@Nickmckiller ...hmmm...if he knew where as well as the general area of Toronto, why would he ask from which state is it north of? Unless he only gone as far as the Niagra Falls area since that is what he used as a reference. Just curios which airport tower is this from...I hope it is not from NY. Having said that...I see nothing wrong with the question.

In my (humble) opinion, that picture, the ugliest control tower in the world is located at LAX (that's Los Angeles if you're saying "huh?"). Ain't saying nothing about the controllers, they do good stuff but! That tower! Anyway, I digress... "What state is it north of" helps form a quick picture in your mind so you know whether to point them at Idaho or Illinois. A dumb question is when you ask someone their heading and they respond with where they are going instead of the compass heading!

He never asks where Toronto is, he just asks what state it's North of, probably to check what part of the US/Canadian border he would be flying over.

@libudibudauchoo Yeah, I saw that same show. Did you also see what happened when they asked the Germans on the street in Germany the same questions or those people from the other country? Not to many smart people anywhere in the world apparently. Very scary. I'm "just" a truck driver and knew more than they did. These are people who get high paying jobs because they just happened to make it through college.(although I bet they can't remember much of those four years)

@bphendri, um... the us and canada went to war in 1812 u guys wanted more of our land (dunno y its fairly useless, but u did), so we burnt down, (at least part of) the old white house. i knew international education was fairly limited in the US but this is actually part of your own damn history, it's also where your right to bare arms came from, after the war the americans wanted every person to be able to defend themselves if the canadians decided to attack.
