  • does anyone know where this was filmed?

  • @carelesscarl My best guess would be their home country of England; specifically Yorkshire.

  • idlewild is my best album of all time, so much

memories of love and freedom and friendship

not like today work, work, work....

  • @delmoniaco Idlewild is alot of peoples fav album of all time- is certainly mine.

  • I agree, pre-club is so much better. brilliant.

  • fucking beautiful voice, original and distinct!!! tracey, bjork, and sade are my favs!!

  • These early days, remember always. So simple and yet It takes years to understand such a simple song... Absolutely pure...

  • This song is brilliant, it was always for my children when I first heard it years ago before they were ever born. They are now 4 and 9 and the song is their song forever. Love them, love EBTG love Tracy.

  • Oh Tracey, what an under-rated voice; it's very special. I'm so glad I had the time to listen to so many great songs sung by Tracey Thorn over my years on this planet. It's a gorgeous gift!!! And all that Ben Watt does is so amazing as well!!!... Rock On EBTG!!!

  • beautiful voice Tracey Thorn..She is the best

  • I love EBTG! =)

  • I really love Tracey. I really love EBTG.

  • Just lovely. The chilly beach setting, their self-conscious smiles, and Tracey's voice soaring. I really miss their pre-club work.

  • @martinz60 I really miss them in general! where are they now??

  • @martinz60 Too True mate. Well said. Delightful naivete. Such a tonic for a tired soul. Maybe they will arrive back at where they started and we will be lucky enough to hear more of their acoustic genius.

  • LOL BonnieMint is UGLY! And she doesn't even make any music...Que triste y barbaridad!

    Tracey is BEAUTIFUL!!! :) Period.

  • u know who's way more beautiful than her, sharleen spiteri in the "say what you want" video by texas!

  • who gives a fuck you moron

  • obviously you because you replied.

  • Excellent track from an excellent album.

  • Been a fan from Eden days and they were great live. Love her voice. Seems like a lifetime ago looking at this. Thanks for putting this up.

  • funny how back in the day, if you like this sort of stuff, you probably never saw the videos if the song didn't make the "charts". now we get to see the videos for the first time. this was always one of my faves...aaah, the subtlety and simplicity that is an EBTG song.

  • one of there best if not there best "I'll call you Jimmy than call you James"

  • a lovely track .

  • I never expected to find this here. Amazing song. Brought back memories!

  • What an incredible lullabye from a mother to a child not wanting their innocence to ever be corrupted by the evils of the world... "you're only two and the whole world revolves around you and nothing's happened yet that you might ever wish to forget... "don't ever change... I call you Jimmy, then call you James..." Sublime and beautiful.

  • My name is James and my late mother called me Jimmy- a lullabye indeed, my friend..

  • You will always be your mother's child and be bathed in that special love, and if you keep that in your heart, nothing, not even death, can truly take that from you- Thanks for sharing your sentiment.

  • love this song for so many years.reminds me of my youth.thanks for posting.well appreceated.

  • I wish they would keep making songs like these instead of electronica...

  • Totally, I totally agree!

  • That makes a lot of us who agree. I couldn't believe it when they started that dance stuff.

  • true

  • surely you need a break from dance now Ben!?

    genius

  • A pure beautiful slice of the past - Ben and Tracy - please take me back to when everything was so simple - JR

  • Refreshing and pure. I miss these early days.

Please give us more early days!

  • Cool song, terrible sweater

  • Damn brilliant. Thanks, made my week.

  • w o w. THANX for this. "Idlewild" is my favorite album for this group and I still adore their work so very much! Please continue to educate the world about this band's brilliance.

  • 'Idlewild' for me too is not just my favorite EBTG album, but stands on its own apart from the rest. It's one of those pure, once-in-a-career, brilliant-from-start-to-finish creations that never sours. Tracey's voice is at its best and it's great to see Ben in 'earlier days, before his wretched illness. Thanks.

  • " Cross My Heart " music video anyone? please?

  • thanks Coreute long live EBTG,cheers!!

  • Idlewild was released in 1987. I've always liked this delicious song also when the critics wrote it was a silly and dangerous thing! Don't ever change I call you Jimmy they call you James...an hymn to infancy for lonely teenagers...Boy you've come home..

  • What?! They called this song silly???

They must be out of their minds!!!

I love it - the melody, the lyrics, the video (simple, pure, almost unscripted with Tracey's eyes shying away from the camera, looking up most of the time). I just love EVERYTHING from Everything but the Girl!

  • Another of those EBTG classic tunes from the album Idlewild released in 1990. i really enjoyed listening to this album.
