In our level one class we just sign the vocabulary we learned with the lesson. In level 2 we add more words that we sign. It is too hard for new signers to sign every word.

7 months is the perfect time to start. People can start anytime but between 5-9 months is a great time to start.

that's so cute.. it's amazing to see how they learn. I'm teaching the 9 month old I take care of and she gets the sings instantly (in her own way of course). It's amazing and so rewarding.

Yes some people sign sister that way. I think that is closer to signed exact english. I mention that way in the instructional video if people watch it. There are often regional differences of signs as well!
