Looking at the High Renaissance art, I personally think that there were better artists then Leonardo during his time. It must have been his connections with the powerful people that made his art so famous. Just talking about his art here...Of course he was a genius in other fields like Engineering etc...

@cantopia If you look at the designs of the "tank" then the wheels would turn dependent on the way you turned the handles inside. This would give it a turning ability like modern tanks. But I agree we do go a little over board on his genius, having an idea is one thing, making it work is another.
