The trend with new ball parks is less seating. I'm sure they have it figured out that by raising ticket prices on sell out dates will result in the same profit and 12,000 less peanut shelled floor area to sweep up lol
nice stadium. its too bad that they put an inferior product on the field and no one will be sitting in those seats in 2011. only player on that team is david wright. no other player is consistant like him. oliver perez and john maine are a huge waste of money. k rods an old man beater and f'd up big time. no closer now to go with the pathetic bullpen. can't see anyone rooting for this team next year.
Well here in Houston,Tx We love our Minute Maid Park but the Astrodome still stands and they want to make it in to a Hotel. Whom ever buys it I just hope they keep the name ...(Marriot Astrodome Hotel, Holiday Inn at the Astrodome, etc) Its a historical building. Oilers and Astros both played there. It took in Rita victims. It's not taking up space at all...if they tore it down, it would just be a parking lot.
Don't like this new ballpark. it's boring. when watching a game on tv you can't here the crowd! in shea it was very noisey the fans and the planes. at shea you can even hear the hot dog vendor clearly on tv saying HOT DOG HOT DOG!! it's not gonna be the same. shea stadium and the new york mets went together. memories of shea are to deep for me.
So the Mets got a new stadium but when the Brooklyn Dodgers wanted to stay in Brooklyn they could not get a new stadium? I do like the way CitiField is similar to Ebbetts Field but feel the stadium should have been named for Gil Hodges as he led the Mets to their first World Series win. The game of baseball is all about money today so a corporation gets the rights to name the new stadium instead of honoring Hodges. I also agree with the comment about the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.
I remember as a kid walking into the (Original Yankee Stadium) and getting goosebumps knowing that the greats played on the same feild..I went to the new yankee stadium and it felt like a walt disney inside a baseball stadium...and too expensive...I hope wrigley and fenway still stays
citi field is not the same as shea. for some reason, shea drew more attention to the game. and it doesn't have any history to it.
and i don't see a point to the jackie robinson rotunda. he was a great player and all, but he wasn't a met. They should make it like the Mets History rotunda or something.
Looks like a huge upgrade over Shea, but I still find it laughable these days when a disgraced, bailed-out bank still finds a way to put their name on a stadium or arena.
its a fantastic ballpark and they have everything. my 1 complaint is that seats in the lower bowl are just too expensive, especially for these times. other than that it looks like its going to be a great home for the mets.
12,000 fewer seats? Oh, but they've added "beautiful new premium locations" in the new park. Nice. Kick out the families who renewed weekend ticket packages since the 1960s but add "beautiful new premium locations" to maximize profits. How appropriate that the name of a failure like Citi Bank adorns this hall of shame. Let's Go Mets!
@MarathonManPeatMoss with the mets performance lately i dont think that they are going to need those seats im a yankee fan but i hope you guys start doing better i wanna keep the rivalry and i like that there are 2 ny teams
Ok, the home plate area looks exactly like the Angels stadium. Complete with the low-level windows to the VIP food court and the overall design of the decks.

I think it should be the Shea rotunda. Without William Shea, there would be no Mets today. I think it should be a Shea Rotunda, with a monument to Jackie Robinson somewhere else in the park.
shea rotunda?i hate when people say that. if it was named that what would they put in it, one plack of him founding the stadium. that would really draw a crowd, at least i would want to go to see that one plack lol. he didnt play baseball or break the color barrier. and the whole theme of the stadium is a throw back to the Brooklyn dodgers where Robinson did play. and brooklyn and the new york giants is a combo that created the mets. so thats what jackie has to do with the mets
It's not done yet. The video was shot in gray, cold weather, and nothing is dressed up outside, inside, or on the stadium yet. Of course it doesn't look its best right now but if you look at the renderings of the completed field and all its surroundings, it's a beautiful ballpark.
Can't wait to spend the season there. One thing I hate though is that my seats were moved from shallow right field (field level in shea) to out all the way in right field!

That seems to be the general sentiment. There's no denying the greatness of Jackie Robinson and the impact he made. Having said that. He NEVER played in a Met uniform and has no ties to the history of the franchise whatsoever. It SHOULD'VE been named Shea Rotunda.
Its better than the new yankee stadium with all its premium suites

At least Shea and Yankee Stadium had soul...the new stadiums don't at all. If they ever tear down Fenway or Wrigley, I will stop watching baseball.
