No computers in the KC-135, nothing but skill. The KC-10 on the other hand automatically flies the boom after the initial contact.

@Squirrel9901 Actually yes it is, when the airplane detaches from it a little gas (Avgas) comes out because the plane actually detaches and its perfectly normal.

When a plane with the inlet forward of the canopy is refueling and disconnects from the fuel hose, does the overspray on the windshield cause visibility problems with the pilot so he is unable to see clearly...?
