Was his leg legit broken in this spot? I heard somewhere it was but I'm not sure? I'm pretty sure it didn't legit break but If it did snap, what in the name of god was Vader doing going back for the splash three times
It's kind of weird seeing Yokozuna being a face and Mr. Fuji waving an American flag while still sporting his kimono with the Japanese flag on it. I think they should've made Vader a face instead especially prior to joining the WWF he was already a good guy in WCW before leaving.
I still remember hearing that POP sound when Vader broke 15,000(not a typo) pound Yokozuna's leg like it was yesterday. With all due respect to Yoko, that's what you get for being a fatass!
That sound effect was obviously added in afterwards, Raw was taped back then, if Vader had really broken his leg, they wouldn't have let Vader do the move again, and Yoko wouldn't have been back a month later.
@EnforcerX71 it's definitely at worst a hairline fracture like nascar driver sterling marlin had in his neck vertibrae back when he drove the coors light dodge. that leg would have flopped with a real fracture.
how does one of the most dominant forces in wwe history become a jobber by the end of his caeer he literally became a joke when in the ring its so upsetting that this amazing talent ate himself out of the game and into the grave
fuckin' fake & gay, i don't know how'd anyone believe this ! or even enjoy it ! watch UFC if you're a real bloodthirsty motherfucker <3 this shit is all staged and makes you feel gay
Yokozuna was before 1994 a two time WWE Champion, who had victories over Hogan, Bret Hart, Macho Man, Lex Luger... in 1996 he was just good enough for jobbing against every midcarder (no offense 2 Vader, who is also a huge star).
I miss when wrestlers used to be all shapes and sizes - nowadays everyone is straight out of development, 5'11'', 200lbs, pretty boys who all wrestle the same way and can't cut a promo.
i remember this shit. hear the deafening silence as Yoko starts screaming. this really helped set Vader up as a monster heel... unfortunately, they shitted on his run (thanks a lot HBK).
Bearded Yoko.. felt like a sign his laziness was getting the best of him.. that and the extra 100 or so lbs he gained before being let go. :( Poor guy was pry depressed.
5.58 the rope barely moves when vader is ment to of landed on his leg, then a second later you see vader lean against the rope and in goes right down. This is how light he landed on his leg..
Yokozuna cousins like The Rock, Rikishi, Samu, Rosey, Jamal (Umaga), Sonny Siaki, and Samoa Joe are successful in the wrestling business among Samoan wrestlers.
at 05:18 obviously Yokozuna was raising his leg on the botton rope intentionally to make Vader squash it,must be dealt about it before the match, that's what i hate about wrestling :(
Why is it that everyone is calling this a dream match when it actually happend? Is it one of those matches that didn't happen at the right time or something?
i don't know if it's sad with Vader...he could have asked for his release, and made money in Japan and other places. he chose to stay and get de pushed.
Imagine if these guys had formed a team. They would have been unstoppable. If they did a top rope maneuve a la Big Show and Brock Lesnar, the ring wouldn't have been able to take it!
loved yoko was i was a 9 year old kid. although by todays standards he would be panned, but i loved him and vader. thought they were boss. vader should have been given a run with the belt. look everywhere else he went. major name in wrestling and for the wwf pricks who think that he's nothing coz he never got over there, in particular mcmahon,
This was actually Yoko's downfall. He admited after being carried out on a forklift he fell into deep depression and started to use drugs and shit. It's a shame, had he been able to get his weight under control he could still be wrestling today. Other stars were released or sent down for weight issues I.E Big Show and Henry and look at them now.
@oldack Generally I always suspect weights are exxagerated by about 50 pounds. With the biggest guys, maybe more. Haystacks Calhoun was billed at about 600 and it is guessed he varied from 450-500. Benny McGuire was billed at 750 pounds and it turned out to be for real, verified in Guinness. Of course he could barely move. Akebono in his sumo days was 500 for real and Yoko looks at least as big. I seriously believe he broke 500 pounds.
@banzaiDrops641 I agree with you fully. it was in part because of him weighing so much and not being able to loose the weight as fast as Mcman wanted him to that eventually forced him out of the wwe, when i was Mcman in the first place who told yoko already well over 400lbs to gain more bcuz he wasn't "big" enough. Mcman may be one of the worlds best wrestiling promotors but he has hurt so many careers in the process and doesn't seem to have any guilt about it! RIP Yoko u are missed!
@mrivera139 I'd heard the State Athletic Commission made some new rules regarding health and physical condition of athletes. It cost Yoko his job and later Rikishi too. That sucks because their weight was their gimmick and why they were hired to begin with. Worst part is that Yoko tried to comply, lost 100 pounds but it wasn't enough. I've always been overweight (okay, fat). Not Yoko fat but still. Never let it stop me from doing martial arts and Yoko was da man.
"After his WWF career ended, he performed for various independent promotions. The last major appearance for Yokozuna was at October 1999's Heroes of Wrestling pay-per-view, where he looked enormously overweight compared to his WWF days. At an estimated 760 pounds, he had not only gained the weight that he had lost but admitted he was intentionally getting bigger with a goal weight between 850 and 900 pounds."
if that injury wasnt real than yoko just did the greatest injury sell of all time. those screams were awful to listen to, even vader was like "oh shit" after doing the first vader bomb haha
Mr. Perfect was indicating how Fuji was waving the American flag. Ironically, both Fuji and Yokozuna were of American-owned descent, even though they were billed as Japanese.
@deanduke27 Yeah its a waste of talent to use big men like this as jobbers but it seems to happen to WW(F)E guys often. Yoko gets a few squash matches in 1996 but never a win over a bigger name.
@BanzaiDrop641 Actually he beat Hulk Hogan for the belt at KotR 93. Wasn't clean but I would definitely classify that as a win over a bigger name. Using big guys as jobbers is fine, especially if they can't wrestle very well anywhere, as is the case here with Yoko. Viscera has been a jobber for most of his career and I wouldn't call that a waste.
@BanzaiDrop641 Yeah, that was stupid. I know he had weight problems in 1996 but they shouldn't have jobbed him out like that! They even had him lose to Owen Hart in the qualifying round of the 1996 King of the Ring. When I saw the brackets, I thought to myself "Yokozuna could win King of the Ring or at least help put over the next up and coming guy. Naturally, I was pissed when he lost to Owen Hart just because he tripped up on the ropes while trying to do a banzai drop.
@deanduke27 that seems to be the path for most people in WWE these days, espically the big men. Vladiam Kosloff was suppose to be an unstoppable wrestler but now he is not even a mid-carder. Wouldn't surprise me if Shamus and Big Show don't eventually go down that same path sadly cause of Vince.
@deanduke27 but at least Zune wasent put in a fued with KANE,granted it was int he attitude era,but it did NOTHING for Vader's career & remaining run in WWE.
@deanduke27 Yeah, ironic, isn't it? Still, Yokozuna at least got to hold the world title a while before being made into merely an obstacle for up and coming wrestlers to overcome.....
i would love to see vader do this to cena just to ee the little kids cry lol every time a wrestler gets hurt like that there i always a dumb ass bitch who thanks he is hurt for real with her hand over her mouth like omg
@77YankeesFan77 44 is a young age to die but yeah, All that weight should broken his body, It's not good to be that big not even for someone like Yokozuna, I think he would have been very tired after a match in wwf
@DefLeppardVanHalen Yoko died of fluid in the lungs although the rumor at the time was a heart attack which was a natural assumption for people to make, considering his weight.
A lot of people like how Vader wrestled and how he was hardcore, however that cost him in the past. When Paul Orndorf's nephew was trying to get into it Vader wrestled him and Paul Orndorf did not like the way Vader wrestled his nephew. So orndorf whooped his ass backstage. I had to tell that because i fucking hate vader.
Dude I remember watching this the same day it was broadcasted. It's funny how this clip looks like these days on youtube , but it didn't seem all that funny looking back in 96'. I miss the 90's....
@wibassplayer If Yokozuna is really only 350-400 lbs, then how much does his opponent, Vader, weigh? Yokozuna gained a lot of weight from his original day view, where he was still about a hundred lbs heavier than Vader in this present video.
@wibassplayer There is no way Yokozuna was 350-400lbs. Vader is 6'4 and around 350-370 range. Mark Henry is 6'4 and is a legit 380lbs, and Vader is close to Henry size wise. That being said, Yokozuna is also 6'4 and would have to be well into the 500-600 range judging from the size of his lower and upper body.
@holypoop88 Yokozuna was 535lbs and 6'1'' when he died, mark Henry is not 6'4'' he is less than 6'2'' he was 405lbs when he was at the Olympics, thats the heaviest weightlifter at an Olympic games ever and Vader is 6'3''
@wibassplayer If you think that's a 350-400 lb man you are on drugs LOL his legs are probably over 300 on their own, he was a HUGE man. You are right a lot of things are inflated in wrestling, Andre wasn't really 7 feet tall nor is hogan really 6'8 but Yoko was well over 500 and at times over 600 lbs.
The feud took a painful turn a couple weeks later, when Vader jumped on Yokozuna's leg, supposedly breaking it. A forklift had to come down to ringside to lift Yokozuna out, showing how his weight had gotten out of control. He took some time off to slim down.
love the camera view at 0:16 to make this rinky dink arena look big......and this was months before wwf ruined vader, he had tons of heat here, shawn michaels single handidly ruined vader's career, he was a true monster heel......well hbk ruined his wwf career, hogan in 5 seconds ruined a solid 4 year top heel in the buisness run
Well, I'm no friend of Yokozuna, but here I felt sorry for the poor guy. In fact, I don't know what's worse: That Vader was too stupid to tell the difference between show and serious injury, or all you faggot-assholes here who keep calling Yokozuna a sucker only because he couldn't fight with a broken leg!!! >:(
@larsblom Yeah, his leg was broken...and Vader didn't know...and nobody was telling him when he attacked him backstage...true story...God you are talking rubbish!
Vader was never pushed because he broke necks and legs in every one of his matches. He couldn't work. He was an entertaining wrestler only because his physical abusiveness and sociopathy are quite REAL. The man could never handle the responsibility of being a premiere wrestler. If you owned the WWF, would you let Vader wrestler your top talent, and put your ten million dollar talent in risk of career ending injuries (like the one here)
Haha, I remember seeing this on TV when it happened. I always thought it was funny as hell how Yokozuna threw a piece of trash at the camera at the end there!
This was the opening match of Raw, 1-week after the DISGUSTINGLY gross ending the week before, with Mankind applying his mandible claw on Undertaker and making him vomit prefusely
I wonder if we took Goldberg, or Brock Lesner, or Bobby Lashely, some of the strongest men that we have today and put them against either one of these people............i don't even want to think about what would happen.
Why doesn't Fuji just clock Cornette and get him out of the way? Fuji used to be an actual wrestler.

Rest In Peace: YOKOZUNA 1966-2000
He was 580 lbs. when he passed on.
77YankeesFan77 1 year ago
@77YankeesFan77 44 is a young age to die but yeah, All that weight should broken his body, It's not good to be that big not even for someone like Yokozuna, I think he would have been very tired after a match in wwf
Reborn1561 10 months ago
@Reborn1561 Actually, Yoko died at 34.
DefLeppardVanHalen 10 months ago
@DefLeppardVanHalen Yeah i know i saw it to late i miss calculated it, I'm sorry, But that's even younger tobad, On what did he die actually ?
Reborn1561 10 months ago
@Reborn1561 I believe it was heart failure.
DefLeppardVanHalen 10 months ago
@DefLeppardVanHalen Because of his weight ? Or something ells had to with it ?
Reborn1561 10 months ago
@Reborn1561 The weight played a part in it.
DefLeppardVanHalen 10 months ago
@DefLeppardVanHalen Ah to bad
Reborn1561 10 months ago
@DefLeppardVanHalen Yoko died of fluid in the lungs although the rumor at the time was a heart attack which was a natural assumption for people to make, considering his weight.
TheBronzeSkull 9 months ago
A lot of people like how Vader wrestled and how he was hardcore, however that cost him in the past. When Paul Orndorf's nephew was trying to get into it Vader wrestled him and Paul Orndorf did not like the way Vader wrestled his nephew. So orndorf whooped his ass backstage. I had to tell that because i fucking hate vader.

Dude I remember watching this the same day it was broadcasted. It's funny how this clip looks like these days on youtube , but it didn't seem all that funny looking back in 96'. I miss the 90's....

HOLY SHIT, for a big guy yoko is really entertaining to watch. unlike the great kali and the others huge idiots. THE ROCK BOTTOM! haha
goten2oooo 1 year ago
700 pounds is probably quite a stretch. Yoko was probably a legit 350-400 pounds (remember that wrestling weights are grossly inflated).
wibassplayer 1 year ago
@wibassplayer Weights are grossly inflated but for Yoko he was really over 600 lbs at a time.
BanzaiDrop641 1 year ago 8
@BanzaiDrop641 HE DIED AT 580lbs

@wibassplayer
Says he was 580lb at the time of his death.
ballebanan 1 year ago
@wibassplayer If Yokozuna is really only 350-400 lbs, then how much does his opponent, Vader, weigh? Yokozuna gained a lot of weight from his original day view, where he was still about a hundred lbs heavier than Vader in this present video.
clintjordan 1 year ago
@clintjordan dude i would say vader is 350 and yoko is 450 maybe 5 imo
MrJerryscool 1 year ago
@MrJerryscool Vader is closer to 400 and Yoko is 500+, not 600 though
SR4LosersIsMYBITCH 1 year ago
@wibassplayer There is no way Yokozuna was 350-400lbs. Vader is 6'4 and around 350-370 range. Mark Henry is 6'4 and is a legit 380lbs, and Vader is close to Henry size wise. That being said, Yokozuna is also 6'4 and would have to be well into the 500-600 range judging from the size of his lower and upper body.
holypoop88 1 year ago
@holypoop88 Yokozuna was 535lbs and 6'1'' when he died, mark Henry is not 6'4'' he is less than 6'2'' he was 405lbs when he was at the Olympics, thats the heaviest weightlifter at an Olympic games ever and Vader is 6'3''
cypionate011 1 year ago
@wibassplayer If you think that's a 350-400 lb man you are on drugs LOL his legs are probably over 300 on their own, he was a HUGE man. You are right a lot of things are inflated in wrestling, Andre wasn't really 7 feet tall nor is hogan really 6'8 but Yoko was well over 500 and at times over 600 lbs.
clojap 1 year ago
@wibassplayer yeah you are a retard if you really think yoko only weighed 350 lbs!!
kakashi76767 9 months ago
@wibassplayer dude, Yoko was a legit 550+ pounds during his WWE run. And vader was a legit 400.
SuperSonicHot 9 months ago
The feud took a painful turn a couple weeks later, when Vader jumped on Yokozuna's leg, supposedly breaking it. A forklift had to come down to ringside to lift Yokozuna out, showing how his weight had gotten out of control. He took some time off to slim down.
ImFluffy13 1 year ago
love the camera view at 0:16 to make this rinky dink arena look big......and this was months before wwf ruined vader, he had tons of heat here, shawn michaels single handidly ruined vader's career, he was a true monster heel......well hbk ruined his wwf career, hogan in 5 seconds ruined a solid 4 year top heel in the buisness run

larsblom 1 year ago
@larsblom Yeah, his leg was broken...and Vader didn't know...and nobody was telling him when he attacked him backstage...true story...God you are talking rubbish!
ThemeIshere 1 year ago
Vader was never pushed because he broke necks and legs in every one of his matches. He couldn't work. He was an entertaining wrestler only because his physical abusiveness and sociopathy are quite REAL. The man could never handle the responsibility of being a premiere wrestler. If you owned the WWF, would you let Vader wrestler your top talent, and put your ten million dollar talent in risk of career ending injuries (like the one here)
