  • old school dance-off

  • Beautiful when two races realize that all men are equal and ignore their irrelevant and useless differences.

  • Doesnt it say in the Bible that drunks will go to hell. More proof that despite the entertainment value of religions its still mostly bull. LOL

  • The first man to begin singing among the Christians (at 1:56) has a super voice.

  • I think if this is what men really did when they went out drinking us women wouldnt have to worry so much hahha

  • @84jessaud

there is a huge difference you are overlooking, in today's bars, clubs and dives women are present and they are just as drunk as the men.

  • so this is how old drunk men celebrate lol

  • I just love the dancing in this so much.

  • the man at 7:00 looks like Stalin XP Tevye drunk is funny!

  • Jewish drinking party! L'Chaim!

  • Wow, Jews can really throw a party!

  • But, once in a while, can't Yo_ choose someone else?

  • Wait would the old guy be his son not his brother

  • 4:00 NO TEVYE!! DON'T TAKE THE GINGER'S HAND!! HE HAS NO SOUL!!!

  • @jswizzletdrizzle I'm a ginger, and don't take this offensively or anything, but sometimes ginger jokes actually do get to us. There are boys who throw stuff at me and call me names because I'm a ginger. Obviously, none of that is your fault, I just think stereotypes shouldn't exist.

  • I think one of the things I love best about the bar scene is that even though you can see the prejudices on both sides of the people living in the village, neither are the villains. There's no black or white. Just the simple, humble humanity of people trying to live from day to day as happily as they can manage. And Topol plays Tevya with so much life and passion that you can't help but feel the highs and lows he goes through right along with him.

  • Is it just me, or do the Russian guys remind anyone else of the mushrooms in "Fantasia"?

  • Does anyone know the name of the actor who plays the Cossack soloist?

  • Do comments about fiddler on the roof have to come down to a religious debate? Jesus, it's a musical not an opportunity to troll about religion and piece.

  • It's the high five dance!

  • pubs seem to be the most common place for no discrimination, everyone gets along when their drunk

  • they are very good at being drunk, r they really drunk??

otherwise very good acting at it

  • Holy crap; I have never seen such a cool, metaphoric yet natural dance scene... Holy cow... the Russians dancing in and out of the Jews in line, each pushing back and forth against each line of each other... SO. COOL.

  • If only bars were this much fun

  • The secret to world peace is vodka.

  • DANCE BREAK

  • I like it when the christian Russian starts to sing : the reaction of the jews is just ... well, I can't find words, but it, somehow, bring joy back. ^^

  • "I always wanted a son, but I wanted one younger then my self"

I laughed right with them on that.

  • Does anyone know the name of the Russian soloist? He's wonderful.

  • Shay Carl @ 5:13 XD

  • Dear God

did u have to send me news like that today, of all days...I know...I know we are the chosen people...but once in awhile can't u choose someone else.....!! HILARIOUS!!!

  • I suppose whatever our differences, whether religious, social, etc., we still have one thing we can always share, no matter the location... getting drunk!

  • God I love this movie xD

  • I'm surprised that they shared a bar with the Christians at all!

  • @jrmetmoi

Yeah, I was kinda surprised too.

Man, do I wish jews/christians relations were really like that in Russia ... *sighs dreamily*

  • I'm meant to be doing a dissertation on Meiji Japan at the mo.....but damn, all I want to do is learn to dance like that

  • It was actually really refreshing to see two groups of people who embrace such different traditions rejoicing together.

  • i loveee thiss

  • @Labrynthiea

    haha

  • My grandfather used to dance like the Russian guys.

  • Half of these guys look like Al Borland.

  • well hes drunk...

  • what awesome drinkers! i wish i was around back then! id love to drink with those guys :P

  • Maybe that red head man at 3:40 is really Chava's father...He sure looks like it.

  • @animeluvr181 The redheaded man looks awful, actually gray in hue!

  • Maybe that red head man is really Chava's father...He sure looks like it.

  • Dance Battle!

  • Welcome to Russia. When we're drunk, we dance awesome, not without falling and diying etc. (In [future] soviet russia, vodka drink you!)

  • Most epic bar dancing scene EVER!

  • EW. The girl is getting married with an old man????!!!!! PERVERT ALERT!!!!!! 0o0

  • Men...disgusting! You don't see the guys the girls accually end up with getting drunk!

  • As our school auditions for this musical we had to dance this song.

They make it look so easy, but I couldn't walk for like a week!

  • This movie makes me want to watch the prince of Egypt again. And Anastasia, just wish that one was on YouTube :(

  • lmao nothing better than a ton of drunk men

  • i love this movie!

  • You're an honest decent person...even though you are a Jew.

  • Tevye's voice is so amazing :)

  • @TwilightLuvvverxxx i KNOW. i love Chaim Topal.

  • I keep hearing his name as laser wolf O_o

  • @LokianGOP that's his name; Lazar Wolf

  • best guy-guy dance scene EVER!

  • not into musicals but i do admit openly this is an awesome movie, as some of you have said, this is a great part no doubt for me it is a personal best.

so damn true, you try to sing and dance and have a good time like that today, immaturity sets in and egos get in the way, a fight would break out for sure. cops called and the night would be ruined.

again damn good movie thank you my friend.

  • That Russian officer, albeit a man of his time, was a decent man for telling Tevye ahead of time,

  • I love how completely smashed everyone is until 6:12 !

  • bad news the quickest way to sober someone up

  • and these russians are officailly PWNAGE dancers

  • these guys can party

  • Tevye is a freaking party animal.

  • the first 6 minutes! NOW THAT IS REAL DRINKING AND PARTYING! a damn shame no one does this anymore, just having one hell of time.

try to do that now a fight would break out police called, some guy or woman blaming the other person about some childish thing.

thank you for sharing this awesome movie my friend.

  • Best scene in the movie! Sorry to say it, as I am a jew, but I think the Russian's won that dance off! hahaha

  • wow got to love drunk jewish men LOL

  • he is right... be a jew is a bless but also a curse :(

    pogroms were horrible

    alot of people died

  • wow wtf!

the jews invented jerking ahahahah at 3:20

  • Now answer me this...why the hell does the Russian at the end have to be such a buzzkill!?

  • @Goddessdaughter Well, I always said when I watched this as a child "Mom, why didn't they just stay drunk? They got along so well!" and well, that Russian cop at the end was on the job, aka sober. So... if he'd not been sober, he'd not have been such a buzzkill

  • the dancers are ukranians, but its still a jewish celebration

  • They should've said " To....To hell with it just drink!"

  • tevye is tripping BALLS at 2:37

  • The jewish culture is very interesting and fun looking.

  • dang i always wonderd what its like to be jewish... they know how to party and ther music is epic!!!!! i love this culture

  • @annabelleforest I wouldn't know, but I'm pretty sure this an everyday bar experience for a Jew. Though if it were, it would be awesome.

  • hahaha the dancing i awesome!!!

  • The want to be husband is older than the dad ... GROSS! .... love this movie though.

  • "i know we are the chosen people.. but once in a while can't you choose someone else?" hahaha

  • i love how open minded tevye is. and yet he is still a very religious man, at least i think so.

  • Best dancing EVER.

  • 1:44 - 1:46 So thats where the high-five came from!

  • To say Slavs are the master race is no better than being a White Supremacist = Nazi! True Hasidik and Orthodox Jews have always wanted their own nation and were willing to kill and do anything to obtain it! But Jews were also Full-fledged Leaders within the Bolshevik party! Stalin's Personal Secretary was a Jew! Long live The Bolshevik Ideal! Long Live the Peace of Lenin!

  • Slavs were not viewed as Aryan

  • @ImpressionSunflower aryan is my name and im not white haha

  • @missaryan

Aryan is not a German term; the Germans stole that from India and it refers to the Indian race who is Caucasian, but albeit a mostly browner skinned one. The Germans also stole the swastika and made inverted it, then made it a bad symbol when in India it means something good.

Lol, I'm German and I'm sick of people getting it wrong. So lol, your name actually has a pretty interesting meaning ^_~

  • @lavenderblossom Thanks! Same here! There's so much ignorance out there!

  • @chefstevekirsch

If only they'd read up, they'd be wiser :]

  • @lavenderblossom In Ashkenazi culture Yiddish is influenced by German language, and to this day many Jewish last names are German or German influenced for example the Suffix Berg or Burg and prefix Gold or Silber(silver). And so many Jews refused to give up their German nationality after the war too. It is a shame in only 12 years so much was destroyed. Hitler could have created Israel, he definitely had the power to do it.

  • @MusikAndLuv the german jews names are mostly used only by jews you cant find a german with a name like "instine" and usaly usually the names are connected with trades to

  • @ 2:22 the Russian summed it up well when he said [may we live together in peace].

If only the world could find a reason to get along.

  • @Mr123me321 Rocky said something similar in Russia.

  • @Mr123me321 watch the ending

  • @speedlemon TRUE

  • @Mr123me321 I guess sharing the same planet should be a reason to get along...

  • @Mr123me321 of course, the russian's blessing is contradicted at the end of Tzeitel's wedding

  • i love their choreography in "lechaim" because it really captures the energy and the cultural spice into it! :D

  • i just found out that we are doing this as our school musical! we did it once 11 years ago, but our eight grade is going to do wayyyyyy better!!!

    who-hoo!!

  • good fucking grief! i wish that i could jump around like that!

  • Tovyes humer is amassing

  • My school is doing this musical...never have I been more excited for a musical.

  • umm thay are sooo hie

  • lol, wow, a son in law thats older than you...sad :P

  • I remember doing this dance in College, I couldn't walk for 3 days my legs were so wiped out.

  • The high note at 1:58 gives me goosebumps! I love it!

  • yea that high note give me goosebumps too. love this film

  • their religion may be a bit restrictive, but at least they can drink :)

  • musicalpooo do you even know Jews?

of course we can drink!! lol you are really Prejudice!

  • @ellatmontagu99

Listen, I live in Utah. There are many pressuring Mormons here, and being an Athiest myself, they're quite rude on occasion. And what do you mean by "Do I know Jews"...do I know the culture? The History? Or individuals?

Culture, being a musician and someone very fond of History, yes.

    History, Very much so.

    individuals, I know 6 :)

Not prejudice, that implies an immediate judgment, or a generalization, i was merely saying that unlike Mormons, you can drink :)

  • @musicalpooo agreed

  • @musicalpooo most religions allow you to drink, but i know in christianity the only restriction is "don't be drunk" but to drink is not forbade.

  • @goodalle1987

I live in Utah, Mormon's can't even drink coffee. For them it's pretty much Mt. Dew lol

  • @goodalle1987 the Bible clearly states in Proverbs not to drink strong drink, meaning alcohol with respect.

  • @musicalpooo thumbs the hell up

  • @musicalpooo they are jews

  • @musicalpooo

Keep in mind, any family can be restrictive and have nothing to do with religion. Especially when it comes to who the parents will allow their kids to date and be friends with. That has nothing to do with religion. There is something to be said though for traditions (as long as they are not overly bizarre).

  • @manguy2000 Yeah, my family is like that. Our culture is Hindu, but my dad is pretty aetheistic. Even so, my parents were very strict about my clothing and my behavior. It had nothing to do with God though.

  • omg i hope they aren;t REALLY going to be married..guess i'll have to watch and find out.

  • This has to be one of my favorite numbers! :)

  • yea drunk guys dance really well...LOL

  • "Once in a while, can't you choose someone else?" LOL

The pogroms are a shameful part of history, really sad. I am glad this movie captures them, and makes them relevant.

  • Drunk dudes dance good :D.

  • Don't worry, Tevye, in a few years, god will choose all of Russia. Lenin's coming to give the Tzar a piece of his mind and his rifle.

  • Same here.

  • as they say "lechiem" :)

  • 6:50 - LOL!!!

  • thank you so much for posting this :)

  • moo.

  • Random :D
