I remember that this song had been released right before there was a bad tornado in our town with some fatalities.Every time I hear it,I remember how it looked and how a lot of people actually had hope listening to it, when this was played on the local stations.
Every time I hear this song it always reminds me of The ORIGINAL Posidon adventure. Great film. One of Leslie Neilsons few serious roles. Thanks for posting this
Award winning song from a wonderful movie that I saw in 1975 just as a Government imposed Hollywood movie import embargo had ended. The version on the soundtrack was sung by Renée Armand, though Maureen McGovern had a big hit with the song.
I love this video for 3 reasons. 1.) It's sung by Maureen McGovern who I have personally met on several occassions and her voice will always be the only voice I want to hear sing this song. 2.) The editing of the boat capsizing to "The Morning After" on this video is to me superior to any other "Morning After" video showing scenes from the movie (the ORIGINAL.) 3.) The movie "Beyond The Poseidon Adventure" and the awful re-make from a few years back sucked in every way! There's no comparison.
Maureen hit #1 in Billboard, 8-14-73. Makes me wonder if Carol Lynley even TRIED to sing it, before Renee Armand was called in for Carol to lip-synch to? God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!
I always thought "Poseidon Adventure" was a mediocre/OK movie at best until I saw james cameron's "movie" titanic in which I realized what an absolute masterpiece Poseidon Adventure was IN COMPARISON to utter harlequin trash of james cameron's "movie" titanic......
It's a goddamned Succubus!!! Succubus trying to take my baby!!! Now listen here Succubus, we work hard for our money, u cant take Chef!! Hang on, lemme see if I have three fifty!! God Dang it woman, dont be offering the Succubus no tree fitty!!! At least start at a buck two five or something!!!
Eternal. I respect the new version but this will be in my heart as unforgettable, with this beautiful song in Maureen's amazing voice and interpretation, it became emblematic of a decade and my best youthful dreams .
Thanks for putting this here , it means a lot to me...
Doesn't anyone LISTEN to this song and absorb the healing symphony it broadcasts? This gives hope, not obama or democrats. I mean listen to the Harp being played at the beginning. What beautiful music. Try to find that instrument in music of today. You won't! Many of you just miss the happiness and encouragement. And that is just too bad.
EXCELENTE PELÍCULA QUE MARCÓ MI EXISTENCIA PORQUE DURANTE NUESTRA VIDA VAMOS A TENER MUCHOS PROBLEMAS, PERO DEBEMOS TENER EL VALOR DE SUPERARLOS CON PERSEVERANCIA.
@teehonky the fact that your sentence makes no sense in relation to my comment, is grammatically incorrect and poorly punctuated, helps prove that; you are clearly not clever and your jokes aren't either. Love how the Red Buttons and Carol Lynley characters hook up over the course of the story. He saves her life several times over, and she responds. Without the disaster, they'd never have spoken a word to each other.
I've always liked the song, but I've never seen the movie in its entirety. Now I'll have to go to Netflix and see if they have it. Almost looks like a prototype for the 1997 movie Titanic only slightly cheesier. That one gal who dives into the water reminds me of Kathy Bates.
@belladeballe Believe me, 1997's Titanic did not come close to the original. The original was GREAT!!!! By the way, the Kathy Bates "look alike" was Shelly Winters. Excellent actress as well.
@segerfan Correction, POSEIDON ADVENTURE of yesteryear was a thousand times better than the one that surfaced (no pun intended) several years ago. And as regards being an idiot, FICTION is spelled with an I. Your post made me laught!!!! Be well.
@gooboo1000 Agree!!! Today’s music and movies suck the big one! Titanic was a lame ass queer movie and that song in the movie sounds like a broken record which repeats like indigestion.
