It seems that you have your information wrong re. 'Violet'. The running time is not 30 seconds but 1.30 seconds.

I would say that compared to 'Paralysed', 'Violet' was virtually unknown to the mass music market. I still say that 'Paralysed' was the shortest of the most popular and well known songs from Elvis.

Shorter ones may be in existence but not in the 'popular' or 'major hits' category that I was referring to.

  • God bless Otis Blackwell.....What a great song!

  • Apologies,

The shortest song recorded by Elvis is 'Let's Have A Party' that lasted a mere 1 min and 27 seconds.

  • @yunorisson What about Santa lucia ???

  • @yunorisson The Elvis song Violet is only about 30s long, there are others.

  • There is a song Rlvis sings in the movie--The Trouble with Girls -the song is ALMOST--- it is 1:53---a very pretty song..

  • I love this song..

  • I may be wrong, but I think this may be the shortest song that Elvis recorded?

  • I love finding new songs that elvis sang.

  • Such an underrated tune by the King. Great collection of picks of Elvis. Thanks Jackie, for this wonderful upload.

  • i love this song sung by the king. brilliant.

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP 1950's gay means happy not the same meaning as now, just like queer meant weird/strange so don't use todays meanings when listening to the lyrics

  • This is the sound of Elvis which made him a legend. ♥

  • Jackie6, I really like how you turn out a "simple" El song by adding - not unknown or unpublished photos, but nevertheless such in a kool way - these pics in a innovative way. Kudos to you, and I really mean it. You make every El song an 'new' adventure. Have a great weekend.

  • Classic

  • great song, im really a fan of the King, though this one i never heard before but its fantastic, sounds like its no effort to him sing this song

  • Love the Oo-oo-oohs in the chorus 1:00 - Otis Blackwell (writer) and Elvis Presley (singer) was a winning combination. This is Elvis at his cute-slinky-sexy best!!!

  • Try 0:59 for the Oo-oo-ooh :)

  • this was the first elvis song i ever heard...about 40 odd years ago and still one of the best.

  • I just heard this song for the first time yesterday. I thought I heard every Elvis song there was. I liked it so much I had to try to sing it myself.

  • Written by Otis Blackwell, who wrote Dont Be Cruel and All Shook Up for Elvis. ( As well as Great Balls of Fire and Breathless for Jerry Lee Lewis)

  • lucky me I'm singing everyday i couldn't say a word cause im thinking of you all i could was stand there paralyzed

  • My Elvis all-time favourite. Thank for post it. Greetings from Spain.

  • love this song

  • Grazie a te, sto conoscendo alcune canzoni del Mitico Elvis, che non conoscevo.

Molto Bello trovare anche le parole, per chi come me non è nato di lingua inglese. (sono Italiana)

    ---

Because of you I have listened some songs, performed by the Mitical Elvis, I have never heard before.

It's a good thing to find the lyrics, for those, like me, who are not english language born (I am italian)

  • Magnífico! Muito alegre, espanta qualquer depressão. Só Elvis é capaz!

  • I love the beginning "Wheeen you looked into my eyeees"

  • Otis Blackwell don't get the credit....as he should.

No record of stevie wonder giving him the grammy

as and honerarum on the net....history is lost.

  • great song

  • First time I've ever heard this song Good!

  • One of the mans Best.

  • :) This song makes me smile!!!

  • This is song so addicting.. i cant stop playing it lol...

  • Written by Otis Blackwell for Elvis. It was recorded on September 2, 1956 at Radio Recorders. Take #12 was used by RCA. On the strength of its being on the Elvis EP, it had a 7-week stay on the Top 100 chart, peaking at #59. It reached #8 on the charts in England. It is available on Elvis, Elvis: The Other Sides-Worldwide Gold Award Hits, Vol. 2, Elvis 56, and The King of Rock n Roll: The Complete 50s Masters.

  • This is such a very tremendous, fun and underrated song. Elvis' live version of this song has still never been released. Sony/BMG does have Elvis' very last Hayride concert in its entirety and "Paralyzed" was sung by Elvis at this concert. This last ever Hayride concert for Elvis occurred in December 1956. I believe that the FTD label will be the label that finally releases this particular show. There'll never be another Elvis. I loved this video a whole lot, 10 Stars as always Jackie.

  • ElvisSacramento...how do you know Sony/BMG have the last Hayride show?

It does make sense as he did this in the Million dollar session which was at the start of Dec 56. I have never heard a studio alternate version of this but as Jackie states it was take 12 then at least 11 more exist....or an alternate of Hard Headed Woman.

  • It was reported on numerous Elvis news sites a couple of years ago that Ernst Jorgensen had just received the complete last Hayride show and that it might by released by the FTD label. FTD is the official CD label for Elvis collectors. There is a chance that this last Hayride show could be released by Sony/BMG instead. Ernst works on all of the FTD releases and most of the Elvis Sony/BMG releases. He is the key person when it comes to the Elvis CD world and he's written books on Elvis too.

  • I meant to write to that last Hayride show might be released by the FTD label. Sorry for the typo.
