  • Absolutely hilarious and genius! One of the best Serial Killer movies ever made, with lots of useful information for initiates. Lol!

  • Fuck Maniac, and fuck Shia and Kid Cudi. You fucking plebs should find a better taste in everything if you like them.

  • Shia Labeouf brought me here

  • @Rico11756 o yeah that one dude! He sucks at acting ;-)

  • Thumbs up if #Maniac brought you here (;

  • inspiration for kid cudi's maniac.

  • The problem is that subtitles will never translate accents, and this film is ALL ABOUT ACCENT, the belgian accent (which sounds STUPID, although they're not stupid, i mean not all.. ;-)

  • @ShortGrey1 : I didn't find the accent to be that important in this movie. I mean Poelvoorde's accent is not really thick.

  • This movie was filmed in the 90's. It looks like something from the 60's.

  • Sickness in catching.

  • Nice cinema.

  • can someone explain to me the ending? who shoots Ben? and the crew?

  • @philisacoolguy The brother of the other killer who Ben killed.

  • Nice underground movie that got good succes in Europe, and made as a student graduation movie. Nice needless violence and nice perfomance.

  • So um why did Rémy Belvaux killed himself?

  • I brought this at a store completely by mistake and really liked it. Can anyone recommend me similar films? I've seen a clockwork orange.

  • @withey11 Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

Not quite as good. But based on a true story.

  • @withey11 Try "Buffet froid" with Gérard Dépardieu... somehow similar, but as far as I am concerned highly enjoyable... Also, in another register, but since you mention "A Clockwork Orange", I would advise you to watch "DARK CITY". Have fun...

  • @MasonandDixon Thank you very much

  • Tonight, for one showing only, MY BIG DICK!!! jaja, one of the few movie characters i trully fell in love with.

  • It is a disturbing film, but that's part of what makes it so good, it's not just the violence that makes it disturbing. On the one hand it wouldn't work without the humour (which is sometimes sick, but mostly absurd or plain silly) and on the other hand it has to shock too to make sense (there's some fairly nasty shit there).

Basically it's not just a surreal comedy, crime drama or horror, and it's more than a clever satire.

It's hard to watch in parts but well worth it.

  • @LimeLou Maybe. It does help, when you watch a movie, to have an idea of the sort of thing you're going in for. My 3-year-old daughter likes Barbie movies, and I wouldn't want to sit down with her in front of something advertised as a Barbie movie if it turned out to be a non-canonical 'Barbie: Saw' flick, or whatever. :)

  • @LimeLou I know what you mean, but the movies that have 'humor and death mixed together in a simple way' are actually offending against reality. The thing I like about Man Bites Dog is that it actually takes death seriously, although the main characters don't realise it until it's too late: Ben casually kills people and assumes that nothing bad will happen to him, and the film crew thinks so too, until it starts to get really ugly. I knew before I saw it that it was going to get hard to watch.

  • @LimeLou I don't think that this movie is meant to be all that likeable. I think you're meant to start out liking the main character, Ben, and then you're supposed to find him shocking and despicable. Let's face it, he's a multiple murderer; we should really find him despicable from the outset, but we don't. Why is it okay that he kills lots of people but not okay that he then rapes someone?

  • the killer seems like such a down to earth guy lol but then u see him murdering ppl and dropping their bodies in a dam

  • @LimeLou you can still like a film that you find disturbing, distasteful or unpleasent to watch, especially if that is the intent of the film. This film is satire, not comedy. You aren't supposed to laugh all the way through- you're supposed to laugh sometimes, and be disturbed at other times.

  • very disturbing movie

  • ok i got a question...Is this shit real..or was it just great acting

  • @SEAchefMojii Real.

  • This movie's great. It's kinda like The Red Balloon.

This movie should have been entitled THE LAST GREAT FRENCHMAN

  • @Taeil0151 They're all Belgian

  • @pgfizzleboy That makes more sense but I'll pretend the man's the last great Frenchman. He easily is.

  • When I first saw this movie it seemed surreal and highly unlikely... but today tv-shows following criminals are being made

  • What's great about this film is that its so strong and uncomprimising. It doesn't hold back and becomes intriguing as a result. The subject matter doesn't matter because it's all done with such a genuine feel.

  • My mom and sister came in during the rape and disembowelment scene.

  • is it disturbing? like Irreversible? like to know thx

  • @ttarkus no it is a bad ass flick

  • i really enjoyed this flick it is smart on so many levels

  • The criterion subtitles are the best. I am french and there's not a single mistake in whole the movie.

  • So this is basically like if Kevin Smith did a version of Henry Portrait of a serial killer

  • @blakiecakes419 lol, I didnt notice a bunch of Dick and Fart jokes... (Mallrats fan, dont bite my head off)

  • cinemaa, CINEMAAA!!!

  • best film so far

  • one of the best movies , it's so original and different , i wish there were more like it

  • there are a few in this genre. It's called "found footage". some nice gems in that genre.

  • This is a genius film !

  • I loved it when it came out..in 1993, wasn't it? And I still love it, it's a great movie! 5 stars!:)

  • I think it's 1992, but im not sure...

  • @lovefink2 it was the same year of pulp fiction.Remember a french tv show where tarentino and benoit poolvoerde, the main actor, were present.Tarentino told him he was going to see man bites dog during the cannes film festival when pulp fiction was presented, cause he felt in love of the film poster:p

  • I just watched it . . . a great blend of crime and comedy. . .just made a review of it

mind you, it is rather violent

  • Quel connard ce Poelvoorde!... Il a une case en moins ce type.

    :-)))))

  • trés drole;) lol a ne pas perdre merci Miguel ;)

  • this film was amazing

  • Fantastic film!

  • A totally disturbing marcarbe film.

  • If any one reading this hasn't seen this yet,you have no idea what you are in for....

  • Instant classic.

  • My favorite movie ever!! Not enough good things to say about it....

  • Same here. Discovered it maybe 6 months ago or so, it is currently my favorite movie ever. I do my best to let every one know about it.

  • me too. Did you know the director killed himself? Sucks, he was brilliant, or at least had the potential to be. He also smacked Bill Gates in the face with a pie. HA !

  • @alejandro15187 really the same guy who directed this hit old bill with a pie in that famous moment?

  • @alejandro15187 I read an article in a French newspaper that suggested that the director may have killed himself out of depression after a girlfriend of his had died. If it's true, very sad indeed. But he did make this one amazing movie. RIP.

  • 1 of my all time favorite foreign films. :) beautiful

  • I own this film and it's well worth checking out. This is an extremely well edited trailer.

  • I LOVED this. found it in a charity shop (well, my ex did). the bit with the young couple really hit me hard, scared the hell out of me for weeks; used to feel protected when i had a bloke around! no more! buy it, its great!

  • I was thinking of buying this movie. Looks pretty funny in a dark kind of way.

  • one of the greatest movies of the last 20 years. Better than Natural Born Killers. Wickedly witty. Have these brilliant guys made any movies since, cuz the potential evident here is great

  • the director commited suicide a few years ago. very sad

  • He did? His name? I thought the film's direction was a joint project including the film's star who, by the way, I'm 95% sure I saw crossing Silver Lake Blvd. in L.A. about a year ago. How sad. Thanks for telling me. Nickolas

  • definitely an interesting movie. i love the tips on how to weigh down bodies in water. you'll have to see the movie to get the punchline. not an easy one to watch but well worth it.

  • this movie was crazy...

    i loved it.

  • This movie was painful!
