  • Best barrel kit = bag full of CP one pieces.

  • HATER MOFO FTW

  • that's it i'm sticking to my proto 1pc barrel LOLZ!!!

  • maybe if you use first strike rounds and a hammerhead barrel. So you could test first strike rounds with the cp .685 and the bangstikks and the mofo and then test the hammerhead barrel.

  • Just so you know, in science your data is dismissed as inconclusive automatically because your standard deviation for the measurements of the 'x' and 'y' are much larger than the averages themselves. You would see this right away if you actually publish data in a proper way, not just in a table format (which hides this). If you graph your data you will see the error bars are HUGE and show that no differences or comparisons can be made.

  • @titus131988

that isn't even close to true. the numerical value of the mean has no bearing on the standard deviation. this is becuase the mean is an average of positive and negative values, and ideally would be zero.

  • @gerglmuff I know how you want it to be, but you wont see what I'm talking about unless you actually try a statistical test like ANOVA. Not to mention, you can't persuade anyone who actually do research, you need to show statistical analysis to prove that it isn't by chance that you achieved your results. Having a larger mean or equal means nothing. You would see with your data that even though the means are similar, the SD are so large statistical significance can't be generated.

  • @titus131988

we publish all our data, so if you want to do ANOVA feel free. do whatever you want with the data, feel free.

the mean means nothing in this data set. that is just the center of the pattern. the Standard deviation shows how large and destrubted the data is, or how large the pattern is. this is what we are measuring. we are not comparing means, we are comparing pattern sizes.

  • I use a BangStikxx with a Python sizer kit on my Tippmann A5 and at the beginning of each new box I size the paint. The barrel makes an amazing difference to both accuracy and range. I have easily out ranged other A5's in the same conditions using lesser barrels

  • I have to say your review was a lot of effort for nothing, for one you go off about not seeing spin but your high speed camera maybe shows 10 frames of the paintball in flight and is very grainy so yes spin is not observable do to you using poor equipment. secondly you claim to not be able to post your accuracy tests because your computer will crash. Bullshit!!! how many 12 year olds have accuracy tests on you tube? give me a break. I own a hammerhead and love it. This review is crap

  • @skralogy

we actually have measured everything from about 30 rpm up to 25000+ rpm with our camera, so it is more the capable of capturing the spin from a hammerhead.

  • yes gregblunier, spamming will not in any way reflect poorly on your statement. by all means, spam away to get the people behind you.

  • I find it VERY hard to believe they said to size each paintball. (about 1 minute in)

I am sponsored by Hammerhead and know Paul and Robert. They have never said this to me.

The barrels work for our team "all the time, every time"

Spin rate was carefully designed for best flight.

We love them and would encourage anyone who is interested to try a Hammerhead for themselves.

Small bored rifled barrel, that have they, the bore is .684.

  • I have the MILSIG Marksman Barrel another rifled barrel & when I'm firing @300FPS it gives the paintball 2 much of a spin giving it a weird clockwise curve ball but when I'm firing it within 275-280 the shot doesnt have as much of a crazy curve ball effect thus meaning it does give it a clockwise spiral. I know u said that ALL barrels give the paintball a spiraling effect but does it give it the same consistently direction spin? Wouldn't having a rifled barrel aid in a consistent direction spin?

  • yeh with rifling, the paintballs would have to all be the same size to get good consistency. you have to understand how rifling works to understand that rifling doesnt really work with paintballs lmao.

  • Sorry, that's classified. It is not a barrel. Buy the mofo, you won't regret it.

  • nice punkworks shirt

  • I have an Armson Stealth and it shoots beautifully. Its really accurate, but I dont know if its the quality more than the rifling lol. But it sure does shoot through breaks!!

  • maybe the new tiberius first strike round with its fins might fit the rifling of the hammer head barrel

  • Hammerhead has something up their sleeve, just wait a year or so....;)

  • you can not spin a sphere with rifling... thats why bullets fly true and straight. a "ball" will NEVER EVER spin just because of a barrel or fly straighter. hammerhead = ripoff

    awesome review

  • i saw mush better accuracy with a hammerhead on my ION. but i hear they are hit or miss. try a item out and then make a desicion for yourself

  • You should also quote tom's results on rifling, they can be found on automags'org in tom's tech tips.

  • what about a rifled barrel and tiberious rounds i know the spin allready but the fins might grip the rifling

  • you can underbore with the HH cp, with both of my kits, I was always shooting .686 or less with .689+ paintballs. However the effect wouldnt matter as the actual rifling in the barrel is a larger diameter, now if they had 1 piece rifled barrels with a specific bore throughout... now that'd be something to test :P

  • Sounds like trying to spin an egg that hasn't been boiled, good point man!

  • Going through the barrel, paintball may spin in every direction, a bullet only in one. The most probable paintball spin direction is the direction of the barrel (I mean nothing like gyroscopic spin). Getting gyroscopic spin is not impossible, but pretty hard, I think that rifling is not a mandatory factor to get it...

  • Does ANYBODY realize that a spiral rifled barrel is completely destructive to a spherical projectile!!!!!!! The riffeling allows the air pushing the ball out of the barrel to escape AROUND the ball as it is fired!!! Why has no one realized this!??! Your velocity will decrease, because air that would normally be vented at the porting areas of the barrel (after it has pushed the ball past the 4-7 inches of the barrel needed to accelerate) escapes around the ball through the riffled grooves Grr

  • isn't that the same thing as overboring?

  • yeah dude, thats excatly what overboring is going to do

  • @otmq Have you considered that same air what escapes around the ball, actually gives the ball the spin?

  • @Zorobeast in a paintball gun or a real gun?

  • what about the tiberius rounds in a hammerhead and getting the fins in the riffleing

  • an excellent point

  • another good vid thanks again

  • Yes, I've also talked to the employees at Hammerhead a while back, and they were totally dismissive of my queries about their lack of science and the effects they claim their barrel to have. Nor did they respond to the notion that spinning a spherical low speed projectile could not have very "significant" effects.

  • hey cockerpuk,

have you ever tried to combine the FS round AND the hammerhead barrel??

would that significantly increase the of the round???

    please do a vid

  • i like this guys thinking, but i wounder if they are made to rifle in the same spinning direction?.

  • when are your t9 and first srike rounds being produced punkworks ?????

  • the t9 marker and first strike rounds are produced by tiberius arms not punkworks

  • i just don't think spin on a pintball you'd really get you better accuracy...if you did manage to get it to spin to any major degree i could just see it hurting your accuracy

but without it gaining that ammount of spin it probably doen nothing, just like you said

  • If punkworks has taught me anything, it's that basically all "good" aftermarket barrels shoot the same.

    =D

  • yes if the have the same charistices. ex: both are 14 inch .689 and have excatly the same or similar porting

  • That's what I meant... =)

  • great vid

  • what were you up to? you had your pants off and were at your computer!!!! lol.

    nice vid

  • great video

going all the way back to my old armson barrels back in 1990, never saw much of a difference with rifled barrels

They always seem to do more harm than good, attempting to "spin" the ball

    Great video, and great job!

  • hey, you responded, that's kinda cool

  • More or less what we expected.

I also believe that due to the shape, even if you could get decent axial spin on a paintball it's not going to improve your accuracy much if at all.

  • cool
