This commercial was shot on 35mm. stunning quality compares to 16mm, I was in the control room when the film was transferred to 2" videotape, in the final few seconds the 727 passes across the sun, one of the Ansett execs commented that it looked as if the plane had exploded
they all panicked, the tape was sent of and the end was still framed, the television showed the plane still framed before reaching the sun.
It was a '69 or '70 ad as I was working at Ansett then and have been trying to get a copy of it since as I still think it was one of the best ads ever produced. To this day, the 727 is still my favourite passenger jet. The ad was made just after the change to the Delta livery.
@rockape50 Agree entirely...even after all these years, this ad is still tasteful, elegant and effective, especially when you compare it to the loud, vulgar ads of today.
Is this a version of the ad made for the cinema though, I wonder? It is definitely from the early 70s (I remember it well), but Australia didn't get colour TV until 1975...so why go to the expense of filming it in colour if no-one could see it that way?

It's got to be the best ever Aussie airline advertisement - a big claim but true!

are you sure this was 1970? cause this seems really modern for 1970 seems more like 1979 and its in colour and we didnt have colour until 1975

This has to be one of the finest, if not the finest, ads I have ever seen.
No hard sell, no pressure, just a sheer delight to watch, especially the black swan, straining to achieve flight.
Thanks for posting it, what wonderful memories.
