  • cancer

  • hahahahahahaha. Owned.

  • you completely missed the whole philosophical point of the video

  • Deep, man. Deep.

  • Why so negative, gloomy Gus? Turn that frown upside down!

  • did you really just say that? lol,

  • That's a smile, not an upside-down frown!

    You're a failure.

  • As a Realist I can't disagree, but I choose to see the metaphor of multiple-lives, continues, and the diverse selection of games, as potential for what we can achieve with the choices we do have.

Go out, get someone to blow on your cartridge, and make that next checkpoint.

  • video games as a metaphor for the futility of life.

    awesome.

  • Well, too bad the quotes were misplaced in this video, some of them I could barely read them, they went away too quickly.

It's still an interesting video, pretty pessimist but also insightful.

    Good job

  • the video was not supposed to convey pessimism but rather the "absurdity" of existence (without negative connotations). life simply is.

  • if anyone should seek counseling it's you. the video was meant to convey a neutral stance on the 'absurd' nature of life, and if you interpreted it to be negative you're probably more prone to misery than the philosophers that quoted all that stuff. given the ignorance of your statement you're probably the kind of person to believe everything he sees despite the different narratives of life existing around you. most of these philosophers devoted their lives 2 fighting nihilism especially camus.

  • you don't have to "read" into anything, it's called a fucking METAPHOR. if you can't understand that much, you really ARE an ignorant dumb shit. just because you don't see the artistic expression being conveyed here doesn't mean it's invalidated. go play in traffic, or pick up a fucking book because your narrow mindedness is appalling.

  • oh and BTW, there's a university professor at Berkeley who teaches a class on The Simpsons and existentialism. i'm sure his "drivel" on "nihilism" don't rack him more than six figures a year like you do behind your keyboard.

  • That just proves that a lot of those egghead professors are terribly overpaid. But then again, that's to be expected from left-leaning institutions. And for you to come back an hour after making the first comment to make another proves you have no life. Just like the guy who made this. You could extoll the virtues of this clip forever & I will never see it as more than a waste of time. Of course, I'm not so egotistical that I feel I have to make such nonsense because I think ppl want to see it.

  • yeah, just egotistical enough to post nonsense comments. no one gives a shit whether or not you accept this clip; it couldn't possibly change the fact you're still an ignorant narrow-minded jackass. oh, and learn to count.

  • Yes those evil left leaning institutions have spent centuries ruining the world, we should listen to the right leaning institutions. All information we teach anyone should definately be pre-approved by Liberty University.

This line here at the bottom of this comment is soaked with the sarcasm dripping from the words above it.

  • nicely done=)

  • Thanks. I feel emo now.

  • i found it amusing

  • Erm, lol?

  • faved just for video games and talking heads

  • not as important as the website linking me here made it seem.

  • Well, Kotaku is the journalistic equivalent of a "First!" comment. It's to be expected.

  • Heh, an existentialist journey indeed.

Although if we take it at face value, calling it thought provoking might be an insult to the existentialist nature anyway ^^; After all, spending time to question how meaningful the work is would be meaningless and thus defeating the purpose :P

  • wow paperboy now that takes me back

  • Amazing

  • I don't think it needs to be taken very seriously, and it's not at all thought-provoking, but it's very well put-together.

    Excellent timing.

  • nice:-)

  • I couldn't even watch it all - how I feel sorry for this guy (film maker) - but your response made me wakeup a bit.

  • now try to figure out andy warhol =P

  • This video is genius. All you haters just dont get it. So if you dont like this video, go back to watching fart videos and leave this one to people who have enough common sense to appreciate this masterpiece of a video.

  • Ha ha ha, wow. You think there's anyone in the world who can't understand this? It takes an already-overdone message and beats you over the head with it. Though it's hilarious that you think this is the kind of thing anyone could possibly not understand. I kind of have to wonder if you're all proud of yourself for actually getting it in the first place.

  • LOL...

Theres not a prouder moment in my life!

    Me getting this video= WIN!!!!

  • how dare they know something everybody else knows. the nerve! they should really be ashamed at how obviously apparent the existentialist dilemma really is. i mean if everyone knows, then there's no more secrets. buncha nekkid people here and noone even has the dignity to blush.

  • Agree. Very meh.

  • This is one of the most poignant gaming videos I have ever seen. Thanks for reminding all of us about our own fractured gamer psyches. :)

  • what's the name of that game where the guy was jumping up to hit the blocks? i remember playing a game like that on my old Gameboy, but i can't remember the name of it =/

  • If you're talking about the bit at about 1:37, that's Solomon's Key.

  • wonderful
