  • *face palm* Do not sharpen your knife like this. Watch a Murray Carter sharpening video and use that method.

  • Last time I sharpened a knife I almost cut my thumb off

  • im just asking how will you sharpen an AK-47 bayonet? its one side has a sharp side

  • you realy and i mean REALY tell everyone to check what kind of stone they have

as oil stones have to be ONLY used with oil (like yours)

but you also have water stones wich can ONLY be used with water

its just a little something to keep ppl of your back saying you ruined my sharpening stone

everything else is good a nice video

  • i HAVE 2 hunting BUCK Knifes, and same kind of stonem but the steel on the dam bucks is so dam hard, it takes hours to get any kind of edge on it, an help? I always have to take them to a shop who has a belt unit, then they are very sharp for a long time, can do 3 or 4 mose with it befor needs again

  • the same way i sharpen mine but i live in sweden now and its hard to know what oil to use, back home i used 3 i 1 oil which was brilliant but the most oils here i find are in spray cans, found a small carton of oil for a bike but i have not tested it yet.

  • @kiyo4356 Tips for double edged knife. Unless you do a lot of pig sticking or are a wanabe assassin throw it away and buy a knife you can use with a single cutting edge. The trick is to buy a knife with a use in mind not just buy knives. Spend a lot of money on quality and only do it once.

  • @kiyo4356 Wear gloves, do the same thing on both sides.

  • @TzunSu I do not wear gloves when sharpening as what you feel through your finger tips is just as important as what you see and hear when sharpening. All the way through the video he was saying do the same to both sides of blade

  • @labrat7357 On double edged knives you use gloves because there is a very, very real risk of cutting yourself badly if your working on a dagger shape without gloves.

  • Depending on what stone you use, you may not need to use oil. Japanese water stones for instance, yep, you guessed it.. you use water. soak it in the water for 5-10 minutes. Japanese water stones are normally more effective.

  • no i use honing oil

  • This kid was awesome i cant believe he died :(

  • @lnclincoln he died?

  • how did people find out he died?

  • rip man

  • what happened to him?

  • is that Reminton gun oil?

  • @shavefan12 yea

  • do you always gotta put oil or water on the stone. i got a stone from someone and i try sharpening it with no liquid on it and they wont cut shit.

  • what kind of stone is that

  • RIP, Bryan.

  • tyvm i was lookin for such a tutorial! i hope it helps...

  • its all good except the gerber part...lol,jk

just never really liked their knives

    also prefer water over oil

    nice vid though

  • I recently bought like one of those small cheap gervers just for camping till kill snakes and slim down trees and I need to know the best way to sharpen it cuz I've killed so many snakes I will post a vid of it and after postin can u show me the best way to sharpen it?

  • What are the grits and who is the maker if this stone

  • RIP mate

  • Comment removed

  • @dmagicain0 His name was Brian.

  • are the double sided sharpening stones from home dopot or hardware stores ok. Also is this the method you use usually?

  • If you don't need a razor sharp edge.

  • I have the same knife as u =P

  • mine cost 20 dollars how much did urs cost

  • @HCDDWarhero I dont have any oil for the occasion, my dad said to spit on it... would this tear up my buck 119?

  • @HCDDWarhero be funny if it really was

  • @superdeath1997 15 euros

  • i have that same knife

  • would I use the coarse side first and then the fine side or does it matter. also was the name of that oil Remington Oil thats what it looks like.

  • It's Rem oil which is made by Remington. I started on the coatse and ended on the smooth side too. The gerber diamond sharpene, depending on which one you get, all you have to do is slide the knife in it at a 90 degree angle.

  • i just got the smiths diamond sharpener with coarse and fine grits. would I sharpen the knife the same way u sharpened urs

    thnx

  • whats the old cb in background looks like old cobra 2000 but no counter?

  • It's not mine.

  • did u just cut your homework up, nice... but anyway you should use a leather strop after you get the edge where you want it... i use 1200 wet or dry sand paper.. i got mine shaving sharp

  • i have that same gerber, i use it as my buck knife i got it razor sharp, i call it my $21 wal-mart special

  • dude, you need a tripod

  • Is that a Titanium Knife???

  • It's Titanium coated.

  • That is a Titanium Knife?

  • I have a 20 year old Buck 119 Special that is very dull.....will this work for it and also on my pocket knives? thanks

  • Yes it will. With a bigger blade such as the 119 you might want to use a little bit bigger angle though.

  • thanks ill try and pick a stone up at lowes or home depot....if u dont have the oil what else can you use? and do you know of any thing to make it shiny again?

  • You can use olive oil. You can use water if it's a water stone. You can also use wd-40, rem oil, car oil, gun solvents, pretty much anything that lubricates.

  • even his and hers sex lube?!? jk k i have oil for my guns so ill use that thanks man

  • Yes that would work. :P

  • This is the best video on sharpening knives of all of them. The Norton stone cost $6.00 from Home Depot and the Rem cost $2.00 from Walmart. For stropping I would suggest getting the raw leather pieces (package) from Hobby Lobby and glue the rough side of one of the large apiece to a board to make a paddle for holding. Use Turtle wax rubbing compound heavy duty as a abrasive. Work the wax into the leather and it works great ! This stuff is used to take out scratches on paint finishes.

  • What kind and brand of stone do you use and where does one buy it ?

  • "Norton" Home Depot.

  • What store can you buy Rem oil son?

What store a strop too if u know?

  • You can buy both online liek Ebay or Amazon. I know you can get Rem Oil and a strop at Home-Depot, Lowes, and usually Walmart.

  • do i have to use oil? and if i do is olive oil ok?

  • Yes. Usin oil make it about another 89% more effective. Olive Oil will work but it wont be very good.

  • Is it important to put the oil on in zigzag formation?

  • Not at all. Just make sure there is a fairly even coat on the whole stone.

    Good luck =)

  • Looks like your house was exposed to a little flooding.

  • Thats my shed....

  • Nice shed!

  • lol thank you. We built it.

  • Nice Vid

  • great vid

  • this was very helpful. thank you.
