The oil leaking from the valve cover gaskets is often what kills head gaskets on these cars. It wicks into the felt and makes them soft. If any one needs headgaskets replaced on a GM v6, and they're anywhere near Glendale Heights, IL , I can do it for $200+ labor. I'm not trying to advertise a shop or anything, it's just I've done it many times.
ugh I hate my motor, it has coolant in the oil and I had the head gaskets replaced, and guess what...... same fucking problem. I guess all that's left is the intake gasket, or the block, or they put the gaskets on wrong.......God help us all.
@turbocentury88 I hear ya there but this is America man! We throw away running vehicles and buy some more. We just give r hell in the USA. Walk through a typical salvage yard and there are hundreds of fine examples of nice cars that could have stayed on the road for many more miles. But if an older vehicle developes a issue that's just a hair worse than minor, many people just go ahead and junk the whole vehicle.
i have a 94 Buick Rega 3.8L, just found out i have a blown Head Gasket today, looked in my coolant resevoir and there was a shit load oil in it, damn Buick still get's up and goes tho with a fucked Gasket, gonna try some Steel Seal head gasket repair and if actually works. it would be a shame to junk the V6 3.8L is a good motor.
to bad it shit its bed thats a good car gaskets prolly went because the amount of miles. i have a 95 regal custom 3.8 and i love it its fast as hell i'll tell ya i'll have to post some vids
overheated engine will do it to, I almost did it to my parents 96 Buick Regal about this time last year (and they are still driving it, but the damn thing leaks coolant a lot now) I'm glad I don't drive the buick anymore but i miss her horsepower compared to my car that i drive now (4 Cylinder 1996 Ford Contour), but I still don't know how I managed to beat my parents Regal with my Contour
Thats a GM for ya. May run wrong, but will undoubtably run til you turn it off! and not tryin to be a jerk here, but a VR6 Jetta in proper running condition would blow your doors off. =0)
id give it go against a vr6 i aint scared of a vr6 at all my grandfathers 96 nissan altima turbo 2.4 would eat a vr6. i like the way chevys roar jappy and euro cars dont roar like american cars. an no you dont sound like a jerk at all this thing in this condition would lose to a jetta but id put money on it i had it maxed out already 110 and it kept going
ehh dont bring up Datsuns or I'll actually have to be a jerk. hahah. I agree, JapScrap sounds terrible even when they're not running, and all the late 80's to 90's GM V6's had that trademark "RAWR" to them. That quick revving "WHUM WHUM" you'd expect from a V8. Gotta love it!
jan 22nd she went to scrap heaven and i made 203bucks cooool. not worth fixiing not in my budget. i have the vid driving to the scrapyard 20 miles away it sruvived but died at the scrapyard and had to be rammed by a truck to get on the scale...lol
