Japan will bog herself down in the swamp of socialism. All democracies after a major economic breakdown follow the same pattern.
Democracies can be incredibly self-serving in a big way. If the country's leader has no guts to tell the people the right way, the people will keep on demanding protections and aid. This spiral of dependencies destroys the economy as the ethos of competition and financial independence get lost.

Anyway, the best quality of Mrs T was this - she had the courage and guts to be hated by her own people if she thought that the people were wrongly guided. This is an incredibly noble thing to do for any leader, and very few can do it.
Japan had a few PMs with guts but they are long gone. The ones we have had recently were all socialists, had no bottom, no spine, no class.

My country Japan has been successful in some areas and still is the 2nd largest economy in the world after two decades of deep recession and social unrest. Britain has stepped down as the world leader but her dignity and style are still intact. Her intelligence infrastructure and will to remain as a country to be reckoned with are still intact. On the other hand, look at Japan. It is now a country with no bottom, no background and no dignity. Mrs Thatcher, please come to Japan and be our PM.
