D9's repeatedly mentioned the $5g prize is from his own pocket. The companies are fighting for the right for that cash to go to their chosen charity. It's a charity series. I'm sure the venues (booths for sure) and what not are being donated in for charity. I'd imagine D9 & husky are donating their time for this too.
