I have Tivos and go into the To Do list at LEAST once a day because I tweak padding and other stuff. The SP list is basically a "first pass" at recordings. If I had an Elite, I still wouldn't necessarily have enough tuners to get everything *with padding*. (Many if not most shows I watch need at least a minute on each end to successfully get the full show.)
For the content that you said is too slow, from the Discovery Bar, that's being pulled in over the net. I suppose it is a trade off - do they pull down all of the info and pre-cache it to speed things up or not? If they do then that's a lot of broadband traffic for content that probably isn't accessed very often. If not, then there is a little bit of lag when you first access the content and it pulls it down. It seems like once you access it it does cache the rest of the info for that session.
It just seems like there is a project management issue in Tivo software project. How can you be making updates to the Interface when you haven't even gotten 100% on interface onto the HDGUI. Todo List and Season Pass Manager still in SDGUI?
2012 Tivo Software todo List
1.) Ensure All Interface Panels have been moved to HDGUI
2.) Update software to make use of both CPU cores.
3.) Review all code finding causes of slow interface performance.
@proberts42 Because the To Do List and Season Pass Manager, and the other screens still in SD, just aren't as important. They aren't accessed as often by most users, so it really doesn't matter much if they're not in HD. They'll get updated in time, but there is more impact on the consumer from updating the commonly accessed screens. Also, these UI elements are pretty much what they developed for Virgin Media. So this about bringing the branches together for better returns overall.
@zonereyrie Of the 5 Tivo owner I know personally they go into Todo List multiple time a day and Season Pass manager a few times a week. I Really want them change so that when at Tivo Central Screen and hit Left it should do the Zoom command and return to normal viewing.
@vsaroca I figured since the full grid guide and live guide had been displayed in blogger coverage and on Twitter, I could skip it. I posted a screengrab of the grid guide on my site via the link in the description above (and am not a fan of the live guide, although visually it looks real nice with the update).
Any hints of this coming to the THR22 (DirecTV with TiVo) units?

So I OCD-ly check the To DOo list.

when does this come out
Techraingeek 2 months ago
@Techraingeek It's a staggered rollout of 2-3 weeks. TiVo Premiere and Premiere Elite customers started receiving it Thursday night.

@proberts42 Second core was activated last month with the 14.9.2.2 update. Not sure what portions of the software use it. Possibly not Flash...

@proberts42 Why do they go into the To Do List multiple times a day? Don't they trust the TiVo to record what they've programmed?

Nice improvement. I wish you had shown the full guide too.

@davezatz Yeah I saw those, I was curious about the performance and what the A, B keys do.

Sound effects, lol. I hope you only use them for the purposes of this video. And for God's sake, delete the Kendra folder IMMEDIATELY.

@robtheicon This TiVo gets a lot of use by my wife... I think Kendra will be staying.

@robtheicon I love the TiVo sound effects, I think it is the best feedback the UI has so you know when the command has been received.

Kendra.... really???

Dave, looks good. Room for improvement but speed/performance is no longer the primary issue. Thanks for posting! ~Sam
