  • Look at Jay's toes wiggle at the end.

  • I never understood the message Jay's student film was trying to convery. My favorite part is the Kool Aid Man + Explosion.

  • The Artist is Dead

  • 0:33 = Pure Win

  • OH NO. PROMOETHEUS.

  • @bloodyinkpen PROMETHEUS!

  • its quite a nice idea from the authors to put a french title for Jay's video but its false cause "morte" means "dead" for a girl in french. For a boy, its the word "mort" which is used... oh well...

  • @YMangaka whoosh!!!!!!!!

  • @Defenseman619

    ...what ? ^^'

  • why are there 2 dislikes for this? i seriously can't see why someone would, not only not like this video, but go through the time and effort to click "dislike". have you no souls?

  • @ntbone It happens to every video. There really is no need to whine about it.

  • Thanks for uploading this. Always one of my favorite Critic moments. I especially lawled the first time when the Kool-Aid man burst through the wall, and at the end when the girl gets his name wrong and you can see Sherman's feet tighten.

  • We don't see jokes on this level of sophistication on TV anymore, a real shame.

  • the man on the little bike: what is that from?

  • This is so wtf it's hilarious.

    "Catered by Jay Sherman"...lol

  • One of the very funniest things I've ever seen in my life... its not quite as good when you see it out of context

  • The F*ck? A BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!

  • well can someone tell me the exactly name of this song? is not dies irae from Veri or Mozart obviously so people plz be more specific when you say " oh is dies irae " xD. Plz help me cause this piece sound terrific =P

  • In order of appearance:

    Battleship Potemkin

    The Seventh Seal

    Clarabell Cow

Gerner, a famous for the ability to swallow his nose

    Laugh in gag

    King Kong

Christopher, famous for that crazy dance with four other puppets

Kool Aid Commerical with Atomic Bomb explosion

  • @Jimkaider Wait, you're forgetting the end! On the FIN, you hear the final chord that was played in The Beatles' "A Day in the Life"!

Either way ^^ good on you for getting everything else~

  • @Jimkaider I almost thought it was the Jackson 5

  • "Promotheus!"

    "ProMEtheus!"

That bit always gets me, what a way to end a film! 5/5

  • The toe flexing is what cracks me up.

  • ProMEtheus!

  • From which source do we get the dancing puppets?

  • Oh no! Promotheus!

  • proMEtheus!

  • what song is playing?

  • Carmina burana???

  • No, it's not Carmina Burana... I dunno what it is.

  • Dies Irae, also made famous for being in the film "Battle Royale"

  • Oh no...Promotheus,

    "Prometheus!"

  • lol at the Kool Aid man. I honestly thought that the Dancing dummies was a parody of the Jackson Five with Michael in the middle

  • Encore!

  • Films Referenced: The Battleship Potempkin (odessa steps), Lawrence Of Arabia, Steamboat Willie (original Mickey Mouse cartoon) King Kong, Singin' In The Rain, Dr. Strangelove, Films of Ingmar Bergman & Federico Fellini. TV Shows: Laugh-In, The Gong Show (Dancing dummies), America's Funniest Home Videos. Music: The End Of "A Day In The Life" by The Beatles (Final Track on Sgt. Peppers).

  • I don't think thats "A Day In The Life." I can't remember what it's called.

  • I got most of them. Which was the one where he's on the small trike and falls over on his side?

  • Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In

  • Which part is lawrence of arabia?

And the running people in the horizon is from the 7th seal, by Bergman

  • I didn't see any Fellini references.

  • I can't believe this amazing video!!! You just made my day.

    Long live to Jay Sherman!

  • Fucking estatic that I found Jay's student film with perfect start/stop times....thanks a million!!!!! 8D

  • The tricycle man tipping over seems to come from a segment from the skit show Laugh-In.

  • nutter

  • What is the song played in the background? Anyone know?

  • There isn't really a name for it, the song I mean. In the commentary, the creators said that they taped the audio while watching a live choir performance(german,eastern-euro,something like that, I forget) and decided to use it, even though they realized that they didn't know its name or have rights to it, lol. ^^ But I love it too.

  • What is the song in the background? Anybody know??

  • The title is in french ! Thanks

Translation : The star is dead.

  • This was one of my favorite moments in The Critic. By the way. What exactly did Jay pilfer to make this? I notice he parodied Singing in The Rain when hanging from the light pole. THe first shot of the staircase was from Battleship Potemkin. The second shot of the figures on the hill was from The Seventh Seal. Then there is the kool-aid man and King Kong as well.

  • There's also a parody of the Simpsons and Fassbinder as well. Plus Cocteau and French art in general.

  • best video of your life

  • God, I miss this show! Hilarious!

  • So alone...SO ALONE!!!

  • This was so funny! "I have always loved, oh no...Promotheus!" "Pro-ME-theus!" FIN. Perfect!

  • the greatest freaking film ever made.

  • :D!

  • oh my god this video is incredible i have been searching it for years thank you pal ... but is possible to find the spanish version?
