I don't think that American Idol is strictly a singing competition, if not we might as well call it American Singer. While Blake obviously isn't the best vocally, he's got such exceptional talent and creativity at giving his own take on songs that none of the other contestants have. What a brilliant entertainer, a star in the making!

Blake shouldn't beatbox? That's like telling Snoop Dogg to stop saying "Bow Wow Wow Yippo Yippa" in his raps. Thats like telling Mariah Carey to stop hitting her high octaves in her songs. Now that its down to the wire he has to show why he's unique! Beatboxing is something that defines him and that everyone knows him by. Of course he's going to do it because its unique, it keeps people waiting for what he's going to do with a song, and its something that he's good at.

The judges were really harsh on Blake. I didn't think that he did that bad. He is the MOST entertaining on the show, but Jordin is my girl. I say Jordin and Blake in the finale. I mean, just because he had a bad week, doesn't mean that he is go to get voted off. Sanjaya had like a bazillion bad weeks and still was safe. That was only like Blake's first or second bad week. I went to dialidol and Blake is in blue and that he is predicted to be safe! They are pretty accurate, though. I

If he had saved the beat boxing effects for the middle of the song only I think he would have gotten a lot of praise from the judges. I still think this was a very good performance though a little too indulgent with the beat boxing. Randy is wrong though, this first song was much better than his second song.

At first i thought it was ok, but now when I watch it back I like the performance a lot more. I give him props singing a difficult song to sing with pretty much all falsetto. Of course it was not as good as last week, but Blake still rocks!!!

Actually I didn't like it when I first saw it, but I listened to it again and I LOVE IT! It really isn't that bad, and he was spot on at the second part of the song. His falsetto was good in my opinion especially when he sang the song basically in falsetto throughout the song. It was very hard to do.

I think that part of the reason he struggled is because the jaundra (or however you spell that word) they had to sing in was so stinking hard to sing! It was hard to choose a good song.... I really liked Blake though.. I thought he did great!

This song is 70% falsetta...Its a tough song unless you sing

pretty much falsetta all the time.His voice range is best is like right over middle tenor...where he can really gets some chest cavity resonance.

Unless you are like a Phillip Bailey...who had the best falsetta ever.this is very challenging. Barry 's ".Don't throw it all away on love" written by Barry sung by Andy Gibb could have been a song better suited to Blakes voice.

Blake is by far the most likely to be an actual star. The other girls are so boring-- no personality. Blake has such a command of music, from writing to guitar, piano, singing, dancing, etc. Lakisha and Jordin scarely move at all on stage.

I agree. Blake is the only one that is unique, and the only one that I am waiting for his first single to come out. Their is already a million singers out there that sound like the other 3...they don't stand out at all in my mind! Blake is awesome!

The problem with Blake is that he's basically Justin-lite, not nearly as talented or good-looking. The beat boxing is kind of "cool" but is getting old, and be honest, would you ever listen to any of his beat-boxing performances on the radio? He's all show, no substance. Melinda, however, can win Grammys and has the most potential to actually become a true musical artist.

I like Blake, I like his singing style and he has a nice voice, but I think he doesn't have to use the beat box to prove anything. We know he has talent and we know he's good at beat boxing but he's also a good singer and I just think he should only do the beat box once in a while in this competition.

he did good with what he was given. the beegees songs really aren't very good choices for american idol. his beat boxing worked for me.

It was such a dumb idea to have a BeeGee night. Ridiculous songs. Big disadvantage for Blake because all the BeeGee songs are falsetto and sound really silly now when sung by men. The girls could sing the same songs with their normal registers and so the songs did not seem so cheesy.

Actually, I didn't like this earlier tonight, but I can see some charm in it now. He definitely has trouble with transitions though from falsetto to lower range is a problem. I like that scat and scratching, but not the beatboxing so much.  Too much of it I think. Oh well, good try Blake. Like how he reaches for something unique.
