  • jeez he still got 6 assists, here's another example of why Kobe is pure padding scoring for ego, MJ didn't need to score 100 to be considered the greatest the rest of his intangible qualities give him the credit, Kobe NEEDS to somehow score 100 and that will be his only claim to be mentioned.

  • mj would score 50 at 50 years of age

  • Ive heard some say MJ wouldnt be as good in today's era.

    He'd be even better.

  • Only thing kob is better than jordan by a slight slight margin is 3 point percentage. Everything else scrap it, its jordans. This equals Jordan the best ever. I got to watch him every night here in chicago and its just no contest folks.

  • Kwame's greatest moment in the NBA 4:50

  • I like card analogies better...

    MJ: Ace

    Kobe:King

    Lebron: Q or J

  • @phraedusthamusicdigr lebron....joker :P

  • I'm surprised at a few nice Kwame Brown highlights in this one, a dunk and a block.

  • MJ was like "Ah, I almost forgot, these kids can't handcheck me. Somebody's in trouble tonight."

  • @gmn545 wasn't handchecking taken out in 2004-05? so this is a year before and still allowed, makes it even more impressive

  • @JXL21 Nope. 2000-01.

  • @gmn545 2000-01 NBA rule [change]:

    • No contact with either hands or forearms by defenders except in the frontcourt below the free throw line extended in which case the defender may use his forearm only.

    • Defender may not use his forearm, shoulder, hip or hand to reroute or hold-up an offensive player going from point A to Point B or one who is attempting to come around a legal screen set by another offensive player.

  • MJ emphasis on the "J"

  • this juts shows how much harder old school basketball was

at 40 years old, he scores MORE points in games these days than he did during his prime against REAL basketball players... t

hese days, someone touches you and it's a flagrant.

  • love how you edit your videos :) better to watch and more entertaining. Looking forward for more.

  • LOL at 6:30 when the broadcaster says "44 points that would be his season and career high as a Wizard".

That is totally BS because MJ scored in the previous season 2001/2002 as a Wizard

    51 points against the Hornets!

  • this type of stuff almost brings a tear to my eye. Im an 80s baby, so i was fortunate to see the best of the NBA in the late 80s and all of the 90s. Jordan coming back to the Wizards proves that in that decade (90s) was the best basketball played by the best players. Dont fuck with the 90s.

  • I enjoy watching MJ at 40 years old than 'King' LeBrick in his prime!

  • I think that Mj is basketball's hero

  • On t he nights MJ felt good and wasn't hurting, he was great. If memory serves me right he averaged about 25 a game before hurting his knee.

  • Watch the initial fake before MJ's back cut at 3:32. Beautiful.

  • I've never seen him missing a free shot.. >_<

  • He had one of everything a steal, block, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 45 points at 39 that's amazing, and great sportsmanship.

  • I'm sure the Lakers would have loved to have 40 year old Mike vs the Mavs instead of Kobe lol.

  • at 1:38 to 1:42 so quick at this age . .,damn

  • damn that move at 1:39 smh greatness

  • even at 60 Mj can make KB weep

  • Comment removed

  • MJ: God

    Kobe: King

    Lebron: Some homeless guy...

  • @kingmamba248 LOL

  • @kingmamba248 NICE HAHA

  • @kingmamba248 lebron is a great player....

  • @kingmamba248 ok, be a kobe fan, but you have no right to rip on lebron, im not a lebron fan but i can tell hes a better, more athletic player than kobe.. you can argue with me, but you cant change it

  • @kingmamba248 i'm surprised the homeless guy isn't you. lebrons making millions for a "homeless guy".

  • @kingmamba248 more like lebrons the king now

  • @kingmamba248 Lol!!!

  • @kingmamba248 LOL yeah,

While Lebron had a better career impact in his rookie years than Kobe, Kobe matured much and proved

that he can also win championships without Shaq.

Kobe and MJ's moves are very elegant and nice to watch, Lebron's dunks are nothing special.

  • if lebron is called the king by some(not by me) mj should be called the GOD

  • @IamJohnyD yah your correct..lebron a king? if there's a king now maybe its kobe..but you're right..if those palyers were called king by some so MJ is God of basketball

  • Age 40 and still the "go to guy" late in the game. On a team full of youngstas in a league full of youngstas....never before and probably never again. Just plain insane. I don't know what else to say.

  • Man his fadeaway was a thing of beauty.

  • @horaiyo I KNOW!

  • I can watch him play all day long.

  • that shot at 4:30 made me shit my pants

  • jordan's basketball IQ is magnificent, i could not compare more

  • Guarantee you that Kobe or Lebron at 40 won't even come CLOSE to doing this.

  • @laepnud Kobe will out of all 3 players he has the best mid-range game fact the kobe jumper/fadeaway will preserve his career 5 more years!

  • @fatpatlives1998 look at kobe now he's alrighty getting worn out there's no way he will make it to 40 and be the one who puts a team on his back. kobe is a competitor but not nearly the same as mj who had everything in a basketball player.

  • @laepnud Kobe is already slowing down.

  • Those signs mj keeps giving when he hits tough shots are starting to scare me.

  • Based on this footage, had he stayed with the Bulls, he might have had another six champsionships...he retired much too early the first time..he was only 34 - had he just continued on, he would have performed at a high level and probably won more titles and MVP's. Oh well...he proved that even when he wasn't "air Jordan" he was still one of the great players in the NBA at that time.

  • I hate when people say that MJ hurt his legacy by coming back with the Wizards. In my eyes, he cemented his greatness forever. A 40 year old guy almost led maybe the worst roster in NBA history to the playoffs two years in a row. They were in the thick of the playoff race during both of those season. If you look at the roster, it was really ghastly. Lue, Whitney, Jahidi White, Kwame, Laettner? Come on! Hamilton wasn't what he became in Detroit. Then Stack tanked when he got there.

  • OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. YOU CANT COMPETE WITH HIS AIRNESS :D

  • nobody loved the game more than michael did.. nobody

  • btw the shot at 4:29 is not humanly possible

  • damn kwame brown. really?

  • Comment removed

  • What you see here is Jordan shooting mostly jumpers. Back in the days, Jordan used to drive to the basket way more than he shot jumpers. If Jordan was hitting jumpers like this in his prime as a Bull, he would've averaged 40 ppg every year.

  • you can't say enough about Michael. There will never be a player so dominant again..perhaps someone, someday will prove me wrong, but until then that is what I believe

  • Jordan.

  • Jordan rocks!

  • i dont think jordan came back to win another ring..because if he did he wouldnt choose the wizard he would gone to a better team. who would say no to mj if he wanted to join thier team..he came back to see if he can sitll compete with todays stars/.. and he proved he can

  • @Taywarit13 Agree, critics claimed that MJ wouldn't be able to due what he did in the 90's to today's stars. MJ always likes to prove critics wrong. In 1989-90 critics stated that MJ "cannot make his teammates better," MJ moved to PG that season and put up numbers that even Lebron can only dream of (32.5 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 8.0 APG). MJ claim very close to averaging a triple double in one whole season.

  • he was unstoppable even at the age of fuckin 40 lol

  • @MrJackDaniels82 and those guys he put 40 on r all 20 or 30 and he still kick thier ass. these days player got nothing on jordan...if he can do it at 40 imagine if he was 20..lebron and kobe and d wade r all lucky jordan is old...niether would win mvp

  • now i dont think anyone can beat this guy in basketball even lebron or kobe.

  • He still had that fadeaway j even at 39....if he was 10 years younger in 2003, he would absolutely dominate.

  • @dcm221985

no doubt. im tired of these Kobe lovers denying the truth. MJ averaged over 30 points/game during his career playing in a much better defensive era. No doubt MJ averages AT THE VERY LEAST 5 points/game more if he was 15-20 years younger and playing now!!

  • This may be an awkward thing to say on an MJ video, but Kwame Brown was such a waste of athleticism lol.

  • It's Michael Jordan's game!!!

  • Wow Kwame...OMG! Can't believe he played that good before.=p

  • wow dude, I didnt watch basketball much at the time. Didnt know he did that good when he came back. Thanks for the video.

  • woah...can you believe...that man is 40 years old and still doing that kind of crazy stunts...hahaha...

  • legend!!! all time greats

  • man can you believe this guy is turning 40?

  • @clearwind hes the greatest of all time no doubt.... too bad he said hes playing days are over since hes 47 now

  • @clearwind No :)

  • Those were great highlights man. Do you have this whole game?

  • The man is still flying.

  • The only bad thing jordan has is that hes human so he gets old.

But his undestanding of the game at 40 is godlike. Every year had more Basketball IQ so he was impossible to stop even with a weak body.

  • Kwame Brown puttin' in work.

  • I agree that his ability to escape the defender and also using the screen was always there. But to say his post up foot work was the same in mid 80's to 90's would not be accurate IMO. he didn't need to use the post nearly as much early in his career. Plus the post also worked and enhanced the triangle offense because of how the ball moved more instead of him just blowing by the defender. His post game did start to become more prevalent in 91 IMO. Coincidentally the yr they won the title

  • MJ always changed his style of play. His early career is about dunk, reverse layup, mid-range jumper. Late 80s to early 90s he built up his post offense with fade away, and he got stronger, he could still drive and dunk easily. In mid to late 90s, he used fade away as primary weapon.

No one today has his airness or reverse layup, and every wing player try to copy his style of play, MJ developed so many skills allowed new players to learn from, none of Kobe's skills didnt used by Jordan.

  • i cant even imagine what would he heve done if he would be 15 years younger on that game!

    81? Not a problem.

  • MJ still had quickness. 0:35

MJ had low stamina in 39 yrs old, if he was younger 2 yrs, he should had 50+ in this game.

By the way u said whose 81?

I guess it's Mr.Kobe who is the greatest player ever to pick a weak team and make a 50+ game record.

  • Yeah I agree, MJ's stamina wasn't there a lot of the time. In the games where he had that energy and pep in his step he was freakin incredible.

  • Hahahahahah people always try to defend kobe(nut riders) but anyway yall say he didnt play against real defense/the zone???? or his era wasnt good??? this is 2003 I think so you can basically say he killed in both eras right....exactly too many lil kids too many dummies who kno nothin about basketball get on here wit kobe baby powder off his nuts on they face and paste he is better the jordan lol it's really an insult honestly so people please kill yourself!!!

  • yep. well said. kobe homers should just commit suicide after seeing 40 yrs old GOAT highlites.

Prime time MJ will MURDER these defensive rules. ave 40-45 pts at will for entire career. fuck kobe & his 35ppg ave. thats childs play for MJ in this garbage defensive rules era.

  • I like Kobe alot, but Jordan was the man and will always be.

  • 45 points with ZERO 3s at age 39. Goodness.

  • MJ was so damn strong. You know how difficult it is to shoot a turnaround fadeaway without dribbling the ball before taking the shot? Damn.

  • TRULY AMAZING

    =D

  • maybe if he come back now, he can still kick ass to a lot of players...! He's amazing!

  • i truely believed michael could of avg 30 a game during his wizards years but chose to not push himself he was that good. therse no freakin way kobe could do this at age 40.

  • uh this is a jordan vid, why would u bring kobe up for no reason, just stick to glorifying jordan instead of bashing other players for no reason

  • dude i can talk about whomever i want. Michael is the best period.

  • He looked better here than today's wade, lebron or kobe. He never ceases to amaze me.

  • if jordan played today and had his 20 year old legs he would put it disgusting numbers and score off the chart..jordan just wanted to show he could come back as an old man and still play better then 90% of the players in the league..THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER MICHAEL JORDAN..TRUST..GOAT

  • the fundamentalies!!!!!

he rised the game on another level!!!!

    GOAT!!

  • Still Greatest!

  • Yea forgot about Sam Jones. Pippen did use the glass well to come to think of it. He used it for pretty long range jumpers.

  • only palyer who may have used the glass better was Bird(MAYBE). Fundamentally..MJ's foot work was the best IMO with Hakeem #2 and Mchale #3. Pretty crazy to say that considering he was a guard and only starting perfecting the post moves after his 1st comeback. Those big guys had a life time to get it right..MJ..just a couple of years LOL. That went a long way in prolonging his career further as you can see hear. Very little energy used to fake you out of your shoes and get and easy hoop. GOAT

  • There were a lot of players that used the glass as well as, if not better than Jordan.., George Gervin, Elvin Hayes, Sam Jones, even Scottie Pippen, to name a few.

  • dont kno about any of those guys u mentioned (im 22 yrs old), but i do kno scottie pippen used the glass well...better ythan anybody ive seen...another honerable mention would be tim duncan

  • mj's footwork is not just about around the post. the way he gets the pass around the arc and switch the pivot leg at the second he receives the ball has been something 84 mj been doing. all those hop steps, quick spin moves with the dribbles were all there since his rookie days.

  • mj was just so beautiful to watch, his skills on all aspects where just amazing.the most complete player who could do anything he wanted when he ws on his game ,just the greatest there will ever be

  • keep in mind hes nearly 40 in this clip. back in the day when he was 26-27 even 32-33.... f-ing crazy

  • The fact that most of his athleticism at the time was gone its not short of amazing that he was able to still dominate at the age of 39. He truly was the most fundamentally sound player of all-time. Going glass, his pump fakes and his ability to alude defenders is what separates him from all of the other players in nba history. The way the rules in the nba are today Jordan would put up some of the greatest numbers in nba history.

  • very well said

  • TRUE. WELL SAID

  • @LeeDiddy990 "The way the rules in the nba are today Jordan would put up some of the greatest numbers in nba history."

But, Jordan has already put up the greatest numbers in NBA history and did it in a more physical era.

  • @LeeDiddy990 not like he didnt put any amazing numbers already in his own era... he'd just put up even more astronomical figures in this current era..

  • Mj played basketball in the manner in which it should be played. Make the right plays at any and all moments in the game.

He not only just outperformed his opponents but outsmarted them. Watch him just make his opponents look foolish.

  • look at mj with the semi 180 jam

  • He just loves the game.

  • hes freakin unbelievable

  • uberathlete just to remind you the 100 steal and 100 blocks he made!! your the goat

  • GOAT = Greatest Of All Time

  • This dude is an alien B. Na for real he is an alien. You aren't supposed to be schooling dudes for 40 pts while you are 40 YEARS OLD.

  • How is this physically possible ????

He is almost 40....his knees are worn down...but still he is doing this crazy stuff..... WOW !!!

  • mj own everybody on the court man

  • MICHEL JORDAN No1 besst M.V.

  • the funny thing about the jordan-kobe comparison is that people forget that the rules are different and kobe has never face a known dirty team. jordan had to go up against teams like detroit and the knicks. jordan had to work twice as hard to score. c'mon on now. kobe is a great player, but to say that he's more skilled or more athletic than jordan is just ignorance. i'll pick jordan and kobe as the two greatest 2 guards of all time. i'll put them up against any other two guards.

  • Please. Kobe is far from being one of the 2 greatest #2 guards

    Don't even give him that

just for starters dwade has always been > kobe

and Dumars always gets underrated.. the only guy that ever gave jordan fits face up

  • just for starters you autimatically lose your cred with you say dwade has always been > kobe

  • you're wrong

  • im wrong about what.... and do you care to provide any insight to your reasoning?

  • That was a 40 year old MJ.

Now imagine Air Jordan from 84-93 playing today.

    Air > MJ

    80s 90s era > Shaq, Lebron era

  • Although Shaq was very good during the 90s he flat out dominated the 2000 era.

Lebron is very similar to MJ. They are both all around players except Bron can't play a lick of defense and post up like Jordan can.

  • If Bron can't play defense, then he's not an all around player (though he's making more of an effort this season). His offensive game also needs a lot of work. He needs to work on his jumper, his post game, his usage of screens, his movement without the ball to free himself from his man, his pivot moves, his midrange game, etc. But he's a great passer. He needs a whole lot of work though cuz his offensive game consists mainly of bulling his way to the rim.

  • its crazy what sorts of shoots he takes. great player

  • still relevant at age 40 due to perfect fundamentals.

  • What did Jordan have against Jamal Mashburn?

  • What's so amazing is that the Wiz version of Jordan was soooo slow yet his fundamentals were so strong it didn't matter. It's frightening to imagine what the '88 version of MJ would do if he played today...20 FTAs a game?

  • amen.. he can dominate in this era even if hes old... he will be remebered and ni doubt the greatest player,,, there should be no one 2 be compared to his royal airness

  • amen

  • True. People don't realize just how varied MJ's game was which made him almost impossible to stop. He was great at posting up, driving and finishing with either hand, shooting midrange jumpers, using pump fakes, using screens without running around like a mad man a la Rip Hamilton, moving without the ball to lose his man, stop and pop, fadeaway, etc. So much variety which was already there even early in his career. And we haven't even talked about his defense.

    MJ = GOAT

  • whats the meaning of GOAT?

  • Greatest Of All Time

  • "whats the meaning of GOAT?

lol,..you must be a kobe fan.

  • greatest of all time-g.o.a.t

  • Simply the best!

  • I think it was a set-up that Jordan came back 4 a third time, David Stern new about Lebron wanted the NBA to have a story before Lebron came into the league.

  • u are such a loser

  • its called love of the game

  • mj is the greatest ever! ever! players now are no match..not even close! he is the best of the best! just amazing!

  • yeah. you watch half of this video and you want Kobe to die. because he is not anywhere near as good as Jordan was in this video. and Jordan was 39.

  • where does this guy comes from?!.....

he`s a fighter that never stop!

  • simply the best!

  • Haha Kwame with the block at like 5 mins ish haha

  • simply the best

  • amazing video, bro

    MJ is the greatest

  • to bad arenas came to late when jordan was in washington

  • Imagine them two at PG & SG! Would have been so sick. Not as good as 23 & 33 mind :) But still woulda been sweet! Thanks for the post man.

  • he was 39 god deam in diz game he still was cold

  • Technically, he was a couple weeks shy of 40 when this game was played on Feb. 1, 2003. Three weeks later he would score 43 against Dallas when he was actually 40 years old, becoming the only forty year old to score 40 points.

But that doesn't change the fact that he was still awesome at that age. It really shows just how good he was.

  • men, the 43 point-game was against New Jersey, just for the record.

  • Yup, you're right, New Jersey. My bad.

I see medestinier changed the title of the video.

  • Great

  • Did he go through his legs in both directions at 1:40 or just on the first crossover? Great game; thanks for uploading this. I never made the connection that he had 51 and 45 on NO during his Wizards stint.

  • Like I said in another post: when I have to watch kobe on tv, I ONLY MISS THIS GUY AND HOW GREAT HE WAS...just 15 days before turned 40!

  • Simply the best!

  • But I thought he couldn't be successful vs taller, stronger, more athletic players? I thought the only reason he was successful is because he was a superior athlete playing against inferior athletes, in an era where if you could dunk you were a god? I thought he only relied on athleticism and not skill or court smarts? Kobe does not lie! Kobe does not lie! Kobe does not lie! KOBE DOES NOT LIE! KOBE DOES NOT LIE!

Mommy, I'm scared.. I dunno who or what to believe anymore.

  • (SARCASM ALERT)

Long live the zones! Cause we know MJ couldnt do shit agaisnt them.

    (End of sarcasm)

Unbelievable how fast he looked in this game, at 40, barely on one leg. Too bad he couldnt keep it like that every game.

    The greatest.

  • Amazing how well he was moving in this game.

  • yea I agree! he looks so fast and sharp! crazy! I couldnt beleive what I was seeing when I just watched this! he is the greatest! MJ was ready to win another two titles them two seasons he came back!

  • thanks for the rear upload. Greatest ever no doubt. MJ at 40 looks atheletically & skill wise match to Kobe at 28. that shows how much skilled MJ was.

  • haayyyy... Jordan we miss you!!!
