Johnny Cash carried himself in a up-right commanding way with his unmistakeable voice and almost Jeffersonian appearance. I think he was a bit of all of us and a credit to America's heritage. I miss Johnny Cash, but I am sure I'll hear him sing again up yonder in a little while.
This is more than powerful. It is making me cry it is so beautiful and has personal meaning. I grew up listening to 'mountain' gospel songs. I grew up listening to mountain harmonies. When I was young I thought it was funny singing when we went back to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Now it is my favorite music. So many are gone, but the music remains. His mama is beautiful and this video is a treasure! I can't thank you enough for posting.
@MyMoppet52 It is literally my pleasure. I'm like an evangelist for Johnny Cash and the ideals he represented. Glad it moved you; confidentially, this clip has the same effect on me!
@abargle Johnny Cash's ideals were, to put it mildly, all over the map. Some were even strange. Like his friend Merle Kilgore once said, "Genius comes in the oddest packages".
Incredible...... wow! Unbelievable that film clips like this exist..... Thanks to YouTube we can relive some golden moments from the past.... where are the great music people of 2010? Johnny Cash... one of the best of the 20th century......
Mama Cash has that great church-y stoicism. I'd never seen them together... and singing, no less! Thanks, abargle! You are performing an amazing public service here.
If this isn't special, pray tell me what is. One of many special memories I have with my mom is, dancing with her the day I was married. She's been gone six years, but she returns many nights in my dreams. Anybody who has issues with their mom needs to ment them ASAP, because when she is called home, that's the end of any chance to put things right.
i am 70 year old and when i here this i think of my mom so much. she was a mom of thirteen . what a great mom she was. she would have loved this song. thanks for posting it
What a wonderful moment in a man's life. To be able to sing good ole gospel music with his mom and share it with the world. I lost my Mom when I was five years old and every time I sing a song, I can see her smile and playing along on her piano. I will see you again one day mom! Thanks for this wonderful video.
amen he got a chance to sing with his mother something to be cherished,im a so called rough tough kind a guy but you want to see me right now, hopefully through the lord we will meet again mama
A local band in Durango wrote a song called tribute about Johnny Cash. My favorite line in that song is, "If you tell me you don't like any song by Johnny Cash, I'm sorry but Mister, you're a liar"
This was very special. You could tell JR loved his mom very much. I had the privelage to meet his younger brother "Tommy" who also is singing. This was when June had passed and JR was ill. Tommy is a very special man too but he will forever live in his brothers shadow. Have his CD actually. He has talent but he is not JR. Does everyone know that "Johnny is not his real name..he was named "JR Cash". He took the stage name "Johnny Cash" and he always would say.."hello I'm Johnny Cash"
I'm not so famous like he was, but Ihad the same priviledge:play the guitar and sing with my mother in the church and more than this, we had the enjoyment of praising the lLord AT HOME. Now, she's there wáiting for me at THE HOME FAR AWAY.
Thanks so much for posting. This was great that his MOM could play for him. U don't see to many of the family members playing for their children to sing. I give this one 5***** for sure.
Lol oddly enough I was about to say the same thing till I saw you had then I jumped out of my seat but yeah It's cool to see his mom with him oh and the reason I almost jumped out of my seat Jeffrey from Rolla,Mo
I totally agree, he's better than Elvis. Johnny was a special gift from God, and he knew it. Today there are people who looks and sounds like Elvis, but nobody looks or sound like Johnny. That's because he's special.
Emmsoo,.... I couldn't agree with you more, what you've written you've hit the nail right on the head. From the email I clicked onto your website and played the song "One piece at a time" I'd never heard it before, and as I listened to the song I soon realized why Johnny was singing the song smiling all the while. I watched and listened through both tears and laughter. The end part was real funny when asked what model was the car. Your right, there is nobody like Johnny. Thanks for the email.
Johnny Cash is my most favourite singer. I mostly only play Johnny Cash CD's because I like to listen to, Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash and more Johnny Cash.
I just love to listen to Johnny's rich baritone voice.
Wow! That was awesome, to see Johnny and hi Mom, performing together! I've never heard this song done so slow before. Few could 'pull it off.' The Cash's did! :c) Great post! 5 Star's!
hehe...love that voice, and that piano...
