How did this turn into an argument about the merits of America?
I bet one of those sneaky goddamn flappy-headed canadians did it. LET'S SEE YOU WITHOUT YOUR MAPLE SYRUP AND HOCKEY SKATES YOU LOON WORSHIPPING HOOLIGANS.
@sivmeister don't forget that comical genius Neville Chamberlain. Ah, wait, it was you limeys who blessed the world with that masterpiece. And now you cry when others don't imitate him. I prefer Bush.
@sivmeister Actually, it would be George W Bush. Jr would imply his name is the exact same name as his father, but instead, his father's name was George Herbert Walker Bush, not George Walker Bush. He is not a Jr. Nevertheless, he is pretty funny when he's not starting pointless wars.
I hate nearly every European person bashing America just because it's feed into their culture through literature and television. It makes me feel like I should be ashamed to be called an American or Yankee. An acting like an asshole towards Americans (Because the majority ARE stupid) does not make you seam intelligent all, all it does is show how truly narrow your scope of ignorance is, and your prejudice and unwillingness to give others of a different nationality a chance.
I'm English, I agree with easy way. TV doesn't talk bad about Americans. However I've considered that in European culture it seems almost fashionable to poke fun. I know there are many Americans who are idiots and know nothing outside of even their own state. However there are many English who are exactly the same. I have many American friends who are very intelligent and worldly. However I will say this, American TV sucks :p
I didn't even need to read the comments and I understand the term pissed means drunk in the UK, probably because of that damn Chumbawumba drinking song...
This just shows the typical lack of culture amongst the general american populous. I'm american and I've known both meanings of pissed since I was 14 when I started listening to british and australian bands and reading british literature. Not all americans are stupid, just most :)
I'm British and I've known the two meanings since I was wee, we use it as 'angry' as well as in 'pissed off' so yeah, but it;s not that difficult to make the meaning out of context. Glad there're ppl like you ha ha
Since you were a wee? Haha, wee means piss. Haha, haha, I'm laughing at you for inadvertently saying something you didn't understand but an American would. Haha, your culture is so stupid for not understanding meanings we ascribe to words over here. Haha, lets all have a laugh at your culture. That you didn't know the double meaning is proof that everyone in your country is stupid and uncultured. Haha.
I do know the other meaning, we use it here as well, but 'wee' also means little is Scots English. I wasn't saying it in a mean way, would it hurt you to be a little less rude? That's not a sign of culture, you know.
You know what, you're right. I got confused and thought you were taking part in the USA bashing. Well, you kind of were, with the "good to know there are exceptions", but thats minor. I was really reversing all this USA bashing, making fun of the dolts on here who think some of us not understanding a British colloquial term is proof that we're stupid. I guess I just get sick of Americans being called stupid when refuckulate puts it best. Sorry for coming off like a dick.
It's not a lack of culture just a difference of language. We are one of the must culturally diverse places in the world, a nation of immigrants. So it's pretty stupid to say Americans are uncultured when a good amount of the citizens are from other countries. You shouldn't make stereotypes, just makes you look like the ignorant one.
yeah in shaun of the dead when they see the first woman zombie, they say "Oh my god, shes so drunk" when it was originally "Oh my god, shes so pissed" so they dont confuse us americans :P

1. He apologises for MAYBE making a 'bit of a mess' last night ... he was 'a bit pissed' (Drunk, not angry UK vs USA)
2. He sees Suzy and realises just HOW pissed he'd actually been, and like a nice English gentleman apologises. LOL
