@ennisstephen I talked to the first guy and he had the wind knocked out of him, needed help out. He said he had no intention of jumping, he just went up there to check out the view but everyone cheered him on and he said f- it, lol. I'd have jumped from this spot by now if they hadn't closed these falls down. Fukers!
you mean, they'll close THIS national forest, not a place like yosemite where DOZENS of visitors have died. there's something going on here- its not people who 'don't like people parking in front of their houses'. its one or a few property owners (law enforcement or rangers?) who are pulling some strings unfairly. unfairly because this forest was here before any san diego country estates where here. also the local news and papers are quite up on this, too- someone is feeding them...

This girl at the punchbowl asked to borrow my inflatable mattress for her friend who couldn't swim...yep, her friend was the only black guy there that day. I have seen a few jumping off the rocks and swimming, but the numbers are disproportionate to the population.

The authorities, unable to accept a natural fact of life (that accidents happen), and under pressure from locals who don't like visitors parking in front of their houses, closed these falls until at least November. They don't close the beach if a surfer dies, they don't close the hill if a snowboarder dies, they don't close the freeway for a year after a fatal crash, but they'll close a national forest.

The kid dying was the straw that broke the camels back. jumped here for years with no issues.and as we all know you dont jump in the middle of the fuckin summer as the water level is ALWAYS very low.

Anybody who calls this "the devils punchbowl" is completely mistaken. The actual devils punch bowl is on "Boulder Creek" above "3 sisters falls". While "Cedar Creek Falls is on "Cedar Creek". Boulder Creek is about 20 minutes south on Boulder Creek Rd, south of Engineers rd.
