Being a huge Sci-Fi fan I had to watch this show and Wow! Farscape is masterpiece. The biggest strength of it is emotional/sexual chemistry between the cast. I love Crichton, Aeryn, Chiana, Zhaan, Pilot, Jool etc Sikozu was the only one annoying character. Zhaan should have been in all 4 seasons. She was the most unique character.
Farscape is one of my fav Sci-Fi shows (along with The X Files, Babylon 5, Robocop The Series, Lexx, The 4400, Torchwood, Earth: Final Conflict, TekWar, SeaQuest etc)
But, if the Peacekeepers are hearing John's words through translator microbes, what was the point of him speaking with an Australian accent to begin with? Wouldn't they just hear his words in whatever their language is anyways?
@ShadowSonic2 Accents are totally different than just the spoken language, like for example if you go to France and try to speak French most native Frenchmen are going to know your foreign in a heartbeat because of the accent just like you can tell what part of the country an American is from by the accent
Damn, i had frgotten that episode. this guy actually DARED do that in SAISON 1 ! No wonder he pratically danced on the scaran's emperor's table in the last saison ! You gotta love john crichton ! ^^
I have all the farscape comics. I love this show. This is a great scene but it is not the funniest. I think the Crackers where John has everyone tied up and is explaining Tralitixx is bad is the funniest scene ever. 2nd season.
Adding to the debate over translator microbes, although I may be wrong here and you can correct me if I am, I believe Sikozu's race is the only race in the FarScape universe that cannot tolerate the microbes, so they have to resort to the traditional way of learning languages. Unfortunately, the supply or Rosetta Stone is currently sold out in the Uncharted Territories and it seems there won't be a new shipment anytime soon.
She isn't the only race, from what I remember, the Diagnosians also couldn't handle the microbes for obvious reasons.
The microbes act as a filter for the languages spoken by any species. They translate the concepts and phonetics into a simple language that is transmitted and received simultaneously. Words that don't have a common meaning are often left untranslated, leading to many great cultural revelations.
No, but the Sebeacen's also have translator microbes. So does everyone else for that mater. How do you think everyone on Moya can understand each other, they all speak different languages.
You are right everyoine has translator microbes. However in the I E.T. episode. The one where John and Moya crew land on a Earth like planet. The planet's natives have never space traveled before. Therefore they have no translator microbes in their heads. How do they understand John? hat was a big mistake in that episode.
I remember thinking the same thing when I saw that episode. Translator microbe were introduced in the first ep. then ignored in the second ep. Oh well, most TV shows have there flaws to work thought in the first season.
This show is being done from his point of view and through his translator microbes. That is why their is no subtitles when we hear them speak. Watch the first farscape ep. John meets Dargo and Zhann and hears their alien language does not understand what they are saying nither do we the audience. Once John gets the translator microbes, him and us are able to understand the aliens.
i love chiana , i'd stick my tongue right up her little grey bum hole

@jeffhardy0963 Exactly. Accents have to do with inflection and how the word is said, as much as the actual application of the word.

Obviously Chi likes the sneaky side of John...then again as much as she tries to get into his pants she must like another part too ;)

@jeffhardy0963 Yeah, I noticed that sometimes Chi had a preoccupation with trying to bang John
