Very cool... We kayak & SUP fish on the Gulf Coast. Do you ever have any problems with sharks trying to eat your fish, I see you feet dangling in the water...lol
Anybody have suggestions for the ideal style of SUP for fly fishing? I'm a pontoon boater by nature from British Columbia, but now I live in Perth, Australia. Gonna learn to SUP, and it would be great if I could incorporate my lifelong passion of flyfishing in this new sport.
@plasterdbastard Gee, not sure how I missed your message but I use a Hobie ATR. They come in 12' and 10'6" models. I think the more stable the better so it just depends on how agile you are. The more you fish on it the more comfortable you're get though. Start big and you can always go smaller. It's super fun! Good luck!
@bonita4447: Thanks! I'm just doing what I love and having a good time! Love my purple Avet! I caught a 40lb white sea bass with it from my board June 2009. That reel has good juju!
I don't think you lost your balance. I think that was a controlled 'drop'. Am I right? Also, thanks for the technique you showed with the double handed stripping on the retrieve. That was interesting. I will try that the next time I go to the river. I catch a lot of Small Mouth Bass. Very strong fighters for only weighing about 3 to 4 lbs. (and that is a good size one). Good luck to you!
@lorryt0 Hey, yes, I use a weight forward shooting head...usually 450 grain. I've never added any shot but I don't think it would hurt if you really need to get down deep. Most of the time I'm going to fish in the top 10'-15' so I'm not to worried about much deeper...although, maybe I'd catch more fish if I did! :-) Good luck! Hope that works!
I use mostly deceivers and clousers...blue and white with a little flash or chartreuse and white. I've had the most luck with fairly low profile flies. There are some lareger baitfish patterns that I buy and trim them down a little.
0:49 ohhh... u do know, we men can't do this, right ??

Great vid, I was thinking of trading my fishing kayak for a paddle board. But I don't think i could do that move you did when you lost your balance.

thanks. thats pretty cool what you do... even though i don't like SUP boarders.

I hear ya'...I only fish off my SUP. If there are waves I'll ride my surfboard. SUPs are dangerous in the lineup!

ahhh way cool. 100% agreed
