@rockguitarist946 The Ferrocarril Del Pacifico was est in 1951 after Mexico purchased the line Nogales to Guadalajara from Southern Pacific FCP was best know for big Alco engines such asFPA 2 RSD12 C628 they also purchased U30c and U23B from GE in the late 70's NdeM started to take control of all of the Railroads in Mexico to make one system. FCP was absorbed in the 80s thus the FNM was created, in the 90s it slit in 3 TFM FSRR and Ferromex which was given FCPs line
i have this video and let me tell you,ths video is awesome.Quick note:former FCPdidnt like EMD's they trade 4 sd40's in the 13000(VMV paducah rebuilds) series for 4 brand new GE C30-7 from NdeM.pacifico up until the end was all ALCO-MLW-GE long live ferrocarril del pacifico
Excellent video. But upload also the Central and Northern Mexico rails! Don´t forget the Copper Canyon video!. Excelente video, uno de los mejores documentales de trenes de México. 5***** y favoritos.
train orders, thats very rare now in the usa as technoligy took that place, elgin joliet and eastern still does this and a few others, i have only had that done on my route a couple times in the past 15 years
Boy if only they could see the roads down in Mexico now. Lots of those tracks are now owned by KCS De M or Ferromex.
Once Mexico opened its flood gates to us American railroads what did we do? We put our stuff on their lines and made their railroads into important international importing and exporting gateways.
@HyperActive7 A lot changed, basically a stady modernization, it used to be a contrast between the new and old working side by side, Mexico had SD40-2's a 4-8-4's working side by side for a few months, what was new in 1990 is now the old, the alcos are gone and few are preserved. One thing is that KCSM and FXE do NOT own the railroad, but are concessioned to be the operators, the Mexican Goverment owns the track and ROW.
@SBC1344 I'm not at all surprised you said the government controls the rails. I should know they are different from us where our rails are privately owned by the company itself.
Now as for the other part of this,
That's a real shame but it surprises me Mexico has more money then they are letting on. KCS DE M isn't the biggest carrier there either, Ferromex is the only big one left there if I remember right. TFM really wasn't that big of a road like many believe it was.
@SBC1344 If you look at TFM it only went as far as Mexico City whereas Ferromex goes practically all over the country. Now South of Mexico City is unique because once you get south you run into all those other countries. Anyway, I don't really know how many true Mexican lines are left besides Ferromex so thanks for the info :)
No, They are using the primitive Token System. Some other railroads practise this method of tracking a locomotive. KTMB Railroad also uses this system to.
These engines were tired when they retired from there previous locations!
