Liam Neeson is catholic. When talking about ian paisley he ment the 'performance' Paisley put on when he was preaching inspired him to act. he is clearly catholic hence him having to sneak in to watch paisley preach. Nesbitt is Protestant, hope this helps clear things up.

I think he means filming the scene, playing a protestant. I am SO impressed with Liam. His dignity which he has displayed since Natasha's death has overwhelmed me. I never really paid attention to him, just considered him a major actor but I never sought out his words or interviews. He has a beautiful aura about him. That makes me sadder for his loss. Those boys are lucky to have him as a father.

Liam's talking about playing a Protestant in the film. In real life he's actually a Catholic.

And James plays a Catholic in the film but is actually a Protestant in real life.
