Jackson was a great soldier, who fought for the wrong cause.
Virginia's popularity from the revolutionary war days carried a blinding faith to people like Jackson and Lee, who felt that just because Virginia was the birth place of 7 presidents and was the final main catalyst in declaring independence from England, that is bore more importance than the rest of the much larger nation.
Ever since the Civil war Virginia has never regained the pride she had before it. She is a relic.
@mrceebees14 My family mostly fought for the north...but I believe you are wrong...he fought for what he thought was right. Just because the South lost, does not mean he fought for the wrong cause. Jackson was not an egotist and even Lee when the battle was lost and the war was lost said it was God's wish. In all due respect.....these two men were great men.
@mrceebees14 Thats a great honor...and should live with Virginia today. They honor men like Jefferson...and without these great men...America would never have been.
@mrceebees14 You accurately term post-War Virginia a "relic." The victors' greed and vengeance, illegally passed 14th Amendment, radical reconstruction, and coming Gilded Age ensured that for the traditional Virginia and Jefferson/Randolph/Calhoun South. Along, of course, with the founding principles of 18th century rationalism and liberalism. But like Mozart (another relic) they will be cherished in ages to come when the Lady Gagas, Madonas, and Obamas respose in well-deserved obscurity. .
What you claim is nonsense. Dissenting views are never censored. NEVER ! I will however not allow my vid to be a platform for personal attacks or hateful, uncalled for remarks about the men who gave their lives in battle. People can respectfully disagree. That will aways be welcome. Be respectful of others. If not, y'all know what will happen.
@71superbee3 actually I dont post nonsense on youtube,I save that for twitter.I dont apologize for my views,I dont care for censorship, but I do appreciate the video,no such thing as respectfully disagreeing, especially here on the wasteland called Youtube.I dont respect all those involved in the Civil war, only the confederacy,. yankees are and where tyrants and I view them with piss and vinegar in my veins,I dont care to associate with yankees, and they are not my brothers
@71superbee3 I want to apologize for cluttering up this comment board with a retarded, petty argument i had with the above poster. A video honoring an American hero such as this, doesnt deserve the exchange we had.
I had to do some house cleaning here but you are correct that this is a vid to honor the memory of "Stonewall" The south was fighting to preserve states rights and thereby the original intent of the constitution. The whole notion of a "civil" war is inaccurate because the south was not fighting to take control. They wanted to leave the Union.
since everyone likes Jackson I won't say anything . But I'll bet ten U.S.dollars the room and house Jackson died in did not look like this. In the middle of a war all that fine furniture! Come On!!
I've been to the very room where Jackson died, the building does indeed still stand in Guinea Station, Virginia. They can look at property taxes at the time and determine what kind of furnitute many of these old buildings had. The only difference between the movie and the real place is the arrangement of the furniture.
@RevBillyRayCollins Sir I did not make the comment of "Where is my ten bucks" I have no idea of why it's there. However the room where Jackson died couldn't of looked that well kept and with the fine furnishing . The artillery would of knocked clocks off the wall . I'm sure before the armies met the little plantation office was nice. I saw a photo taken and on the back was written room where Jackson died and it was a mess. But I'm sure it 's restored and grand it'd be to see.
@RevBillyRayCollins Sir I did not make that final comment"Where is my ten bucks". What I meant was that room was so neat . The artillery alone would of knocked things off the walls. I've seen an old photo of the room , on the back was written room where Jackson died. It was a total mess. I 'm sure it's been restored and grand it'd be to see
@Ms2blackcats Artillery from where? The building he died in wasn't exactly near in battlefield. Yes I've seen the photo you refer to and I don't believe that was the state of condition when they had Jackson there. Perhaps sometime later, but not during.
The author of this vid is also a Yankee with the bulk of my family being born and raised in the South. Well, with my father from the south and mother from the north .... guess that makes me a Rebkee.
Thank you to all the Confederate soldiers for all your sacrifices you made. God bless you all. Thank you for fighting tyranny. We love you. God bless the Confederate States of America.
God bless Jackson and Lee and all of those in grey who laid down their lives in the name of liberty. Their only gift was to have lived to see the states free, even in their deaths.
@ebannaw Free from a tyrrany because one of the main reasons they fought was because of states rights along with fighting for their homes and familys because back then states were like individual countries almost and when Lincoln was elected he raised the taxes on goods so many went bankrupt, thats why they called it the "Second War of Independence".
@AUG351 Southern land was U.S. property. The south in seceeding is like me owning a building I rent to you and just because you live there, you turn around to me and say "this place is now mine, go F yourself."
Only this was the south stealing HALF of the country, not a state......HALF of what the federal govt owned, paid for and protected through blood.
The south had no right to that land..........no sir.......no right.
@mrceebees14 Your logic is extremely flawed... The federal government is merely a "union" of the states... not an entity in itself. At what point did the Federal government pay for and protect the land through blood? Again, the Federal government has no "blood".. they have the citizens of the STATES that give their lives...
@jaxup1985 The Union is one governing federal body of states that has a centralized government. That centralized government has jurisdiction over state government where it applies, trying to up and take more then a handful of states is treason and would be in ANY country. Those southern states like all states have federal funded institutions there. Everything is regulated by the central government, which states governments have representatives to represent individual states interests.
@jaxup1985 If there is anyone who is flawed here, it's you trying to justify stealing and not know the basics of how our government is set up. I hope you aren't American, but if you are, then it does not surprise me, many people have no idea how it works but complain and pull arguments out of their rear like you are doing.
Stealing is stealing, that is what secession is.
Idiot, land belongs to the ones who are strong enough to take it. It's an old saying and true.
@mrceebees14 LOL.... "Stealing is Stealing... that's what secession is." And then literally the next line... " Idiot, land belongs to the ones who are strong enough to take it... it's an old saying and true." If you need me to I'll explain (in depth) the flaws in that comment. and yes I'm American... and willing to bet my education far surpasses yours.
@mrceebees14 LoL. Jesus, seriously? Your logic: Secession = Stealing... but also "Land belongs to those strong enough to take it". So, if the south had won the war.. by your own logic... They wouldn't have stolen anything... as... like you said... they were strong enough to take it so it actually belonged to them. So if it actually belonged to them then it wasn't stealing... and if stealing = secession... then they never seceded at all which would in fact imply that they were always SOVEREIGN.
@jaxup1985 My point is that those two comments are contradictory... I'll end with a quote from the Declaration of Independence "Governments derive their just power from the UNANIMOUS consent of the governed". Done.
Confederate declaration of independence states "BLACKS ARE NOT EQUAL TO RIGHTS." As long as cotton was king and the south made its money, slavery was not going to be abolished any time soon and you know it.
It was wrong, slavery was always wrong. The south fought to preserve it.
@mrceebees14 Lol, I swear to god I think I would get a more intelligent response from a potato. Before I even attempt to translate your apparent direct quoting of the Confederate declaration of independence "Blacks are not equal to rights"... I first have to inform you that there was never a "Confederate declaration of independence". Every state seceded separately the only document introduced was a Joint resolution (Bill #16) that recognized the confederacy.
@mrceebees14 I find it funny that earlier you criticized some people for "not knowing how the government works and just pull arguments out of their rear"... and then you proceed to materialize an entire declaration of independence out of thin air. So to respond sir... Your quote is not only sourced where you said it was... but it doesn't even exist (not to mention you didn't even use correct grammar).
@jaxup1985 They seceeded when they fired on fort sumter, among others things, Union property with the aim of killing government soldiers. When you fire on the soldiers of a nation, you are essentially starting a war. A war that up to that point, was NOT provoked using physical means by the Union.
Words were not enough, the south wanted war, and you got it and lost as a result.
Southern cities torched was the souths fault. Now cry me a river and drown in it.
@mrceebees14 The other incorrect statements you made as fact are as follows (A quick google search will confirm). 1. The State of South Carolina seceded long before the attack on Fort Sumter. They notified the union and gave them a timeline on removing their garrison otherwise they would be removed forcibly.
2. I was never crying... why would I cry because southern cities got torched 150 years ago? How does this effect me again?
@mrceebees14 3. I don't think the South necessarily wanted war but I will say they expected it. But why do you say "The south wanted war and YOU got it" ... I'm not "The South" or the "Confederate States of America"... why would you assume such? I'm simply the guy who's making you look dumb on the internet. I would also like to point out to the general public that you didn't respond to any of the points I made previously. You basically said "Yeah, well slavery was bad!". Thanks Captain Obvious.
@mrceebees14 Fort Sumter was Union property only in the sense that the capitol building and White House were Southern property. The United States was accorded ample time to remove its armed garrison from Ft. Sumter; however, Lincoln chose to use it as an excuse to invade a sovereign nation that wanted nothing from the North but its freedom. As for your other (prolific) comments, if you want to know when the Declaration and the Constitution died, try 9 April 1865 Appomatix Court House, VA.
@mrceebees14 And please... while you are at it... enlighten me (just on the key points of course) on what I said that was so obviously in conflict with how the Federal government is set up. Comical...
@mrceebees14 Actually, It's more like ME owning a restaurant using a franchise tag.. Just for simplicity sake let's use "McDonalds" . Now I own the restaurant and you own the franchise tag. You decide you are going to up the cost for me to keep a franchise tag and have a few policy changes you want to implement. I decide it's in my best interest to venture out on my own and tell you we should break our agreement and go seperate ways. Then you tell me to "F" off and slap me around a bit.
