I currently go to one of the cog congregations, I won't say where, but I'd like to see some legitimate websites that document Armstrong's false prophecies and other accusations against Armstrong and his church. I am a Seventh Day Adventist, and I really don't appreciate you labeling it cultic. I have a friend who used to be Worldwide Church of God. SDAs believe way differently than WCG. We reject Old Testament feast days and sabbaths, and the whole disfellowshipping thing. We also accept the Trinity,and you are free to celebrate birthdays and all holidays. Seventh Day Adventists believe the Bible, do you?

I grew up in the church in the late 80's/early 90's. This church did a lot of damage to my life. They knew I was being abused by my father and was counseled to not report it. The minister who didn't report it can't practice as a minister in the state that this happened. They disfellowshipped me, but not this minister or my father.

When I got out of the children's shelter and needed support the most, I was pretty much friendless because I lost all of my church friends which is pretty much all of the people that I could associate with. "The Teachings of the church are biblical". The bible is a collection of stories threw a time period. It was written over 2000 years ago and in my opinion was a way to explain thing that today we understand through science. Many churches are biblical and interpret the bible in different ways. There is no church that has a monopoly on "the truth". I am glad that your friends tell you that they were happy with there experience in wcg. At least that is what they tell you. My ex-wife had issues with it because she, as you, was made to go. I did not grow up in the WWCG, so I have a different perspective than you do because I CHOSE to be a member and was not FORCED to attend. I would just say that the "majority of Christian churches" as you mentioned teach pagan Sun worship.

A 22 year old undergrad student, and I very much enjoy the freedom from religion that I have come to realize as my right in recent years. That being said, I left the church once I was old enough (which by then, the united church of god had come about). All my family members went into united (except my parents), and I stopped going to any church. That was social suicide. I haven't been spoken to by my family in over 10 years. After a few years of struggling, and trying to figure out how to find god, I found books by Richard Dawkins and began to pursue an Education in Biology, which changed to English with a history minor.
I am curious, did you grow up in the church or join? I'm a bit younger than you, but I did grow up in the WCG as well. My father still is really messed up by it even though he left the church years ago. I remember my mother telling me about when the church didn't allow people to join with a "second spouse" and would force them to divorce. She said she had a friend who was forced to split with her husband and keep their kids from him. She shot herself a year after their divorce.

That was one lousey comment you left. His Dad was a crappy employee??? Most jobs in my area are looking for people to work weekends. The days of 9-5 Monday to Friday jobs are a thing of the past. But I guess it's ok for Emergency Service employees to come save your sorry ass on a Saturday if need be. I was a member of the WWCG for 3 years and was ever so happy when I left.

Mr. Armstrong never claimed to be an apostle or a prophet, he always taught that he was teaching a gospel according to Jesus Christ, not a Gospel of Armstrong. He also taught everyone to prove all things and test all things according to the bible. May God forgive all the liars attacking him now. After all, whats the best way to discredit true teaching? by discrediting the teacher with lies and deceit.

I currently go to one of the cog congregations, I won't say where, but I'd like to see some legitimate websites that document Armstrong's false prophecies and other accusations against Armstrong and his church. I go to the church because I agree with obedience to the ten commandments and observance of the original holy days. It seems basic to me and easily provable as fundamental to Christianity.

I'm sorry about what this so called "church" put you through. I dated a girl who grew up in the Philadelphia Church of God, and she had been brainwashed with so many unbiblical beliefs for so many years, that she was incapable of making her own decisions. Armstrong was a false teacher, and damaged the lives of hundreds of thousands. I'm sorry that it turned you away from God, but He still loves you. The real Jesus exists and wants a relationship with you that they never told you about.

I dropped the WWCG but decided to go through the bible to see what it said. Yes I find that there are stories that ar hard to believe, but I also have found alot of logic in the comands and laws themselves. I wonder if those who chose atheism ever tried that or just gave up on it all because of these frauds. It is easy to do that.

I grew up in WWCG.I was being sexually abused by my father and Gerald Flurry in OKC knew about it and told my mother to stay in the marriage!!! When she devorced my father we were "looked down on" in church.. BTW my father went on to ruin and molest another victim and went to prison for 20yrs..Thanks WWCG and Gerald Flurry!! Burn in HELL!!!!

@CallMeFoxx PCOG's "youth camp" in OK, forced a relative of mine to play soccer in 90F when she had a fever. There was no medical professional at the camp. She almost died. When she returned home at the end of the camp, she had puss running out of her ears. For two weeks after, she remained bed-ridden. Her parents forced her out of the house when she no longer wanted to participate in this cult. Because she was a minor, she had no where to go, and walked a busy highway for 1 hr.

I am a Seventh Day Adventist, and I really don't appreciate you labeling it cultic. I have a friend who used to be Worldwide Church of God. SDAs believe way differently than WCG. We reject Old Testament feast days and sabbaths, and the whole disfellowshipping thing. We also accept the Trinity,and you are free to celebrate birthdays and all holidays. Seventh Day Adventists believe the Bible, do you?

They ARE all pagan in origin, and what most people miss - or just don't want to face - is the history behind them. Most of them involved getting drunk/high, having sexual orgies, and then culminated in sacrifice, much of the time this being HUMAN sacrifice. I became a member of the WWCG because I had studied history and books on witchcraft/magic and knew that it is evil.

P. S. Armstong then had his fatal heart attack after he heard how his church was going to be changed. When it was changed, the church split into a dozen different groups. So justice was done! So try to get over it. As for myself, I have come to be grateful that I learned what it was like to live under the old covenant. True Christianity is NOT a joke. Neither is it hard, it is supposed to be very simple. All Jesus asks is to love Him and His Father with all our hearts and love our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus said on these two commands "hang all the law and the prophets". But fake preachers like Amrstrong try to make it hard so they can keep people in their power. But God punished Amrstrong, it is said that he went into a rage when Tkac Sr told him how he was going to change the church when Armstong died.

I grew up in the church in the late 80's/early 90's. This church did a lot of damage to my life. They knew I was being abused by my father and was counseled to not report it. The minister who didn't report it can't practice as a minister in the state that this happened. They disfellowshipped me, but not this minister or my father.

@LRNRQ I was finally removed from my home and placed in a children's shelter. When I got out of the children's shelter and needed support the most, I was pretty much friendless because I lost all of my church friends which is pretty much all of the people that I could associate with. Any 14 year old girl knows how important friends are. Thanks WWCG!

@misfitfirdis I too had major self esteem issues from growing up in this cult which led to my own suicide attempt in later years. I don't point any fingers, but I was taught that I was pretty much damned to hell for having "impure thoughts" by a bunch of zealots more interested in their principles than the suffering and pain caused by them. It poisons your self esteem.

The bible is very easy to understand if you forget everything you was ever taught and start over. Religon is man made but God is a reallity. As per as my experience this church is not true. They said 180 million people would join church in 2008, no one joined. Every year they make new promises telling that mother told, but nothing happens. They have also said that nuclear war will happen next year , and world wont last till 2012. Of course there were good things, it was the only life that you knew! My family joined the church when I was in grade 4. It was a brutal change in my life!! I'm sure that there are alot of us(children of the church)that have alot of anger, I know that I do.

"The Teachings of the church are biblical". The bible is a collection of stories threw a time period. It was written over 2000 years ago and in my opinion was a way to explain thing that today we understand through science. Many churches are biblical and interpret the bible in different ways. There is no church that has a monopoly on "the truth". I am glad that your friends tell you that they were happy with there experience in wcg. At least that is what they tell you. Others had bad times too.

@Sacramentosaint agreed. My own upbringing in the WCG taught me about the endless shell game played by this "search for the truth". Dogma is dogma. This may sound glib, but IMHO there's a reason they call it the bible, and not "the truth" because everyone's take on the truth is different.

I respect your opinion, but I cannot see why you would forsake God just because of what people might have done to you? I can understand where you are coming from, though. My ex-wife had issues with it because she, as you, was made to go. I did not grow up in the WWCG, so I have a different perspective than you do because I CHOSE to be a member and was not FORCED to attend. I would just say that the "majority of Christian churches" as you mentioned teach pagan Sun worship.

I'm now a very militant Atheist, although I still live in the bible belt. I'm still in college. A 22 year old undergrad student, and I very much enjoy the freedom from religion that I have come to realize as my right in recent years. I enjoy helping others (like a friend of mine that came from Mormonism) see the same truth that I see now, with an education in science. Have any questions? Better yet, care to email me your story?

That being said, I left the church once I was old enough (which by then, the united church of god had come about). All my family members went into united (except my parents), and I stopped going to any church. That was social suicide. I haven't been spoken to by my family in over 10 years. After a few years of struggling, and trying to figure out how to find god, I found books by Richard Dawkins and began to pursue an Education in Biology, which changed to English with a history minor.

I am curious, did you grow up in the church or join? I'm a bit younger than you, but I did grow up in the WCG as well. My father still is really messed up by it even though he left the church years ago. I remember my mother telling me about when the church didn't allow people to join with a "second spouse" and would force them to divorce. She said she had a friend who was forced to split with her husband and keep their kids from him. She shot herself a year after their divorce.

You and I are kindred spirits my friend. We are about the same age and we both grew up in wwcg. I am now an atheist. Thank you for posting your experience. There are many like us, many who have been able to come out of religion and live our lives. Keep posting your vids. For a good laugh you should dig up the basil wolverton scare tactic pictures or any of the old pamphlets (like the one on hippies! lol) and do a video on them.
