Keep in mind - $1000 in cash back in the 1945 era would equate to $12,000 today. So when someone back then talks about a Thou - they are really saying $12K. in today's money.

Great forgotten movie. Its a shame the print is kinda dirty, seems unusual for a movie from the mid 40s, makes it look older than it is. Awesome story, especially the female/male manipulation. Also funny how she keeps with the guy who beats her because she "loves him." Things haven't changed that much have they.

@ntnrocket1 great movie,but not a forgotten one. The male/female relations. makes me wonder how that passed the censors . Also notice Scarlet Streets first images: The dog and the ape.
