  • This is just beautiful, I think I am going to alter it just a bit and make something out of it. Thanks for all your help, I have learned alot form your videos and even my mother that has been Crocheting for years is watching you now. She does animals and Afghans but I am hoping she makes some hats. Keep those videos going, Crochet may make a comeback with the younger crowd, its not just for old ladies anymore.

  • Hi Teresa, could you please tell me what i need to do to work a double crochet? (i mean how many chains and how many double crochet in each space)

    Please,please....

    many thanks in advance

    Greetings from Greece

  • @EvaIoannou1 When you are working a double crochet, you will work one double crochet in each chain across. I will send you a video tutorial on working a double crochet.

  • @tjw1963 thank you very very much for taking the time. Take care.

  • so is this for an adult size blanket? or a baby blanket? I'm looking for an adult size one

  • thank you & wonderful work. i will start work this crochet :)

  • You are wonderful! I have seen other videos teaching this stitch but they are hard to follow. Talk about step by step, you deliever! I love the close in shots so I can really see where you are in the progresstion. Thank you again for all your time. You have enabled me to do something different than the simple patterns I was used to. I just started using Youtube, I'm glad I did.

  • hello do yo have a purnted copy of the patterns thanks you

  • Thank you. You are very good in your instructions.

  • @NowNowWowWow I appreciate your kind words, thank you! :)

  • @tjw1963 i was wounder if you have to change the color if you are useing a multing colors

  • I'm making this now & it's turning out beautiful. You give wonderful instructions! I've been crocheting for 7-8 yrs but only learned the granny (basic) stitch from a co-worker. So I'm venturing out & this video helped a lot. Thanks!

  • I love ur videos, the instructions are easy to follow and the patterns are creative and fun

  • Большое спасибо))))

  • Are you turning your work every row?

  • @lphanatic Yes I am turning every row.

  • Do you have a printed copy of the pattern plz

  • @matthewperry1982 The written instructions on my crochet blog. You will find a link in the video details below the video.

  • I love your videos because you break things down "Barney style"

  • @Discernaoftruth Thank you! I like that, "Barney Style"!!

  • 8:19 I do not know how to change to another colour (pink) in the beginning of 2nd row. I am a beginner.

  • @udon890 I will send you a video that shows how to attach a new color.

  • @tjw1963 can yhu please send it to me too ? thnks

  • @noushin96 Yes I will send you the link for attaching a new color.

  • I am on my fourth row and I've realized that half my wheel has the "front" look and the upper half has the "back" look. Am I doing something wrong or is this what it's supposed to look like?

  • @FaithfullyHis6 When you are working it in rows, one row will be the front and the other will be the back. You can cut to work on the front but you will have a lot more tails to sew in.

  • Hi Teresa, I like this pattern very much, could i use this pattern to make a bag?

  • @kamalees Yes, you could make a bag using this pattern.

  • Is it possible to make it in diagonal for a granny square?

  • I was stuck doing the same couple of stitches because reading crochet instructions was confusing.....and then you came along with your patient video instructions! THANK-YOU SO MUCH TERESA!!!!!

  • Great info!

  • @DAMBOBBY Thanks! :)

  • Excellent video, great instructions. Thanks for taking the time to do this!

  • @swdesai21 Thank you, I appreciate the comment.

  • Hi Love your demos, I have learned so many diffrent styles from your clips. I would like to attempt a large blanket with this style, At the start of the demo you say it's 12 stiches to every wheel, but then you go on to start with 38 stiches for 3 wheels? at the start should I add 2 extra stiches no matter what sizeI want to do ?. I have done your demo on the 38 and it turnede out fine Thanks Toni England

  • @tonibax No matter how wide you make the chain, you will always have a plus amount or extra chains.

  • Do the gel grips help a lot? Are they worth getting? thanks

  • @Newlyandjoy You can get about 20 in a package for $3.00. I have found they make a big difference by providing a wider grip with the flexible center.

  • How many ounces or grams are needed to complete this baby blanket at 122 chains?

  • @DNaltenergy With most afghans, you will make an educated guess. The outcome is always going to be different for each person depending on their crochet tension, the yarn they use and the size hook they use. I would estimate 8-12 skeins of yarn for a baby blanket.

  • Hello i woudl like to give you a big Thankyou, for all your tutorials. You have rlly helped me a lot. I have question tho, im making a baby blanket and the instructions are kkind of confusing for me. so would i follow this video even tho i have 122 chains?

  • @inlovewithpari You can follow even though the video is for a smaller swatch. Everything is repeated so you will continue for a wider blanket. There is a reverse on the video player if you want to play through the same section over and over. I do have the written and symbol instructions posted on my crochet blog.

    crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2009/04/large-wheel-stitch-catherines-wheel.html

  • I am so upset that I didn't see your tutorial until now!

I bought a bunch of patterns from another site when you had the easy-to-do directions available for free. I can't tell you how much easier you make it with a visual tutorial. Thank you!

BTW, where did you get the cushion for your hook? I would love to find some for myself!

  • @tazmajaz71 Thank you. The grip is a pencil grip. Any type of pencil grip should work. I purchase mine from Wal-mart. They are called gel grips.

  • I would like to know have you made a blanket out of this pattern? If so I would like to see it , and if so was it for and adult or child that you made it for?

  • @sweetdrops45 I worked up this swatch for the video. I have done a baby blanket for the square catherine wheel pattern.

  • I cant wait to try this , I love it , its something new for me to try out., you are a very good teacher I love your work , and its very neat.

  • @sweetdrops45 Thank you.

  • Love your video's! You do fabulous work. but I'm still trying to figure out how you crochet holding your working yarn like that, under your middle finger. I've never seen anybody hold their yarn like that. I tried it, and couldn't get off any stitches. I guess its whatever we get used to and how we're taught. Keep up the good work! and keep the video's coming.

  • @wildblue67 Thank you. I do have two videos showing how I hold my work. Have you seen them? I will send you the link if you have not. You should hold your work how it is most comfortable for you. You don't have to hold it as taught by the traditional "by the book" method. I am proof of that. :)

  • I don't understand why you started out with 38 chains but said we needed multiples of 12?

  • @MugBug14 No matter what stitch you do, there are always going to be an extra amount of chains at the beginning of your foundation. You have the multiple portion and an extra + amount. It is extra stitches in addition to the multiple.

  • Grazie, bellisimi i video sto imparando tantissimo, grazie grazie ancora

  • @justygirl123456789 Maybe you should try a beginner pattern.

  • @justygirl123456789 she is really good! if you don't get it is not her problem!

    be nice!!!!!!

  • @justygirl123456789 ... That is not a very nice thing to say to someone... it is not her fault you did it wrong... she is awesome and obviously has as many subscribers for a reason... ( she is doing a good job )

  • This is an easy stitch to learn. I will learn this as soon as I master the slanted shell stitch from your previous video. I'm so glad that you're here on youtube. Thank you so much!

  • Please enter me in the drawing, Terry. Thanks!

  • Terry! You are wonderful! Thanks so much for your tutorial re the Catherine's Wheel. I am making one for a California King Bed -- is at 40 wheels wide (started with a foundation chain of 490 and adjusted it once I verified it would do). I really enjoy doing this project. I will send you a picture when I'm a little more further than I am now. Thanks lots and lots of car lots!

  • You are welcome to share your picture on my FaceBook page "The Art of Crochet byTeresa" when you are finished.

    Thank you,

    ~~Teresa

  • I certainly will. Just to let you know, I learned to crochet a granny square pattern 36 years ago and that was all I knew how to do crochet-wise. To date I have made many, many granny square California King bedspreads. And now after all these years I found you and chose the Catherine's Wheel to do. I am having the bestest time with this pattern/project. I really mean it is the most fun I've ever had crocheting. I look forward to many more projects & learning with you. Thank you so much.

  • hello i must be doing something wrong i done sets of 12 to the legth i wanted it but at the end i came up with a long chain of 8 left befor the single crochet what did i do wrong?

  • thank you for using the symbol pattern I can't understand the word patterns......where can i find more patterns that look like that one

  • You are welcome. I do have several posted on my crochet blog for various pattern stitches. I will send you the playlist for crochet pattern stitches. The links to the written instructions are all in the same place under "More Info".

  • I am so thankful 4u,I couldn't chain 1 chant stich moreless anything tile learning everything from you your videos and writtens instructions,as well as your answered emails have turned me into a great crocheter but still getting better ty

  • You are welcome, I appreciate the comment.

  • I really love this one how long to I need to make it as A afghan for myself?

    five stars

  • how many chains will i have to do for an adult size blanket?

  • What is the size of this or the baby afghan? inches?

  • I ended mine at 33 inches. You can make it as large as you want to.

  • I was thriled to learn this new stich!!! It was hard at first but now it is easeyer and i find it fun!! Thanks!!!

  • @Hargrove0512 It's always fun to learn a new stitch. Once you've mastered it, you can teach it to someone else :)

  • i have completed 2 squares of 4 wheels each. it was a little bit challenging to me, but by the time i completed the 2nd square, i began to feel at ease. thanks for sharing.

  • It is great you are getting the hang of it. One day soon you will just do the stitches and forget that they may have even been a challenge. Doing this stitch will help you be more at ease the next time you come across another challenging stitch.

  • My sister just sent me a set of crochet hooks sizes L, M,N. These are pretty big for me but I am having fun with them. I have just finished making a pouch. It was difficult since this is the first time I'm using hooks that big and the yarn isn't really big either lols, so I have to use thicker yarn with hooks that big right??

  • You can try the hooks with 4 ply yarn. Hooks that size are great for making a light weight afghan with 4-ply. You can also use two strands of 4-ply yarn or the larger chunky yarn.

  • Excelente aula!!!!

  • Thanks for the advice on Caron Eco yarn. At this moment I am sitting with you on crocheting the slanted stitch. Making a baby blanket with that one. It's my third. You are my teacher. Thank you.

  • You are welcome.

  • Teresa, I crocheted 4 rows of this beautiful blanket with Red Heart Super Saver , but it seemed so heavy for a baby. Can I use Caron Eco yarn with the H hook to get the same effect?

  • Caron will work just as well and is wonderful for lightweight baby crochet.

  • do you have the picture patterns available??

  • lol..nevermind i just went to your blog

  • I have symbol and written instructions posted on my crochet blog. The link is to the lower right of the video under my channel image.

  • i noticed that your instructions here are different from your written instructions. In RW1 shouldnt the first * be in front of skip 5 chains? theres on mention of putting the sc in the last chain of the row and in RW2 the written directions say CH5 work 4tc in the video it says 9tc. and to leave the last loop. the written instructions say leave the last loop. which is correct?

  • What is the time codes in the video you are talking about?

  • I just had the asterisk in the wrong place.

Time code 8:11, and 15:16 are the beginning and end of row 2. The first end I say 4 TC and the second end I say 5 TC. Time codes are helpful when pointing out a possible error.

  • Very clear and relaxed. Your voice is very calming. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Thank you very much. I appreciate your comment.

  • You are the best

  • Thank you.

  • Will this pattern look ok with 3 colors or should I just use 2?

  • You use as many colors as you want to.

  • Awesome love this version of Catherine's Wheel and love the way you teach the stitches. Thank you for great video's.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • love yr video's they slow and close very explainable

  • You are moving right along.

  • I take my new afghan squares to work and practice when I am suppose to be doing paper work. Thanks a lot Teresa, I have made 20 squares now. How many more have you got in the pipeline, cant wait.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • amazing!!!! every design you make is beautiful i love it and i am about to finish my first baby afghan.I have a question how can i wash my afghan its white and light blue so it kind of got lil dirty so is there some special way to clean thanks again for your videos

  • I have always just washed afghans in a warm cycle. I have never had any problems with color running with acrylic yarn. Look at your yarn label for washing recommendations.

  • You videos are really easy to follow. I want you to know how much I appreciate the time, effort and money you have put into teaching this craft. I feel so at ease learning from you. Usually some instructors teach from a point of assuming you know and can catch the stitiches in a matter of seconds. You are very intuitive with your teaching. I am grateful to have found your videos. Subscribing and placing your videos in my play list. Will be recommending your videos to others often :).

Ive seen it b4 but it was slighty confusing, [[It was 7 double crochet skip 3chains and go into the 4th chain, then 3 single crochet]] Do u have any patterns for the circles to be a bit smaller?? I think this would make an awesome blanket :D
