When Downie fights a guy that much bigger you know he's game. He never backed down from anyone in the OHL and I've only seen him turtle against Chara. Like him or not, he has a role and he performs in it. He just needs to eliminate the slew foots and feet leaving checks but he has definitely limited the dirty stuff considerably since his Flyer days. Saying otherwise is not giving Downie the credit he deserves. After all, he's not an Avery type of agitator; he has skill. He scored 22 g in 2010.

@flyers2114 size, and in particular height, is an enormous factor in fighting. same as arm wrestling. try arm wrestling against someone who isn't any stronger than you, but is taller than you, and his arm is a few inches longer than you, and he will almost definitely win.

with boxing, or fighting, it's the same principle. it's not only height, but also arm length. try fighting someone a foot taller than you, unless you are something out of this world, like rick rypien, you're gonna lose.
