  • There are different schools of the saxophone playing, Mule definitley was the best of the french style of play, an Rascher being the best of the German style. But those 2 guys head up............would be intense

  • He is the GOD of saxophone.....

  • the one guy that doesn't like thsi video, is a rascher fan

  • To "pruey' Don't be so sure on that one ,check out a man named (Al Gallodoro),lived into his late 90's and played every day!!! Has the record for playing "Rapsody in Blue"lead alto sax over 10,000 times!! Look up his web site when you have chance!!! If Im not mistaken Al died within the last two years, and played every weekend in a club in New York

  • @pruey This is my teacher's teacher's teacher as well! Who are you studying with?

  • que hermoso sonido el del saxofón... por eso lo adoro y me encanta el saxofón clásico..

  • Just so you guys know, there's really only 2 movements in this piece.

Allegro con moto and Larghetto - Animato Molto.

What are commonly thought of as the "second" and "third movements" are really the same movement cut in half by a cadenza.

The confusion isn't without reason though, since the first and second halves are distinctly different in style.

  • @SupahflyJazzguy if im not mistaken there is a second and third movement, they just run into eachother??

  • @XdarkdomainX I'm pretty sure I just explained that there isn't. The "last two movements" are easily confusable since the second movement has a long cadenza in the middle of it, which divides the first and second half of the second movement. The first and second halves are also in different styles, but it was written as one movement.

  • i dont like the old fashiond speed of his vibrato, but other then that, fantastic

  • @XdarkdomainX That's how the old french school is though. Just have to appreciate how things evolved. We couldn't be where we are without people like Mule, after all :)

  • Please teach me master!

  • He's my teacher's teacher's teacher. Best player who ever lived!!!!

  • @pruey i say sigurd or sax...maybe he can get third place...

  • @pruey ha! hes my teacher's teacher. but, what a great sound Mule had. nobody sounds like this. such a shame there are no hi-fidelity recordings of the master.
