@ConiferTreez Stann is a good fighter. He's just weak where Sonnen was strongest. Even if your opinion that Chael has beaten no one of relevance was true, who else dominated Anderson Silva for nearly an entire fight? Who else even came close? People will throw the rib injury or the possible steroid usage into the conversation, but if there is one rematch I'd like to see, it would be that one. The 185lb division is a lot better now than it used to be.

Yes he gave Anderson a good run, but there was SO much controversy surrounding that match, and Sonnen really never answered for any of it. He was obviously juicing heavy, I've never seen him with wind like he had in that fight. Very unnatural.

@ConiferTreez He is obviously worth a damn in the UFC, or else he wouldn't have been a title contender in the first place. Nate Marquardt is also a hell of a fighter, and Chael showed a lot of heart beating him with his head gashed open. I think the guy's personality is so abraisive that you want to believe he sucks as a fighter...and it's just not true. lol. Randy Couture didn't have a flattering record either, but he was champ 5 times! Records aren't everything.

Also, you sound a bit biased against American fighters for some odd reason. Chael Sonnen is very close to the top of the food chain in the middleweight division, and that's a fact man. He has decent standup, but flawless wrestling. His grappling skills are really good as well even though he's only lost to submission guys. Not UFC material? Crazy!

@Chipcar Yeh i agree Silva is exceptional and he did beat one of the elite wrestlers in MMA in Henderson. However Jones is 8 and 0 in the UFC (he beat Matt hamill) and he has faced two good wrestlers and dominated then in Hamill and Matyushenko, seriously dominated them. I'm not saying Jones would win, i'm just saying that your wrong in saying that he would be dominated like many other fighters have been. And Jones is a great fighter, its not just that he wins... he dominates. Just like Silva.

@Chipcar i'm not really a fan of shogun. Jones Has more than eight fights, his first six wins came in two nights in tournaments. He has 8 wins in the LH division, probs the most competative division behind the Lightweight division. maybe his chin is soft but look at Silva who has the impressive 14 fight win streak what happened to him when sonnen tagged him... his chin looked suspect. i'm not sayin Jones is better just that he would be a solid challenge for Silva.

All i am disputing with you is that i think Jon Jones has the potential to fight and beat anderson. @Chipcar I totally agree that Anderson Silva currently deserves the title of 'best p4p fighter' in the world, however i believe Jones or maybe even velasques has the potential to take the title as both have destroyed alot of opponents. However potential is the key word here, as they may not do it while Anderson is still actively fighting and may have to wait until he retires but none the less both show massive potential to be outstanding fighters who could potentialy be the 'p4p' best.

However, my friend Machida is not just your average ground fighter you need to do a little research. machida trained Sumo, Judo and catch wrestling. He was the runner in world Sumo championship at 115lb div. A black Belt in Judo and holds few wrestling championships on local stage. Not to mention he is BJJ balck belt and won few tourny.
