Of course you consider them top notch, if you use as comparison Adelle.. or Bieber, Rihanna. Almost everything in american showbusiness today is extremely low value.
However my sincere advice is: improve and extend your tastes. Experiment. You will be stunned of what incredible bands and singers are in countries like Finland, Russia, Brazil.. everywhere. Huge bands with millions of loyal fans. Bands most people in USA don't even know they exist.
BTW: BMTL is very easy mode.

From a technical perspective, she, as far as I and the majority of the people who have watched this video (judging by the like/dislike bar) can tell, she is singing perfectly. I'm sure most experts would agree she sang this song very well, her voice was not at all squeaky in any part.

@BigSexyKracker actual it is not hard at all. The verse is just 2 power chords. E5 and A5. He adds the 6th to the E5 before he goes to the A5. That is all the verse is. The chorus is just an E minor chord, G major chord, D major chord and back to the E minor. Thats pretty much the song. There are some other stuff he does for the bridge but it's a basic song a beginner could learn. At least I think.

I always liked Evanescence and this song is a favorite of mine.
However, people considering Amy Lee as a "great singer" should listen to more quality music.
She composed this song and performed it for years, hundreds of times.
Yet her voice is all over the place, is out of tune, misses note after note. Strains and screeches on such an easy piece.

I gave that video as an example for difficult song sang perfectly, you cannot expect to make an impression using a cell phone recording.
That particular song is among the most greatest metal songs ever btw and was voted numerous of times among the best off all time in rock.
It's not about brainwashing, but about how you develop as a person.
Having no culture leads into having poor taste. And so, you may hear Bach or Pavarotti and hear "weird".

@BigSexyKracker actual it is not hard at all. The verse is just 2 power chords. E5 and A5. He adds the 6th to the E5 before he goes to the A5. That is all the verse is. The chorus is just an E minor chord, G major chord, D major chord and back to the E minor. Thats pretty much the song. There are some other stuff he does for the bridge but it's a basic song a beginner could learn. At least I think.

@BigSexyKracker Ya but that stuff isn't that hard. You can do it to easily. It just takes a little practice. Palm mutes and slides on a guitar are some of the easiest tricks you can do. I'm not saying Ben isn't a good guitarist cause he is. And a even better musician. But what he is playing here in this vid is not that hard. It does sound real nice though.
