Joey's voice is nothing compared to what it will become and check out the last few seconds...at some point Dee Dee loses his shoulder strap for f%$k sakes. If you don't think you can do anything with some serious hard work and practice you are just fooling yourself. God bless these 4.

@wonderlin1 I wrote that when I was in a bad mood. Heavy Metal is not all bad, Zep did a few good things, Motorhead wrote a great song about the Ramones. But by and large, I think Metal took the easy way out, they became commercial and mainstream in most cases. Not a very courageous stand. The metal bands are not my cup of tea, because they don't say much profound, just put some sugar on it, honey, and dirty deeds done dirt cheap, and so what? At least Punk tries to be relevant.

@khattamshud overall, metal is the more widely accepted form of rebellion through music, thus being commercialized. If you don't believe me, watch movies from the 80's. Metal music is all over that. Watch 90's movies and tell me if you hear more punk than metal. Watch movies with rebellious kids now and tell if you hear more punk than metal. Face it dude, metal is very commercial... whether or not there's an underground scene, it's still more accepted over punk

Some of the subgenres are very extreme in both expression and appearance while the supporters watch commercially more acceptable bands with derision and as sell outs. But in general, every time a kid pics up an electric guitar and aunties get worried there's something in it :)

Bye bye Country Rock and Progressive Rock, you went belly up and died, haha! Fusion Jazz was cut off and died. DISCO died, the greatest triumph! The people with the worst musical taste quit rock and went to video games. Their cheesy descendants are the ones mocking the ramones now. Because the Ramones destroyed their cheesy world and I'm glad!

Seeing them at the Roxy in 1976 was like witnessing the Second Coming of Christ. The Ramones' first show in L.A. was the most exciting Rock 'n Roll moment of my life. The audience was euphoric afterwards, we knew we had witnessed a Miracle. People were laughing, cheering, crashing into walls. Such happiness. Rock was saved from Death for all time. The Ramones are looking down from heaven now with mixed feelings. They totally won the culture war. Every damned commercial on TV sounds like them now

It's so incredible that people back then said they were no good because they couldn't play their instruments! But they totally took minimalism and made something so powerful out of it, a proper "accomplished" band couldn't replicate it if they tried! Johnny Ramone is one of my favorite guitarists ever because his style was one of a kind for the time. No one else was playing like that and probally couldn't, they'd get too tired. Johnny was relentless on that thing!
