I've had a few snakes that I couldn't get photo's of even with a hide. They weren't have it on that day, but the hide normally makes them feel so much more cooperative.
Wow, the hide idea is genius... Everytime I go to take pics of my ball pythons they are in the mood to roam! Looks like your colubrids are even worse than my ball pythons though :P
