Although I think Angel is the more heroic (think like Superman-ish) and Spike is an unwilling hero, not an anti-hero like the Punisher, despite the evil deeds he did, he was not in control of them. He is more like Wolverine, an unwilling hero who has a past of people controlling him and making him be the very dangerous bitch. He broke out of it, went to LA and started drinking the second he became corporeal again. Just like Logan (Wolvie) would've done. Angel goes to LA and starts saving dames.

Just like with Angel, he doesn't revert to the original William. Even though he has his original soul back. His experiences have changed him. Spike also had an intense love for a good woman, I think this game him a small inkling of a moral compass. Where Angelus despised all that is humanity, Spike was forced to embrace it through a chip, not an ensoulment. So Spike had to deal with it a completely different way, he decided to force himself to become a good man, out of necessity and love.

I think that a huge different is that Angel changed and spike didn't. Spike was and is still the same person, only his goals change. Even as a poet he always wanted to proof him self, he wanted to be recognised and after he was sired, he stil got his insperation out of the things he saw and heard, even his torture style came out of a remark he heard as a poet (i rather have a railroad spike put into my head than listening to another of that guys poets).

But yeah, it would be interesting, however, to see a story where evil Spike encounters good Spike in his own mind. I think there should be a story where Spike's soul gets captured and trapped in a flask and Angel has to go save it, it would be so much more interesting than Buffy jumping in (although she should be a part of it). To have Angel fight for Spike's soul? and-

I wonder if the soulless Spike, without the chip, would try killing Buffy again or a few slayers. I don't see why he wouldn't. Angel and Angelus are clearly multiple personalities. But I think Spike/Spike (lol) are as well. But Spike having fought for his soul, had a different reaction to gaining it than Angel, who had destiny thrust upon him. Spike sought out his destiny after Drusilla.

Or perhaps a sort of interdimension showdown between good spike and angelus & bad spike and angel, both fighting for their soul, where both angelus and bad spike try to convince the other to give up their soul and return to their old habbits.

I have to say that when it comes to saying which romance is better, Buffy/Spike or Buffy/Angel, I'm always at a tie, it's apples and oranges, really. They can't compare.

Angel and Buffy had an attraction that was instant, visceral, and long lasting at the same time. It was beyond lost, but Buffy was still so young and inexperienced. The big plot hole for the whole "Angel loses his soul" is, even if he had sex with buffy after he became good again, who says that he would get perfect happiness?

hmm, i have to disagree. Seeing Red only showed what was obvious from the very beginning - Spike had no soul, regardless the noble actions when he had proved to be the hell of the 'almost-having-a-soul' guy. i think it's hard not to sympathise with him after how he felt after the rape trial. he got his soul back! it's not only the reason to sympathise, it's the perfect reason to adore him even more.

Really now? You know, Xander once tried to rape Buffy, waaay back in the first season. He was just possessed by the spirit of a hyena, still had his own soul and everything. But they just brushed that off afterwards, like it was nothing. Spike, on the other hand, had no soul, and unlike Xander (whom Buffy had to beat back), he stopped on his own. But I'm rambling on a topic that's been beaten to death already. Sorry.

Good point. I kind of expected more from him. I mean, he killed two slayers, lived with Angelus and Dru for ages, and slaughtered thousands. Mhm. One of the weirdest things about that whole scene was that Spike didn't even go into gameface. Which, as far as I can recall, has always been portrayed as an almost reflexive response to violence. Instead he just... Yanked her around a bit and muttered almost brokenly. They'd done far worse to each other all in the name of foreplay, usually initiated by her. The whole thing was more pathetic than scary, to tell the truth. The violence and the sexcapades...so when she was saying "no" in the AR...Spike probably thought she didn't mean it. He could have gone through with it...she was weak and hurt. Anyway it was a way for Spike to get ensouled and for JM to get timeoff for a movie he was shooting. I love Spuffy...they belonged together...

There are many good videos about Spike with this song but yours is my favourite. It really catches the rhythm of Spike's tragism and the song's meaning. And most of the scenes are visually very appropriate for such kind of video and are enough еxpressive even if you are not perfectly familliar with the plot and the lines. I love it.
