Diagnosed at age 27... thank you for trying to enlighten people... though I see that some remain ignorant.
@Wilsodano1 I am slowly falling apart at the age of 29. My symptoms are extremely pronounced for a person at my stage of teh disease. If you can honestly believe that I would be going through this by choice or as some kind of an act you are a fool.
This is an ignorant question, how do people with Parkinsons sleep? It takes hours for me to get to sleep because when I doze off a leg or an arm or my neck will spasm and wake me up, but I've been told that what I have is pretty common. How do these amazing people sleep with constant muscle spasms? How do they sleep when their body refuses to relax? I hope they get a cure soon, this seems like an amazingly cruel disease.

That's so sad...he said if they cure it, that in his "50s, I'll be dancing at my children's weddings". He's 50 now, and his symptoms have died down, but they still haven't found a cure. Don't give up Michael, we're all so proud of you and believe in you! <3

A year ago my G.P told me i had what was called an essential tremor. 2 weeks ago my consultant confirmed it as parkinson's disease. I'm not angry or resentful but i would love to see a cure before my son get's older.
Ali has made me change my mind about helping.... He was/ is the greatest a true legend, seeing what he used to be and being struck with parkinsons make me think.... It is not fair to strike him down or anyone for that matter, people need to know about this disease.

@shecrow78 The song? You must not be in tune with music! This song is 'Dream On' by Aerosmith, one of the most legendary songs and bands ever. I would suggest watching or listening to a live version though; it is much better and the voice of Steven Tyler has evolved since this was recorded.
@IDSTARTAREVOLUTION2 the person who commented is a 32 yr old who is not American so it's understandable that she might not know this song. (personally I find it horrid and depressing, sorry)
@sk8forlife90 Well, if you're being serious, you should check them out. One of the oldest bands around, they are one of the few that has managed to stay pretty relevant throughout their career. There's the 70s hits like Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion, Dream On, and Back in the Saddle. 80s hits include Dude Looks Like a Lady, Rag Doll, Love in an Elevator, and What It Takes. The 90s were big with Cryin', Crazy, Livin on the Edge, Eat the Rich, Pink, Falling In Love is Hard on the Knees.
@sk8forlife90 2000s had Jaded, Sunshine, Fly Away From Here, Baby Please Don't Go, and Devil's Got a New Disguise. And all of these that I've mentioned are only a few of the hits. :)
To all the people who makes fun of michael because he cant move still! People should start to wise up because this disease is very horrible, Michael is actually strong and brave for him to be able to controll himself and if you were in this situation how would you feel!

I know what he is going through kind of, because i was diagnosed with parkinsons disease at the hospital just after having a stroke. I would like to know more about this because all i've heard is that it only gets worse and i am scared, not for myself so much but because of what i may put my family through. And i just found out the dr.'s want to test me for als now. is that better or worse and why all of a sudden would they want to start checking me for this now?
@james32347 I am no expert, but they probably checked you for Alzheimers because of your stroke. Strokes can cause just about anything to quit functioning - sometimes a finger and sometimes the brain. I had a relative who had a stroke and although physically fine after it, she could no longer weird. It is an odd medical mystery, the stroke. They just want to see how your mind is through the stroke. Again, not positive, but there is no definite test for Alz, its just kind of a symptoms thing
@james32347 Ah, you meant ALS, not Alzheimer's. Well that makes it much more simple. Both ALS and Parkinson's are degenerative diseases that affect nerve cells in the brain. Sorry for the confusion.
If anyone knows how to contact MJ, he needs to check out Dr. Perlmutter's web site. He's a board certified neurologist who probably can restore Michael's functions with IV Glutathione treatments. Check out NEW Glutathione Parkinson's - Dr. David Perlmutter, MD on youtube.
@Texon100 Knowing how big Fox's foundation is, he's probably already looked into it. If there was a for sure cure for Parkinson's, we would know it and I'm sure Fox would be the first to be cured.
Not sure how to respond. With respect, I don't assume anything. I believe you could not help but be amazed if you had seen the Dr. Perlmutter video mentioned in my post. I don't know if its a cure, but the treatment results are impressive, if only short-term. I tried to include the link, but kept getting an error message. PubMed has over 60,000 articles on Glutathione, but its as if the subject is hidden in plain sight. Please see the video and check out Perlmutter.
We will find cure for Parkinsons.. Before this Heroic man passes away, I pray. He and thousands of others deserve to be cured. Sure there are many other diseases and life threatening problems such as AIDS, Cancer, Leukimia, And so forth. But Parkinsons strikes just as sudden, and it drives you mad till the day you die, unable to control your motor functions.. Unable to stop yourself from moving, Unable to be cured. I PRAY for a cure. You should too.
I am 18 and Michael is my hero, he truly is a fighter and i believe in the hope for the cure and know it is coming soon.dont give up Michael your a true warrior whos going to win the battle
@mnmoneyeagle90 He hadn't been diagnosed with it yet, and it didn't get really bad or painful until about 2000, which was 10 years after the last Back to the Future was made..
Had a neighbor with Parkinson's who went through SCC International (407) 610-4248 who coordinated a medical evaluation by an Asian doctor. They had to travel to an overseas treatment center, but their condition totally REVERSED. it was incredible.
i'm reading his book right now " Adventures of an Incurable Optimist" and i love it. i think he is an amazing person/ actor and we are very much in need of a cure. ... and SIX 000 SUX, stay positive and love your life !!! thanks everyone.
Excuse me?? I'd rather hear what they have to say instead of Aerosmith concert. Congratulations, you're the first negative person I've come across on Youtube in 4 years.
Hello! My name is Renato. I live in Niteroi in Brazil. My mother has Parkinson's disease since December 2000 and has since learned to live with the disease. Congratulations Michael J. Fox for his work, his perseverance and his hope for a future without Parkinson. Thank you, because with work, politics, faith and family will win. Hugs to all the American brothers and sisters. Sorry for grammatical errors. 21/01/2010, 23:37h
Fox seems in a much better shape then the Champ. Is Muhammad Ali's worse condition due to his profession??
I wish Ali could talk as clearly as Fox, would have helped the solution and USA itself a lot, becuase when he speaks people listens. Afterall, he was arguably the most famous man on the planet.
that is absolutely sick! u have no clue what sort of pain he's in! people have to live with this horrible life ruining disease and u have no clue about anything !
Muhammad Ali and Michael J. Fox: Two Legends! Muhammad Ali (Heavy World Champion in Boxing, the best Boxer of all Time) Michael J. Fox (The best Teenie-Actor in the 80´s). I will never forget "The Rumble in the Jungle" and "Back to the Future". Respect for this two Mans!
wow, awesome video 1:472:04. MJF was my hero in Family Ties. long time no hear - i'm not american- i tracked him in gooogle then i found out he suffered from the disease. he is one of the chosen. i proud of him
Micheal is truly inpsiring to me. I want to let him know that. When I visit new york I wonder If i will run into him or not. its such a big city i heard.
Great video, the editing ensures maximum emotional payout. I recently sat next to someone with Parkinson's on a flight from New York to Oslo, and it wasn't until I actually started talking to him that I realized he was just as bright an individual as I, if not brighter. To me, Parkinson's is one of the more unfair illnesses known to man, and it is nearly unmatched in its cruelty considering the way it causes degeneration of the brain's conscious control over the body.
Me and my Grandma liked the ending of the film because it wouldnt stop shaking at the end then it stopped its like the disease he is trying to find a cure then it will stop good way of doing the video
I know some day there will be cure we must have hope. Hope is my name and I always have hope in every day life each day there is something that makes me glad i am alive. I really enjoy his new book and how it has inspired me.
Spark i think you need to watch it dude. He is a Hero in many ways like trying to find a cure and not giving up he even wrote two books like Lucky Man and Always looking Up. So you know what heroes rather if there famous or not are people who want to make a difference in life. Like me I want to help find a cure to. So dont be putting him down or his fans
I said that because I think his attitude is very rare in this situation! He could be depressed or feel sorry for himself and complaining all day...! But no, he appreciates each day, enjoys his life as much as he can, indeed he does something to find a cure, he fights for it and not just sitting in his armchair awaiting for a miracle!!!!
that's why i think he is a hero!!!! he's a positive influence!!!! an optimistic! If people would face their problems this way it would be a better world!
Well i dont think hes a hero. Good bloke but not a hero!!!!! If people had the money he has i think they would be able to face they're problems. Stem cell reasearch is no way to find a cure.
I agree with the money part... But I'm reading his new book, Always looking up, and there are so many interesting and positive things about Stem cell research!!! i thinks there's a big chance that someday many disease will be able to cured with Stem cells! read his books and articles about it! I did that ! science is ahead of money...
What would you do if you learn you have a debilitating disease like PD? Sit in your couch and wait for a cure...or get out there and race for the cure? He's racing for the cure while his brain slowly runs out of fuses. That, mate, is why he's a hero.
Someday - I hope not that far in future - we will get the answer to diseases like alzheimer's and parkinson's. I'm working on stem cells and it's really impressive how much we already know. And what you can do.
A cure will be a just a question of time. Though it will be too late for M. J. Fox, I guess.
And: There's no cure for AIDS - crewdog. If you tell people things like that, they will get careless. Idiot!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
gosh, what happened to m j fox ? he used to be the hottest actor in hollywood in the 80's and the highest paid. he was a superstar. remember the back to the future films ?
what happened to this guy who once ruled hollywood ? how did he develop parkinsons ? it really is sad to see him wobbling like this and not having much control.
Right, that's why your comment has 6 buries. Also, it's YOU'RE, you stupid fucking asshole. YOU'RE, NOT YOUR! CAN'T YOU GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK FUCKING SKULL? Jesus fucking Christ, learn English, you stupid ignorant fucking retard.
no you moron, where i come from we talk slang. we spell you''re as your. get it ? dumb cunt. so go and learn your history properly and then comment. you uneducated filth of society.

Chris you did a fabulous job on this video. Muhammed was my neighbor for several years and watching the disease creep along was tough. His philanthropy work in Haiti is to create better living conditions for children, along with his friend Yank Berry, is phenomenal. Michael is also amazing in his philanthropy and his deepest compassion is expressed here. Let their call be what drives us to feel inspired and moved to the core of our beings. Its our hearts, not our heads, that breed compassion.

Google HEMP OIL
or Parkinson CURE
or RICK SIMPSON
Your cure lies there.
If not CURE, then significant help and treatment.
In your hands. free. not thousands of dollars.

That was BEAUTIFUL. Great job.

Volpi0908 2 years ago 6
A hero????? Lol i think you wanna open your eyes mate! He's an actor and if he didnt have parkinsons wtf do you think he would be doing now?
Sparksbeach 2 years ago
I said that because I think his attitude is very rare in this situation! He could be depressed or feel sorry for himself and complaining all day...! But no, he appreciates each day, enjoys his life as much as he can, indeed he does something to find a cure, he fights for it and not just sitting in his armchair awaiting for a miracle!!!!
that's why i think he is a hero!!!! he's a positive influence!!!! an optimistic! If people would face their problems this way it would be a better world!
Volpi0908 2 years ago
Well i dont think hes a hero. Good bloke but not a hero!!!!! If people had the money he has i think they would be able to face they're problems. Stem cell reasearch is no way to find a cure.
Sparksbeach 2 years ago
I agree with the money part... But I'm reading his new book, Always looking up, and there are so many interesting and positive things about Stem cell research!!! i thinks there's a big chance that someday many disease will be able to cured with Stem cells! read his books and articles about it! I did that ! science is ahead of money...
Volpi0908 2 years ago
I agree, the book is a great read. MJF is very inspirational.
emmim44 2 years ago

Idiot!
