  • WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHY!?! <:"(( SHE! she ate some food though why did she still die!?!

  • @msSonic192

She was starving too long. Her organs were failing; she was already dying.

  • it's sad how America had to either bomb Japan numerous times and possibly kill thousands of civilians, or let the Imperial Army take over Asia. things that the US had to do during war times were never easy for the commanders and generals. it was the only way to end world war 2

  • @BananaPhoPhilly Did you learn that in School? Normally it is not regarded "fair play" in war to target Civilians. What brought down the Japanese empire was not the bombing of civilian houses but the bombing of factories plus the destruction of their navy cutting off their supply to the troops fighting in the rest of Asia.

  • @BananaPhoPhilly That is of cause not to throw any blame on the American population neither then nor now. During the war people on both axis and allied side looked at all means to win, and did not look at the opponent population as humans due to propaganda and fear among the population. Further my view on Grave Of The Fireflies is as an anti war film and not an anti American film.

  • Japan version > French Version > All > English version

  • @bigman1171 your a stupid trolling yank who hates this film just because from the Japanese point of view during WW2, and you can't tolerate America bring the bad guy (which isn't even shown in the film). P.S god probably doesn't exist, and if he did, he would hate you for being such a twat.

  • What I hear in his voice is a bit of denial at what he knows is coming. The last of his family is dying and within himself, he knows there's nothing he can do. But for the sake of his sister and that part of himself that wants to believe things will be okay, he stays upbeat without the desperation. Just a thought.

  • @PeachWookiee Exactly.

  • This film ruined my life!`Off to kill myself! DONT WORRY SETSUKO! I'M COMING!!

  • i started crying right around here alot. jesus this movies so sad but such a good movie

  • the saddest part was when Setsuko is Hallucinating. I Knew that she was going to die.

  • i cant stop crying when i watch this and they need to make a number 2 it should be called rip auntie

  • Whenever my 3-year-old niece gives something to someone, she always likes to say "I made it for you!" When I watched this scene and I heard Setsuko say the very same thing and sound almost exactly like my niece, my heart stopped beating for a few seconds. That's how strong this scene is.

  • fucking bitch ass aunt!

  • this movie was so sad when i watched it

  • @maddog10090 I think it was sad when most other people watched it.

  • @bigman1171 what the fuck u on about u fucking faggot

  • @bigman1171 There is something mentally wrong with you....

  • @bigman1171 ur mentally retarded

  • @MrAnimefreak1992 and your a filthy godless athiest gaytard

  • @bigman1171 gaytard isnt even a word moron thats how dumb u are

  • @MrAnimefreak1992 and your an atheist bitch. thats how sad and pathetic you are

  • @bigman1171 aww r u mad that ur god doesnt exist? ur the pathetic one moron ur just a weak panzy that believes in an invisible thing like a crutch cause ur scared and weak.

  • @MrAnimefreak1992 and your the moron who blames on god for your tiny wiener. id hate god to if he gave me a small dick

  • @bigman1171 u must be gay mentioning dick all of a sudden and no i dont have a small dick thats probably u fag

  • @MrAnimefreak1992 your calling me a faggot yet your talking about your dick to me, so wouldn't that make the faggot? atheist cunt

  • @bigman1171 r u that dumb u mentioned it first and i replied back to what u said u really need to learn how to read.

  • Ehhh you people and your preferences on the sub. I love both versions. They both have their strengths and weaknesses to me. I first saw the dub. I still sobbed at the end. I saw the sub and cried just as much.

  • @ScarletRacconian i agree this movie is touching in whatever dub, its the power of the story and the characters that matter not the dub

  • He lies next to her, holding her all night... even after she dies...

  • @meghna2210 and what would you do if your baby sister died and you were in such a hopless situation?

  • @Matak12 I wud do exactly the same...

  • dubb -_-

  • hes only a kid (a fictional character) and he didnt know better. I wouldnt hate this (fictional) character. besides kids after they been starved for so long dont stand a chance of full recovery bc their body takes the nutrients out of their bones and soon their organs and their brain begins to fail. she was too far past saving.

  • japanese version bring every one to tears

  • maybe if she ate her watermelon she wud have gotten better

  • KEEP FEEDING HER THE WATERMELON DON'T LEAVE HER!

  • @Lelouchisabeast, EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS!

She probably would've had a greater chance of living if she had more of that melon!

  • @Kari166 I know. I mean. Why leave her to make rice. KEEP FEEDING HER!

  • English version is just as good as Japanese. You're all just weaboo's.

  • @kingdomofthenight No. The English version had terrible acting and it bugged the hell out of me that most of the names were grossly mispronounced. Most English dubs are like this. I'll admit that Grave of the Fireflies had one of the better ones but it still took a lot away from the film.

Japanese anime with a really good English dub? Azumanga Daioh. The acting was really good in that one. Unfortunately, that's very hard to find. Usually it just doesn't hold up.

  • @kingdomofthenight u mentioning weaboo in this is just bad and ur a idiot

  • @kingdomofthenight I prefer the japanese version because the story is set in Japan, no other reason. If the story was set in Sweden I'd prefer the Swedish version. Nothing 'weeaboo'

  • @kingdomofthenight

The voices express completely different emotional states in the English version.

HOWEVER .... despite that, it's actually just as hearthbreaking, but it is a bit less convincing.

  • wut u guys mean this is not as sad as in the japaneses version, i never seen the japanese version but heck this freaken made cry in the english version i bet the japanese is just the same.

  • "She never woke up."

    That was the cry-time bomb.

  • when he said: "she never woke up." it was such a short sentence with only 4 words and 14 letters. it pullsat the heart strings all the same though.

  • Thia scene no this movie gets me evrytime. Omf. My heart clenchs to this fudgw man.

  • "She never woke up"

    CRY WATERFALLS.

  • 0:40 Someone told me that she is offering him her own poop. is that true? They look like rocks to me.

  • @ggxxslash Not sure but I don't think it could be because she says to Seita when she starts to get malnourished she's been having diarrhoea - think it's just mud and she's hallucinating...

  • Who cares whether it is in Japanese or English, the animation alone was heartbreaking

  • the most sickest death in history

  • Terrible dubbing -.-"

  • Why are the voice overs always the same 5-6 actors ALWAYS. They seriously need some professional voice over actors like Japan in the States.

  • Damn English dub ruines everthing, stick with the Japanese. I'm seriously unable to listen to this, I know I shouldn't whine but still!

  • My god this dub is awful. Seita's voice is just wrong, he sounds like a twenty something year old instead of fourteen, and Setsuko sounds like a rejected rugrat. I truly love this movie, but I can't stand this dub.

  • The guy sound like Reid from Tales of Eternia english voice.

  • I cried like such a bitch at this scene and the whole flashback of her.

  • @drizztdourden me too... but, that's the way it is, :'(

  • hiroslave

    eehm you tough now ??

    looool gtfo

  • Hiroslave

Unfortunately it was not a comedy. I have watched this 100s of times and I still cry

  • This movie seriously make me cry.... T_T

  • I am smiling my ass of this movie was a comedy....right?

    ...Right?

    I am a terrible person.

  • I feel it had much more impact with just the words saying she never woke up rather than hearing the brother say it :/

  • Sorry in the beginning when he speaked english I started to laugh... is his acting that sucky! SES SU KO omfg killlll!

  • I never really watched the movie, how did she die? Was she sick with something?

  • @Demonie0603 malnutrition

  • @Demonie0603 yes starved and the patches on her spread they tdnt say wht they are

  • I'm 18, and this is the ONLY movie that I will admit can make me cry. Jesus... if anyone needs proof that Japan has already surpassed the United States in animated storytelling, just show them this.

  • Poor sweet innocent Setsuko, no child should have to die like that, curse the consequences of War!

  • The very existence of this video is a spoiler dammit!

  • @mairusu1

The title itself is a spoiler XD

  • @buerplaysguitar

Yeah! I was like half way through the movie and saw this at the corner of my eye T_T

  • @mairusu1 Dude, you are pretty much told both of these kids are going to die early on in the movie. You only watch in hope the facts aren't as bad as they seem to be laid out early on (only to find out it's probably worse than you could have expected)

  • omg, this is the saddest part.but the english dub kinda ruined it.

  • @amazo88 Not really. The voice acting's not 5-star material, but it's still incredibly heartbreaking.

  • @CaptainRaccoonWhitly well,it is for me.

  • That's kind of the point. The reason the author wrote it so that he died is because he blames himself for his sisters death and thinks he deserved to die. He was apparantly surprised when lots of people sympathised with him.

  • This is the part where I usually break down and cry. True, not as much feeling in the English version, but it still gets me all misty eyed. T__T

  • I'm sorry but it doesen^t bring that much feeeling on english

  • i totally agree

  • @vclopi I respectfully disagree.

  • @vclopi do you understand jap ?

  • Poor Setsuko, I blame it all on the aunt!
