The first words that come to my mind are "what the fuck could this be?" the chances of me seeing this film are slim, however I will do research on the meaning of what at first glance appears to be a film that caters to a very niche audience. A film that screams out I need recommendations, and little known awards!

Honestly, I don't like the premise of this movie. Too many things similar to this arising recently: 1. Human Caterpillar is about experimenting on unwilling captives. 2. Apparently parents in India are paying plastic surgeons to turn their female children into male children which are more valued in that society. So Almodevar making this movie only helps to push such barbaric acts towards the realms of being socially acceptable. This movie is cheap exploitation.

Now, no thanks to your post, I know what the twist is. Apparently you're unaware that many people actually *enjoy* the surprise that comes with not knowing much about a film, and especially not knowing anything about it's twists, before watching it. How about making courteous use of the phrase "* SPOILER WARNING *" in future?

@12345678982834 Actually, it is both, yes, he is trying to make skin that can withstand fire, because his wife was burned, which led to her suicide. But then his daughter is raped, which leads to her suicide, and so to take revenge on the rapist, he kidnaps him and turns him into a replica of the wife that committed suicide. All of you who say this ruins it for you, it shouldn't, the film is a f*cking masterpiece, you should see it.

antonio bandera's wife got into a car crash and was burnt. when she got out of the car and saw what she looked like (fucked up) she killed herself. their daughter saw the whole thing and went crazy. due to the accident, banderas tries to make inflammable skin. a guy tried to rape the daughter but failed. the daughter commits suicide soon after. antonio gets pissed and kidnaps the fucker, performing a sex change surgery to make him an exact replica of antonio's wife.
