Agreed....When you get jammed up, grabbing your radio can be quite challenging with gloves on.Especially if you start thrashing about in a panicked motion... I think this drill shows 1) ANything can happen on a job, 2) keep your calm, assess the situation and 3) work your way to a solution. Good drill....Great video
Does anyone here understand training for a job where unexpected scenarios happen? It's life or death in some circumstances, and vigorous, physically demanding training is necessary. You people just don't get it.
Alright you just fell through the second floor of a house, you somehow didnt break any bones, and are miraculously conscious. Your pass device appears to not be functioning. what can you do? Hit the "oh shit" button that is required on all radios now, duh
@tatertot5821 Most home floor levels are 8 ft high. So the fall itself probably wouldn't be the issue. It would be the debris falling on you. Even at that, you may not get crushed or pinned at all depending how the floor collapses.
WTF!! The yanks have such strange training methods. How has that helped in any way. Id have punched the f@@ck out of that guy if he'd been crawling all over me like that! Cock!!
@twopara This simply just teaches you how to locate your radio after you have experienced a collapse and you are pinned. This is a part of FEMA's mayday training and any successful fire department will make this kind of practice a qualification. This is for your protection. If you fall through a floor or you are pinned can you access your radio on your back, left side, stomach, right side, or kneeling? Can you locate the oh shit button with your eyes closed in all of those positons?
what a couple of shit heads. Train like you fight because you will fight like you train. I dont see real life training here. I just see two power hungry assholes fucking with a trainee.
@jmmurphy3143 As I said above, this is apart of FEMA's mayday training. This is supposed to simulate a collapse with you pinned underneath. Can you locate your radio blindfolded and pinned to the ground? Can you do it on your back, stomach, left side, right side, and kneeling? Just remember help is only just a mayday mayday mayday away.....that is if you can find your radio and have gotten training on how to do so in a scenario such as this.
@LuminousInk The department I'm viewing uses a tarp. Three guys hold the ends of the tarp and once they are in striking distance they jump on him and pin him with the tarp.
fuck wrestling, just lay as still as you can and your P.A.S.S will go off. OR Holler at the (at least!) 2 friends your suppose to have physical contact with!
@poiuyt3251 If there is a collapse and your in close quarters with your team, most likely they will become trapped as well. He isn't wrestleing, this is so he knows how to locate his radio if there is a collapse. Calling a mayday is often over looked, but remember calling a mayday and giving your LUNAR may be what lets you go home that night.
@santoniocarson Its the closest you can get to a collapse as possible. If your deparment has not already done it, try getting certified in FEMA's Mayday training. Talk to your chief about it. It does save lives.
Somebody asked what the guy said after they asked him what he cld do in that situation since the guy lost his radio he said can set off his PASS device.
@VWsEatV8s Ya thats the emergency button I was talking about in my comment, press it and the pass alarm goes into full alert. Good drill though, if he was sounding the floor in front of him he may have felt the edge and stopped. Its a lot harder when your doing i blacked-out though!
@naru004 I've been in a collapse, it isn't fun. The point I was making is that if you shrug off the debris it wouldn't jump back on top of you and hold you down.
@britabf its supposed to similate ruble on him yaidiot you fall and rubles on you you have to struggle to get the radio and blinded is of course the buildings going to be dark unless he falls on top of the damn fire
I'm all for great training. Yet, when those training are trying all they can to keep the guy down on their own, that's not adequate. You need to create a more realistic situation of debris falling on to a person. Just showing that you can hold someone down loaded down with gear is not an ideal scenario.
@Philipp1503 Mayday training for FEMA, at the moment I'm just observing a fire department, I got to go through the mayday training with them. Firefighters who want to protect them selves should have an open mind. Instead of seeing two guys ontop of a guy think of it as the two guys are a ceilling collapsing on the firefighter who just fell. This firefighter must now find his radio while trapped. It will be what saves his life or any others involved in the collapse.
@inmefirefly plz take for bullshit elsewhere... it is not needed here and is certainly not wanted so plz do not make comments if you have nothing encouraging to say.
@javelin954 i have to agree with bobfrapples37Stay still so your pass alarm goes off, relax conserve air. thats what i was taught in the UK when i di my FF1 & FF2... now have 20 years UK service experience and would encourage personnel to do the same; this is not bullshit this overzealous look at me we're f**king great
@inmefirefly Thats why our search and rescue/fire fighting teams are one of the best in the world and train fire fighters from all over the world right?
@inmefirefly So when there is a collapse in a structure fire and there are a lot of noises going on, pumps, trucks, radios, the fire itself, and these guys have no idea how to find their radio because they have never been trained to call a mayday or locate their radio while pinned and they die because of lack of training (which is what they are doing in the video.) Then what is more stupid?
All u really could do is activate your PASS...if you can get your hand to it, and start screaming...everybody keeps comment on how he's an idiot for losing his radio...well you know what?? Sh*t happens. That's why u never go in alone and BOTH firefighters in a team have radios...common sense dudes
@MedicmanCJ Well there are a few things you can do, activate your pass, definetly, you can find your radio, say mayday mayday maday, and tell the IC your LUNAR report which is Location. Unit. Assignment. Resources also telling them what happened whether it be you got lost you had a collapse you fell, and for A you could also substitute it for Air, how much air do you have.
LOL! Very funny. Not very realistic. Not too many floors or walls don't really lay on top of you even though you are trying to move. And, collapsed floors and walls don't really take your radio to fuck you up?
your training may be PASS first, them scream a MAYDAY that is unintelligible, but around here we learn to remain calm, MAYDAY, then turn on your PASS...& I've been doing this job for a decade as well as being a fire instructor...different areas teach different techniques
@soooTyLeR well i know what the point is, we do this in our trainings in the department that i volunteer at. I was just wondering if there was a specific name for it (im trying to find more videos of this training). Its kind of like the Firefighter Down drill but a little different. Thanks for trying to help though, i really do appreciate it.
Well it has its purpose, maybe if a brick wall or structure was on you that extra effort might pay off. There was two firefighters lost in Chicago yesterday so I am not ruling this one out, the problem is they a liable to be injured in training. ALso they should be familiarized prior to any type of training trama situation with the area.
@cusano120 A common practice is to tighten the waist belt and loosen the shoulder straps to save your shoulders and to get most of your support from the waist. I like it snug to my back like a back pack, but a lot of guys like it loose on the shoulders.
The scenario is falling thru a wooden structure. Debris has a tendenc to shift not constant active resistance like the moron instructor is exerting on the trainee.
The classic you can't win scenario becuz we won't let you. Ego always trumps over practical training. Pathetic
@hydeparkhobo they are simulating that you are under a lot of weight if you heard what they said it was "you just fell through the second floor and now you are on the first floor" most likely you will have at least a few hundred pounds of debris on top of you and possibly some debris from above you so it will be just as hard if not harder to break free from that big pile of debris we always train under worse case scenarios
this is tough when they do this part of training. once my radio actually quit working so i had to free myself while they were still dogpiling me but let me up when i started pushing them around and in to stuff.
firefightercharles. I agree with you, i am still in training for my FF1, but even i kno thats thats always an option...unless u forget to check the battery XD
what is wrong with you aliens?? who take jobb as a police man, or soldier or shitt like that?? you know that you can die?? and gov... dont care.. thats why you there in a first place :D
I dont understand what anyone could learn from this, i dont know what procedures you guys have in the states but would he not have someone with him and be attached via a personal line.
@TheDonburchiano Typically yes they would have a RIT rope or they would have a partner who is in direct contact, however in a fire shit happens, you get lost or seperated whatever. This just simulates a collapse and the firefighter must think and problem solve and get to his radio to inform the IC (incident commander) that there is downed firefighter(s)
@bigBn20102010 does your explorer adviser give you tips on how to look like a tool? you have no clue anything about me or my experience which im sure is 100 times more then you and your volunteer dept u prob play at. dont blow smoke
this video is stupid. serves no educational purpose for a firefighter. hey this is what to do if you fall through a floor and two people pin you down after...
@mncmc19 so your a fireman??? no probably not cause you can fall through and shit might land on you......so when that happens you have to get to your radio but in this case he lost his which can happen so then your next move is to activate your pass device and find an alternative route
wow..we did something similar in our hall that we rent out for parites. They had tables and chairs all over the place we had crawl under and when the floor fell, we had to follow the hose out. We had to go through the wood in a wall, remove our airpacks to the side without disconnecting air and get through, then go around a window type wood frame, I jumped through it and was told after that was wrong bc I let go of the hose n what if there was no floor..so I learned..it was fun though...
When he asked him what to do, I think what he said was first activate his PASS device, then shine a flashlight in the air, and thirdly make some noise.
@loafy3112 Thank you brother, Ive seen a few postings on here and man gotta tell you how some actually criticize whats being done to the Firefighter, am going through FF Survival weekend again in two weeks and gotta tell you had this happen to me last summer in a similar way and it makes you open your eyes in so many ways...so to those who knock it, try it once, you may change your mind, be safe brothers.
Hey man I am thinking about bein a fireman. Sounds like a damn cool job. Do you have any advice or any thing that could help me out? training? school?
Shit man I respect all damn fireman. We need you guys. When everyone runs out, you guys run in. Brave! Take Care bud
@sirchristian12 bro...first off, advice, could never give it in what Youtube allows in this paragragh, so two main things I tell all new Rookies..
1. When training, soak it all in as much as possible, never, and I mean never stop training, just cause some call themselves volunteer, they think that a few hours is gonna make them the all star Firefighter, those are the ones that will get you or themselves killed.
@sirchristian12 Next, make sure whatever is in your heart to be a Firefighter, you follow it and dont let anyone take what you wanna do away, except yourself, make sure you want to do this before going fullforce, thats what training will do for you, it will start easy and get harder and harder as in the video above.....as I said to some, this is just wrong what their doing to this guy, but it needs to be done to see how one will react.....stay safe bro, and good luck.
@kujo22 if you knew what it takes to be a firefighter and what we go through, you'd understand what these drills are for. Seriously.....Dont call people who will save YOUR life and give up their lives FOR YOU...."ru-tards."
unfort they have no idea what we go through or how we train, the video above is what all that wonder and mock us how we train, and they should see it, this is what we go through everyone, some find it stupid, I for one find the need to have this done, and will this weekend at Survival, it teaches us to remain calm, and use our heads.....good intense training in my eyes, that I believe some dont get enough of.
to me it looked kind of a too much, because in the united states there are alot of lawsuits. i really wonder if the training method is standard or not.
Oh yeah? Say that when the floor collapses and you fall a floor down and get covered with rubble. Stupid fuck, don't talk shit about these guys if you obviously know nothing about what they're doing.
Agreed....When you get jammed up, grabbing your radio can be quite challenging with gloves on.Especially if you start thrashing about in a panicked motion... MegaLonghornsfan 1 year ago
The scenario is falling thru a wooden structure. Debris has a tendenc to shift not constant active resistance like the moron instructor is exerting on the trainee.
The classic you can't win scenario becuz we won't let you. Ego always trumps over practical training. Pathetic
offkiltr 1 year ago
@offkiltr I honestly believe the instructor is gay and trying to gain dominance by humping the trainee into submission. What do ya think?
slim404 11 months ago
sounds like hes got a mouth full of cock lmao
MaddMax247 1 year ago
hey, wait... debris doesn't have arms, and reposition itself. what an arrogant prick
hydeparkhobo 1 year ago
@hydeparkhobo they are simulating that you are under a lot of weight if you heard what they said it was "you just fell through the second floor and now you are on the first floor" most likely you will have at least a few hundred pounds of debris on top of you and possibly some debris from above you so it will be just as hard if not harder to break free from that big pile of debris we always train under worse case scenarios

the first thing is setting off the pass device, not every firefighter has a radio

I dont understand what anyone could learn from this, i dont know what procedures you guys have in the states but would he not have someone with him and be attached via a personal line.
TheDonburchiano 1 year ago
@TheDonburchiano Typically yes they would have a RIT rope or they would have a partner who is in direct contact, however in a fire shit happens, you get lost or seperated whatever. This just simulates a collapse and the firefighter must think and problem solve and get to his radio to inform the IC (incident commander) that there is downed firefighter(s)
naru004 1 month ago
@bigBn20102010 does your explorer adviser give you tips on how to look like a tool? you have no clue anything about me or my experience which im sure is 100 times more then you and your volunteer dept u prob play at. dont blow smoke
mncmc19 1 year ago
Why is he on his own? His buddie would see what happened and report the incident.
chrispools 1 year ago
this video is stupid. serves no educational purpose for a firefighter. hey this is what to do if you fall through a floor and two people pin you down after...
mncmc19 1 year ago
@mncmc19 so your a fireman??? no probably not cause you can fall through and shit might land on you......so when that happens you have to get to your radio but in this case he lost his which can happen so then your next move is to activate your pass device and find an alternative route
bigBn20102010 1 year ago
@bigBn20102010 and keep your breathing rate under control that and keep youre cool thats when ppl die geting in a hurry and forgeting training
mrjeepman1989 1 year ago
@mrjeepman1989 ya but still after you activate your pass you would want to make some noise and try to get someone to hear your mayday

Firegurlvfdemt18 1 year ago
wow..we did something similar in our hall that we rent out for parites.

Quel est le but de cet exercice?

When he asked him what to do, I think what he said was first activate his PASS device, then shine a flashlight in the air, and thirdly make some noise.

This is a great drill. Don't knock it. They are giving him skills that may save his life one day.
loafy3112 1 year ago
@loafy3112 Thank you brother, Ive seen a few postings on here and man gotta tell you how some actually criticize whats being done to the Firefighter, am going through FF Survival weekend again in two weeks and gotta tell you had this happen to me last summer in a similar way and it makes you open your eyes in so many ways...so to those who knock it, try it once, you may change your mind, be safe brothers.
stvoyager 1 year ago
Hey man I am thinking about bein a fireman. Sounds like a damn cool job. Do you have any advice or any thing that could help me out? training? school?
Shit man I respect all damn fireman. We need you guys. When everyone runs out, you guys run in. Brave! Take Care bud
sirchristian12 1 year ago
@sirchristian12 bro...first off, advice, could never give it in what Youtube allows in this paragragh, so two main things I tell all new Rookies..
1. When training, soak it all in as much as possible, never, and I mean never stop training, just cause some call themselves volunteer, they think that a few hours is gonna make them the all star Firefighter, those are the ones that will get you or themselves killed.
stvoyager 1 year ago
@sirchristian12 Next, make sure whatever is in your heart to be a Firefighter, you follow it and dont let anyone take what you wanna do away, except yourself, make sure you want to do this before going fullforce, thats what training will do for you, it will start easy and get harder and harder as in the video above.....as I said to some, this is just wrong what their doing to this guy, but it needs to be done to see how one will react.....stay safe bro, and good luck.
stvoyager 1 year ago
@stvoyager - What happened to you last summer? You had 2 really hot instructors laying on top of you, yelling in your face? lol

@kujo22 what if a beam, wood, anything falls on u. Maybe thats the point they are making.
studpuppy69 1 year ago
@kujo22 if you knew what it takes to be a firefighter and what we go through, you'd understand what these drills are for. Seriously.....Dont call people who will save YOUR life and give up their lives FOR YOU...."ru-tards."
nebulae87 1 year ago
unfort they have no idea what we go through or how we train, the video above is what all that wonder and mock us how we train, and they should see it, this is what we go through everyone, some find it stupid, I for one find the need to have this done, and will this weekend at Survival, it teaches us to remain calm, and use our heads.....good intense training in my eyes, that I believe some dont get enough of.
stvoyager 1 year ago
you could also activate your pass device :P
