As irminkerch noted the propeller was not un-feathered. They start every time with it unfeathered. Good idea to start the engine when above the pattern especially with other airplanes around to avoid starting after landing with someone on final. A precaution but a start is not necessary with a glider as a airport should always be within gliding distance.

what kind of a video promotion is this...im a longtime subscriber of avweb...but this is stupid promoting an airplane and POSTING a video of basically a engine failure...strange

Okay maybe they should have unfeathered the prop prior to restarting the engine again. Sometimes this helps a lot :-))) For the non-pilots: While gliding the prop blades are driven to a position where they create less drag, they are "feathered". In this position the aircraft performs better when the motor is off. Best regards from sunny Vienna

hmm reliable aircraft makes u thankful that they did make it as a real glider too whoever made the motor screwed the pooch when it comes to reliable restarts

Too much focus on the powered aspects in this video. Whats the glide ratio? Best L/D? These are the things glider pilots care about. :(
