  • This entire video lost all its credibility with the contrast setting of 86.

Highlights start getting blown starting at 73, let alone 86. Fail.

  • Apple Cinema is a piece of junk.

  • I have a 5-year-old 20" Apple Cinema and it completely beats this new POS of an LCD monitor that goes by the name of Dell 2309W 23". Cant game or do Photoshop cause the colors/temp/bri/contrast are so off compared to the old Apple one.

  • would this give make a game like crysis or any other pc game like WoW look good or possibly great?

  • Thanks for the information mate. I'm about to buy one of these so this is useful stuff :)

  • Man at that brightness and contrast you're gonna burn your eyes out!.

Rich colour is nice but easy on the brightness

  • Hm, I really don't like your settings. It's too yellow, especially if I compare it to the standard cool setting. I think that's a good setting, it looks more natural and whites are more white.

  • I had to match it as much as I could with my iMac's screen. I loved the way my iMac's screen looked so that was the closest I could get to it.

  • Yeah, I get it and that's maybe why it's so yellowish. Macs use a different color profile than Windows computers. I compared it with my Thinkpad, but even when I didn't compare it, I saw the difference in white level with the cool setting and your setting.

But hey, everybody got their preferences.

  • Well, it's not that Windows uses a different colour profile than Macs, it's that the technology of the iMac screen is completely different then that of the Dell screen.

The Dell screen is a TN Panel which tends to be generally cooler in colours and slightly softer on the edges. The iMac's screen is NOT a TN panel and it uses a completely different technology in which the native colour is generally rich and warm. Matching a TN and non-TN panel's colour scheme was a challenge :-).

  • thanks for this one man!

  • Thanks for the video! My monitor just came in the mail but the default settings looked kind of odd. I'll give your settings a shot.

  • There are some other great Samsung models, 2333sw and 2433bw (you can search on youtube). When you watch bluray movies does the Dell s2309w equally compare to the above-mentioned Samsung models, quality wise? Im thinking of buying the Dell s2309w, what would you say about the picture quality, is it crystal clear?

  • are there noise issues with this display?

  • none that I can see n im very paranoid about noise, dead pixels etc..

  • any color suggestions for using this on an xbox360

  • You would want slightly colder colours to have a crisper image for gaming :-)

  • what wallpaper do u have???

  • I googled "abstract art" and found this one. Did a mirror image to both displays

  • Alright thanks for the tip.

  • nice settings man... but in my room it's way too bright! XD

But it helped give me an idea.

  • optimal brightness for most people is around 60% so try that. I like my screens vibrant :-)

  • are these settings good for gaming aswell

  • For gaming, you wanna make sure that your colours are vibrant n you control this by your contrast. So play around with that. I play Need for Speed and it looks fantastic!!! Like you can SEE the colours :-) Hope this helped.

  • cool settings.
