  • WHY is your lipstick so ugly?? But anyway, I wish this documentary focused on the personal growth of dark skinned women and not just the pain.. I'm brown skinned, but it's pretty close to being dark skinned. Most people say I'm "borderline." I'm pretty and people tell me all the time, but there's always that one person .. . that one person who says "you're cute as shit ... FOR A DARK GIRL." And then I feel ugly ...

  • OK WHOAAA! WHEN I HEARD THE TUPAC LINE...I HAD TO STOP THE VIDEO.SMH.

  • Soooooooooooooooo GAY.

  • Can I buy this DVD anywhere?

  • People tend to find certain physical traits to be attractive. Get over it. Men tend to prefer long hair, slender build, and a particular hip-to-waist ratio in women. Get over it. Women prefer guys who still have their hair and are tall. Get over it. And yes, people typically prefer a lighter skin tone. Again, GET OVER IT! Did you honestly believe preferences in physical traits would arbitrarily exclude skin tone?! You're not being rational.

BTW, don't be so dramatic in your vids. It's cheesy.

  • @austinguy23 the preferring lighter skin tone is due to colonialism/racism. You see the skin tone issues alot in Southeast Asia as well as South America. You clearly need to be educated about colorism in society.

  • @austinguy23 But general society only prefers lighter skin because we live in a world where European/Western ideals have dominated the planet for centuries. Europe has colonised and ruled Africa, Asia, and the Middle East in the past, which has in turn caused Africans, East Asians, Middle Easterners, and South Asians to adopt the 'whiter is better' mentality, even though scientifically speaking, dark African skin is the most superior of all skin types because of its extremely low aging rate. :D

  • Im sorry I cant even focus because of that lipstick. omg i have to leave goodbye

  • Let me say this, the end of this video WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I can't lie and say that I have never gone through the persecution of being a dark-skinned woman in America. And sometimes Satan still tries to torment me with this device, but as a born-again Christian I understand what all of this means. God created us all with BEAUTY in mind, satan destroys us with his devices. This whole light-skinned/ dark-skinned thing is a distraction from the enemy. I LOVE this video, it confirmed this.

  • Silver lipstick! No

  • Your mom was a self hatred mammy lunatic!

  • is this supposed to be entertainment? that's what it's categorized as. And uh...not very funny to me...

  • iam a dark skin women an, i was teased alot as a child an i didnt come to appreciate this skin until i was 16, an i didn't notice i was beautiful until i was 21. I know for a fact this movie will not change a deep rooted issue, it will only make dark women seem more inferior it will be a pity party, dark sisters once u notice ur beauty, and exude that beauty it will be undeniable, everyone will notice. even if u are not some people preface, they will notice ur beauty

  • Re: her mother's insults & she herself was a darkskin woman, it's been my experience that it's always the blackest ace of spade that loves white folks the most........sick & quite sad.

  • For healthy self-esteem, we all need to accept ourselves for who we are. Consider WHY she feels the way she feels. How deeply rooted is it in racism and self-hatred? 1.) Paula starts off by saying how she heard her mother make a dark-skin color remark whenever she wanted to insult someone. Then Paula asks the question, "Why did my mom hate herself?" I think internally Paula asks herself, "What if I had been dark like my mother?" Then she says to the camera, "I'm so glad I came out light."

  • Paula says she knows it's wrong, but dark-skinned blacks have more hardship and are not seen as beautiful, and who would not want to be the opposite of that? But what made me pissed off was when she started talking about God and being saved... It sounded like something straight out of a negro spiritual... a slave mentality -> I should be able to move beyond my skin color only after I die and go to heaven. My question: Why can't she feel that here on earth? I think she needs counseling.

  • #SlaveMentality101 1st of all, I think she's kinda crazy...a little bit eccentric at the least with that silver lipstick! When asked if she would rather be 'fat and light-skinned' or 'dark and thin' she says she chose 'fat and light'. When asked if she would rather be 'dark-skinned and saved' or 'light skinned and a non-believer' she said, 'dark-skinnned and saved'...she says the faith of God supercedes all that and it would have to be worth it in the end.... She needs counseling :-(

  • I am very happy that this documentary is coming out. At least it is shedding light on a problem that I think is about to explode because dark skinned women are simply tired of not having their beauty appreciated and having to be in pain in silence for fear of being called haters and jeolous. Good let it all hang out in the open!

  • @icecreamladydream I dread this doc. It will only make darkskin women have "a pity party bitchfest". If they would just stop watching trashy rap video's that would help a lot. If people r colorstruck this doc will not change their opinions, so why bother? Everyone has been made a mockery of at some point of their lives for 1 reason or another, but the strong have learned to overcome negativity.

  • @Just2Intense I understand your point but I think the documentary might just change some hearts and minds for the better. I think it might make it ok for dark skinned women to speak freely about this issue without people saying were are just complaining and hating. The documentary appears to be a very intelligent piece!

  • @icecreamladydream Wishful thinking babe, all it will do is make darkskin women have a bigger than life chip on their shoulders, be even more angry, & those who are colorstruck will still continue to be in the same mindset becuase it's been instilled in them. Most AA's are not colorstruck & those who are, are usually under age 30, since over 30 most people have way more important things to focus on in life, & color isn't 1 of them.

  • Thank you for your courage, depth and honesty.

  • As a strong DARK skin man I needed knowledge that was strong enough to help me deal with a color conscious world that didn't look at my dark skin favorably,I found that strength (see Malachi Z York Paleman & the bible on YOUTUBE) they showed images of Black biblical figures and helped me to believe that Africa was the BEST part of the earth but we will never see the BEAUTY of the continent or the people because we are living under the devils rule! And worshiping the image of the beast!!

  • The problem with the movie "Dark Girls" is that it only focus was on the pain that these grown woman experienced as children and haven't gotten over, what the movie should have shown was how these woman can rise by showing proud, confident, strong dark skin woman that love themselves & are taking pictures of themselves all the time and just seeing the love they have for themselves. My daughter isn't going to see them on the disney channel or movie screen so if not in movies like this when!

  • @jeromemilton wow...I really want to see the

movie but I thought they were gonna show like

a phoenix part at the end or something..I feel them

and I respect their experiences because I too as a

darker sistah have experienced them but I want to see

some positivity in it...where did u get to view it..I really want

    to see it badly

  • @jeromemilton The movie hasn't even came out yet, you don't know what the rest of the movie is about. Why don't you watch the movie first and then say something like that. It first has to expose a problem with how things are before it can start the healing process.

  • @heavensigh SO RIGHT. I've seen the whole movie & it's THE OPPOSITE of what some of these comments have presumed. The trailer does not give away the whole documentary, it just gives you enough to peak your interest.

  • @225supreme Hey where can I get this movie from???? Me and my cousin needs to watch this!!!!

  • @bajanboy883 if U mean "Dark Girls", ur guess is as good as mine. If by chance u meant my one-woman show (IWantedtheBLACKDoll!) ... Aww, thanks, but it's a PLAY & not on DVD (YET!). My goal is to perform it LIVE around the nation; ULTIMATELY it will b on dvd. If your school/organization/church would like to book it, tell them holla at me!! (btw, @Paulanealmooney, though some may disagree, your TRUTH is as just as valid as anyone else's & I personally appreciated your realness!)

  • @jeromemilton Wow I never thought about it like that. I was just introduced to this on Thursday. I knew it all existed. However what I personally find ironic is that as a mixed woman I always wanted to be 100% black. Always tried to get darker when I was growing up! Lol. I felt like I was missing that deep family roots.

  • so truthful love this

  • In the Bible code Book called Aimed At America, it was shown that Adam was made from mud (blackness) but his woman was made from his rib (whiteness). And dark skinned women have simply been trying to look like original woman and they hate having hair like original man.

See the Aimed At America 2 video on youtube for an example of how the codes manifest in parallels.

  • Yeah, it was fun to make. Thank God for creativity and the ability to express it!

  • Wow so deep
