It doesn't matter as much as we think it does. I was talking to a friend who lived in Africa, and he didn't understand my talk about the slave trade. Turns out that black people in Africa don't blame whites for the slave trade--they blame blacks, in fact. They traded amongst each other. The Africans don't realize that we even had anything to do with it. I don't think it's a race issue, in a lot of cases. I think it's an America issue. That's just MY perspective, though.
In my school I'm known as the blackest white kid because of my passion for Hip Hop music. When asked this past Monday if I want to be black by an african american peer I responded that I did not and that I am whole-heartedly comfortable with who I am. That peer then gained a lot of respect for me for saying that.
This really made me smile. I wish kids at school wouldn't pick on me or call me a chocolate chip bc I'm black. On top of that being a black female. They have very mean things to say. With more men like u the world will shine with peace and happiness.

I fail to even begin to comprehend how the mind of a racist functions throughout every day life. Seriously. How can anyone think that way? I understand there are some cultures that are associated with certain ethnic groups, cultures that are littered with racism, sexism, homophobia and just plain ignorance. Just because you hate a culture does not mean you have to hate everyone born into it. If anything, "American culture" is one of the worst. Apparently its just easier to judge others though.

Racism is the ignorant hatred of another person.
I personally don't see race, sexual orientations or genders. I see human beings. I identify as human. If people ask me what I am, I'll tell them I am human. I was born to a black father and a white mother. I was born to a Christian family. I don't believe in God(s) and I don't call myself black or white. I think things like race, religion, gender, etc are insignificant and we shouldn't waste our time worrying about them.

It doesn't matter as much as we think it does. I was talking to a friend who lived in Africa, and he didn't understand my talk about the slave trade. Turns out that black people in Africa don't blame whites for the slave trade--they blame blacks, in fact. They traded amongst each other. The Africans don't realize that we even had anything to do with it. I don't think it's a race issue, in a lot of cases. I think it's an America issue. That's just MY perspective, though.

In my school I'm known as the blackest white kid because of my passion for Hip Hop music. When asked this past Monday if I want to be black by an african american peer I responded that I did not and that I am whole-heartedly comfortable with who I am. That peer then gained a lot of respect for me for saying that.
