If you consider the year this was released MIA was actually WAYYY hotter than GAGA at the time. Only nyc club twinks were listening to GAGA and MIA was taking over the world (how soon we forget). GaGA was trying to fit in with what was going on in pop culture and MIA was THE it girl of 2007. of course GaGa went on to be more successful but she certainly borrowed a little from MIA to get there.

MIA's very experimental, but there's few tracks from her that don't fail because of tackiness, unexpanded concepts that are taken too literally, and ideas that just make ears bleed. It's safe to say that she has some nice songs but she's definitely jealous that Lady Gaga has more success than she does in a shorter amount of time, just compare the two in top 10 singles.

On the other hand, MIA made it to the TIme 100 solely on the basis of the quality of her work, despite never having Platinum sales. Gaga sounds virtually identical to most other mainstream musicians, whereas MIA sounds nothing like mainstream musicians. MIA is an experimental pioneer, whereas Gaga is just a mimic.
