Basically he was told to lose weight for the role of Edward but went waaaaay too far and they ended up telling him he actually looked sick because he lost too much weight. So he ended up putting the weight back on, and I think that's what he's getting at, that he ended up not having the extra-thin look he was aiming for for the role.
